Hi all,

So, I've interviewed at LECOM-Erie, and have an interview at LECOM-B this coming November. Of all the DO schools I applied to, I believe these are the only two that require a DO letter. From what I know, for LECOM, the DO letter is more of a formality than a critical factor in your application. During my interview at LECOM-Erie, we were told "the DO LOR won't make a difference in your application, we just want to know that you had at least a conversation with a DO." I was able to obtain a DO LOR, however, it's very average..nothing outstanding about it. I do have a terrific MD letter however. My question is, should I only have my DO letter sent to the LECOMs? Or would it benefit me to have it sent to all other DO schools that I applied to? Even if it's just an "average" letter? (PCOM, NYCOM, CCOM, UNECOM, NOVA). If it helps, my sibling is a DO.

VCOM requires it...they explicitly state that an MD letter will not serve as a substitute for this requirement.

Almost every school I applied to specifically requested a DO letter.

They also now say on their website that if you can't swing a DO letter, a MD letter will suffice but you'll be required to shadow a DO the month before you matriculate.

Send it to every school that requires it, but also send that glowing MD one. LECOM is not the only one. Check what each school says on their website. If none of the other schools you applied to require it, then just send it to the LECOMs.
