Oct 15th acceptance notification?!

Just curious..for some schools , they said they will be letting me know their decision on Oct 15th..but does that mean they will mail the letters out on the 15th or I will receive the letters on the 15th?! Kinda anxious....let me know...thanks!

I thought most schools called/emailed/and sent letters. Im sure they give you SOME form of instant notification (call or email) and then a snail mail confirmation.
 
Some will actually call/email that day w/a letter put in the mail that day. Others will only notify you by a letter in the mail that day, and depending where you are at you should get it 3-5 days later. My first one arrived on the 19th last year.
 
can they post-interview reject you before the 15th or is that the earliest they can do that too?
 
NO info either way untill 15th offficaly.

But unofficially some times people will get calls informing them.
Tulane mails decisions as early as the first, and interviewers at some schools will personally call their accepted interviewees before the 15th, but only if a very good connection was made. But dont take not getting such a call as evidence of anything. Its just the interviewers style...

Schools want to tell you as soon as they can, so you are more likely to cancel other interviews and not see something another school has which impresses you that you may have seen had you not been accepted elsewhere already.

If i got into Tulane on the 1rst i wouldnt bother going to any other non-state school interviews, but if i did go i may find somthing special at say...rush...that would have kept me from tulane...
 
mich in the past has sent some "encouraging" e-mails to post-interviewees who later got an acceptance. you should do a search on this.

speaking of which.....anyone interview at mich get that e-mail this year??? thanks for any info!
 
Is there a list of schools that email or call you on the 15th? I'm specifically wondering about Penn State since that's the only rolling school I've interviewed at so far, but I'm sure a lot of people would like to know so they don't have to check their snailmailbox obsessively during that week!
 
yeah....anyone know about wake forest, vandy, or MD? those are three I'm waiting for.....do they call or email? or snail mail?

i remember last year, everyone was anxiously awaiting oct 15... there was probably a countdown thread or two... and then the day came and went without much news at all. didn't matter much for me, bc i hadn't even had interviews yet, but i remember a lot of people were excited and anxious about that day, and then it was like a total bust... but yeah, acceptances gradually started coming in after that.
 
at ohio state, they specifically told us to check our status pages on oct 15th for our decision, so for you OSU interview people, the 15th IS your day!

Damn. I was hoping to cancel some interviews and save some money if my first choice called. Oh well. 🙁
 
anyone else get the "encouragement" post-interview email from umich?
 
I got my reply from Medical College of Wisconsin on saturday (9/27/03).
I'm in :clap:, so no more stress or worrying; I have enough of that as it is.

For those of you who interviewed early at Vanderbilt (say August or early September), I was curious about the ADCOMs saying that we find out in 4-5 weeks about the final decision. I may have heard them wrong, but they said something about being "early birds," and that they'll be able to make a decision quicker than usual. It's been almost 5 weeks since I interviewed there, so should I be expecting a letter from them around now, or do I have wait until Oct. 15th?? On my interview day, they didn't bring up that date. But, I'm not like gung-ho about having to find out my status now. Yet, I'm curious about how the timing of the application goes. Thanks!
 
For Vandy, you do have to wait till Oct. 15. I asked the director of admission and that was what he said.
 
For all U.S. MD schools it is Oct. 15 set by the AAMC, unless you are EDP.
 
so...does vandy send an email? or will they mail something via snail mail? as you can tell...i think we're all gettin anxious...but i better hear something on the 15th, as that will be 6 weeks after my interview....
 
Hey premed 2, I just talked to the admission office of Vandy and they said that next week is when the first time the committee will select students from the pool of students who interviewed early (like in august). Then they will send out the letter next week, so the letter should be coming in the mail by end of next week or the week after that. This waiting is making me more impatient. 🙄

I got an encouraging email. They were "very impressed with my credentials." I won't say that I know what it means exactly (they specifically said it was not an acceptance email), but I definately got pumped up. Cool school, good people.

(Note, I hesitated putting this up because I don't want to distress anyone who didn't get such an email, but I would like to know if someone else had and I hadn't)

Oh wow, I think I'm getting more nervous now. 😱 I'll just try to distract my mind from the waiting game with academics and other stuff. Thanks for sharing the info with us, taehong81.

Just curious but when did you interview at Umich? I just wanna know how long after do they usually send you that email. Thanks a lot...
 
Interview friday, email like tues the next week
