Off the waitlist
Started by bunnygirl
Awww, sorry guys! I think I'm sticking with UPenn for a multitude of reasons. So ... that will mean a spot at Tufts and Cornell still open! I honestly thought that I would feel different than I do and would be sooo glad I am off the waitlist but ugh, it has been TORTURE and caused lots of tears. It's no fun trying to decide the next 4 years of my life!

Catnapper, Tufts gave me until May 2nd to decide so I assume that the other people they took off the waitlist have until May 2nd, too ... just so you know!!!
😛 Hopefully if you don't hear by then then you will hear May 5th!
Edit: CONGRATS SILLYFILLY!!!!! That is so awesome!!!

Yay SillyFilly!

Oh man sillyfilly, good luck choosing!
Awww, Velcro I cant imagine how that feels. Its sucks that they have to fill those OS spots with out of state residents because of contracts..otherwise I think its definately not fair. If they exhaust their first choices AND their waitlists for OS students then they should have some stipulation that says they can pull people from the IS waitlist verses recinding rejections. Just not nice to know that you were actually deemed qualified enough to get a waitlist spot and that others are being un-rejected just to fill seats. Not trying to pour salt in your wounds...just empathizing (not sure about the grammar but you get the idea).
That's pretty crazy that the "#1 vet school" is digging into their rejections for OOS students this year - they most not haven't accepted enough to begin with. I was accepted and declined Cornell OOS. It was a tough decision because I really liked the school, PBL, and several potential classmates were really nice, but they didn't even give me enough loan money (subsidized and unsubsidized) to cover my OOS tuition or the cost of living, and my EFC is very very low! That seemed pretty ridiculous, and eliminated Cornell from my list of potentials right away. So, that's actually something to think about if you are an OOS for Cornell, because i'm guessing several other OOS might end up in the same situation. Cornell must not have been given as much financial aid money as they expected...
Just my thoughts.

Ouch, I hope I can find out what I'll be getting ... because I haven't found out what I'll get from UPenn! They said that they tell you what you'll get *after* you've accepted ... I hope I find out soon.
to rac & anyone else considering cornell (may apply for other schools as well, i dunno)...you are always able to increase the amount of unsubsidized loans to cover the cost of your entire education. the school offers a low unsubidized amount, hoping that you won't need all of it, but that doesn't mean you can get more...an unsubsidized loan is a loan from the lender to you, not from the school, and it doesn't reflect how much money the school has to give etc. (that's scholarships & grants) or your academic record (like health professionals student loan)...
Thanks guys! Gosh, you all are so supportive and wonderful. I am sure i will have to post a "please help me" post soon... since I have no idea.
I JUST got the call-- I'm in to MN off the IS waitlist!!!!!😀
FINALLY! I think I'm still in shock... a year ago I was plugging along toward my dream and now it's HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats SillyFilly and Carrbear!!! How exciting!!

Although I wasn't actually on a waitlist (technically rejected from Cornell), I've been offered a seat in the class of 2012. I'm sorry for all of you IS folks that are still waiting though 🙁. But I can't hide the fact that I'm so so SO excited! I thought for sure that i was going to have to apply again next year, but I'm going to vet school! This is so surreal, I can't believe it. That phone call was probably the biggest shock/surprise of my life; I'll never forget it.
Now I don't have to worry about finding a new job, taking the GRE's again, and gaining new experiences. This is the best day EVER!
Good luck to all of you still waiting, miracles apparently DO happen!

Are you in-state (IS) or out-of-state (OOS)? Do you know where on the list you are? ALWAYS keep the faith! Who knows what will happen between now and September!!!

I'm out-of-state... international, more precisely, although it's probably the same thing for them, right? Does anybody have any information about Tufts? I'm keeping my fingers crossed for those still waiting...
Thanks for the warm thoughts!

Got the call about 1/2 an hour ago, and I am still in a state of shock. 😱 I can't believe that I was actually accepted off the waitlist! Time to celebrate cause it looks like I will be a vet school student this fall! Woo Hoo!!
