$120,000 in California is it too low? My friend says Cali pays 150K, is that true, guys?
I have a job offer for 120, and the location is not great...
(retail chain store)

Hospital...I start my pharmacists at $150K fresh grads.

post residency?

what about retail?

Hell...why would you want to do retail.. There was a post about this indy paying $81K. count your blessing you got 120K

oh. no...I did not do a residency...I am still a student, graduating this spring...120 is in retail, not a hospital

Just wondering why 150K? I've read your previous posts that you also hire people w/o a residency. What do they actually do in your hospital?

Yep, Kaiser pharmacist got paid $74/hr in So Cal...

CVS pays about ~$62/hr for new grads this year in So Cal from what I'm aware of..

Its not what they do. Its how well they do and the high standard of excellence in medication management we have in place. I inherited a fantastic pharmacy department.

One day I would like to visit Z's Disneyland utopia pharmacy, but what I have learned in life is that if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

OP, you can look on glassdoor for California pharmacist salaries.

lol...so true. People talk so much **** on the internet. Keep your heads in the clouds everyone.

Serious question. Is that $150k base salary? Or is that total compensation, including the employer portion of FICA taxes, 403(b)/pension/401(k) contributions, health/life/disability insurance, stock and options, differentials, etc?

Maybe this came across wrong, but seems kinda disrespectful, no offense. Besides being optimistic is not the same as head in clouds, right? Dunno, don't see how talking s**t benefits him or anyone else either

kaiser isn't indicative of other workplaces in so cal...they've consistently been higher. those jobs are hard to get.

120K in Cali is way too low. You've been duped. Don't accept the offer.

Its not what they do. Its how well they do and the high standard of excellence in medication management we have in place. I inherited a fantastic pharmacy department.

Better than 81k per year....the new standard.

Merging threads.

I don't make as much as I could in retail, but I'll take my M-F, no weekend/evening/holiday, 4 weeks/yr vacation anyday.

Could not agree more! I make a couple bucks less per hour than local retail pharmacists but after you consider the health/retirement benefit package, there is not much of a comparison🙂 I love having no weekends/holidays/nights, and 4 weeks of PTO🙂 Working every other weekend and holidays would annoy the hell out me and get in the way of my social life.

I think I am gonna take that offer...Besides, they offer 30K sign up bonus...Although, that bonus somehow is spread between 3 years: before I start 1st year they give me 10K, then after 1-st year they give me 10K, then after 2nd year, before the 3d year they give me 10K as well, and then I have to finish working every year for each 10K...
I hope they wont make me to pay the whole 30K if I quit after one year...
How does that work?

wow they still have sign on bonuses in ca? where is this?? compton?
