Some people got e-mail from their interviewers, then got the letter. Some people got the snail mail, then the mass e-mail. Others (like me), got the mass e-mail, then the snail mail.

I was expecting a rejection. I guess I will just have to wait a little longer to get the rejection letter.

Hmmm. Got the mass e-mail yesterday, then another e-mail yesterday about receptions for accepted students, and yet still no notification by regular mail (I live in Boston) of what the decision was. I'm assuming (perhaps wrongly) that I got accepted. If that is the case, what a stupid way to find out!

I got the much-awaited congrats e-mail from my interviewer this morning--after the mass e-mail and snail mail yesterday. Well, congratulations, jalfrad!

My handle is in reference to a Leonard Cohen song, "Take This Waltz." My status is in reference to part of the lyrics: "I'll dance with you in Vienna/I'll be wearing a river's disguise." As to what it means for one to wear a river's disguse, that's open to interpretation ...

The "a" won't fit in the status field, BTW.

(What's even stranger is that surge includes a quote from the same song in his signature--relatively few people know Cohen, and even fewer know that song, which is off a later, less well-known album, "I'm Your Man.")

Hey there everyone, don't give up hope if you haven't received an email from your interviewers!

I called my little bro this morning (i'm at work) to check the mail for me, and there it was! An acceptance from PITT!!
Man, I'm really hyped, after being waitlisted at U of chicago and Vande I'd pretty much give up hope I'd have a shot at this school. But I guess miracles do happen! Now the question, do I got to my state school, U of Illinois and save 80K over 4 years, or go to a top 20 and an awesome school such as PItt.

ARe any of you guys in the same boat as me?

I interviewed Feb. 4th and heard back already. So if you interviewed mid-Feb you should probably hear back real soon. I'd say by the end of March.

interviewed feb 12 and got a decisions already...perhaps your interviewers didn't get their evals in on time? you should probably hear soon in that case.

is your sdn name a reference to the nissan 350z engine? the z is cool.😀

including Z, G35 (sedan/coupe), Maxima, Altima, Pathfinder, FX35...

Anyway, for those of you waiting for scholarship info: They have NOT made decisions yet. I e-mailed Pitt last week asking whether I already would have been told if I had been offered one. Heard back today--decisions should be made in the next 2 weeks. Good luck.

Good news for those of you that have been waitlisted like me. I emailed my student interviewer for more info, and he told me that there has traditionally been a lot of waitlist movement. He thinks at least half his class came in off the waitlist, and that for the 150 spots, about 450 acceptances were given. So sit tight until May or June, when we'll expect to see lots of movement.

Congrats to those who've already been accepted, and sorry for those who've been rejected. Best of luck to everyone in the process!

i noticed you interviewed mid-feb. i interviewed toward the end of feb, and they told me my app would be decided on on april 2nd when i called the other day. i'd imagine your app would be in that batch or even before if they're reviewing before then, so you should be hearing by mid april. best of luck!

I remember being told at Pitt that you could get in state tuition after your first year. At the student page forum on the pittmed website ( http://www.pittmed.pitt.edu/ ) they are saying that it's really hard to get. Damn. This really puts a damper on things. I may be staying in state after all. Is anyone else disturbed by this?

well, I know it's more money but the truth is out of state is $34k/year and instate is still a whopping $27.5k/yr - so it's less to be in-state but if you can't get in-state it's not going to be as big of a difference as some places .... not that thats much comfort but I don't think the difference between 34 or 28k for 3 years (I'm assuming out of state year 1 regardless) would make me change my mind on a school.

But I don't know how much your state school is and it's all relative...

Shucks. Ohio State and Cincinnati (my state schools) are only around 20K, which is quite a difference. I was much more comfortable at Pitt, and like the city a lot more. I'm still going to go to the second look weekend, and hopefully I can find some way around this $ thing. The ironic thing is that Ohio State (not sure about Cinci) automatically give in state tuition after the first year.
