Any experience about how difficult it is to avoid going OCONUS PCS following the completion of a Navy IM residency?

Of course if the Navy sends me OCONUS it is what it is, but my preference is to stay stateside. Is that something that tends to work out?

It tends to work out. Most people I've known who've gone overseas asked for those billets. Europe and Japan are usually nice tours.

Of course, someone's got to go to Gitmo and Guam.

I think you meant to say 'Gitmo: The #3 Most Happening Military Spring Break Destination!'

IM is a huge specialty with lots of billets including many GMO conversions. Most of the overseas billets are desirable enough that you are likely to stay CONUS. However, I'm not sure I'd rather be in Cherry Point, NC than Diego Garcia.

Are you still going to go to Gitmo?

Still waiting on my orders back to NMCP. Although BOL has been down for a few weeks, I suppose it's possible I already have them.
