Florida State is still reviewing applications!- just got an email from my poi for a phone interview

Hey leavingprov,

I sent an email to one of my professors who is a graduate of Xavier's PsyD program emailing him the email we received from Xavier and asking him if it was an interview...this is what he said

"This is both an interview and a sales pitch on their part. You should be very excited and proud that multiple programs are expressing an interest in you, this is a very good sign. Xavier invites some, but not all of the applicants, to come and visit. Throughout the day (though if I remember correctly you can finish as early as mid-afternoon) there are a variety of different opportunities to interact with faculty and current students. Activities include tour of their facilities, lunch, panel discussions, and my favorite part competitive interviewing. Meet with me sometime and I can tell you more details about it."

So it sounds like we have an interview...Congrats!!

Your prof is right, this is basically an interview (they've looked at applications, made at least one round of cuts and you made it through thus far) it is not just an open house for any interested applicant. I went to this last year so feel free to PM if you want any more info!

To weigh in on the UF conversation that is ongoing- I did not receive an e-mail on Friday but I did receive a message from UF on Jan. 20 saying this:

"Attention Applicant:

Currently we are in the process of reviewing applications to the Clinical and Health Psychology Doctoral Program. If you have received this email, it means that the Admission Committee is currently reviewing your application. We hope to make decisions regarding interview selection by the end of next week. If you are selected for an interview, you can expect to be contacted between January 28th – February 2nd, 2009. Note that these dates are approximate and the process could take a little longer. Our visitation/interview weekend is scheduled for February 20-21, 2009.

Should you be selected for interview we will contact you during the time mentioned above. Take care and good luck with your academic pursuits."

So I am going to go ahead and count that as being in the running...

So...I'm gonna go ahead and repost this from earlier on in the thread (I hope you don't mind BlindBlonde - I included your post too as it's really good). Everyone seems to be freaking out a lot which is totally understandable - I was there just one year ago and am now thankful to be done. (...at least til internship :scared:)

I'm a little slow in reacting, blindchaos, but I do not mind the repost at all. I've been giving the same talk to some others in my master's program who are applying to other Ph.D. disciplines.

Step away from the computer for a bit and do some yoga or meditation--constant anxiety will not do you any good! 😎

I'm sorry, but what is UF? I'm guessing University of Florida?

Hey! Just spoke with someone at UF. E-mails/phone calls for interviews will start going out on Wed.! And don't freak completely if you haven't gotten word yet that your app is complete... Apparently, about 80-some e-mails bounced back, so they will be sending them out again today! Good luck!

got this email as well!! 🙂

Pretty sure people would have figured this out, but FYI all the Duke invites went out this weekend, no more to come. 🙁

Has anyone heard from the SUNY Albany? Also, I know that it is listed that Drexel sent out invites on the 8th (the secretary that i talked to said that they will be continually sending out invites until the end of this week). But, has anyone heard since. And, if you did, can you message me with your POI's name?

I just received an email from Spalding University for an interview to their Psy.D. program.

I haven't heard anything yet from Albany. On their website somewhere they mention interviews are usually in March so my guess is that the invitations for interviews won't be sent out until next month.

Anyone else disappointed to not hear from BU or Duke? I contacted them both JUST to make sure all their interview invites have gone out. They have for Duke 🙁 as someone has already posted, but they have NOT for BU! The admissions person said: "We're in the process of contacting applicants. Hopefully, initial contact will be made with all those we hope to interview by mid-week." So there's still hope for those of us interested in BU!

Just wanted to let y'all know that I got an interview invite to Loyola College Maryland Psy.D. program today (someone else had posted around 1/22) so it's likely they are still sending out invites. Good luck everyone!

Does anyone know if UCF (Central FL)- Clinical has sent out all their invites? I have tried to call the program assistant but she's never there and her mailbox has been full.

I contacted my POI from UCF a few weeks ago (when i read here that someone got an interview). For her lab, at least, the interview invites had been sent out (i didn't get one). She said that they had so many applicants this year. But, that I was not yet rejected and she will let me know if she hears more. I think that means that for her lab, unless a lot of people reject their interview invites, I did not get one. Just letting you know.

It's worth contacting your POI, though, mine was very nice.

I am wondering about contacting my POI's to see if they are done with handing out invites. I always assumed that was not an appropriate option, but I have seen several posts that people are doing just that. What does everyone think?

My opinion, for what it's worth:

I think contacting the POI is a good idea if 1. you can't get specific information from the dept. admin.; 2. the dept. admin indicates that the POIs are doing all the contact; 3. you know that other invites have gone out; 4. you have a potential scheduling conflict with another interview. If you know the invites are forthcoming but haven't gone out yet, however, I don't really think it's a good idea to bug POIs beforehand (as much as I want to every day!!).

And to echo a previous post, I have found POIs to be really helpful and nice about this sort of thing.

Since it appears the invites are being handled individually by the profs at UMiami, I was wondering if anyone has heard from Dr. Annette La Greca? I had previously spoken to one of her grad students, but I'm not sure whether she's given invitations yet, and I don't want to be bothersome to the grad I spoke to.

In addition to this, has anyone heard anything from Dr. Debra Lieberman?

Just letting you know that I got an invite from Drexel on Jan. 16th.
I'll PM you the name of my POI!

good luck everyone!!! 🙂

Hi All,

I contacted the Clinical Psychology department assistant at Oklahoma State today and she said that all interview invitations have been extended at this point 🙁.

I also e-mailed Northern Illinios University and the clinical Psychology assistant there said that as far as she knows "the area would be extending open house invites by Wednesday of this week". So there could still be hope if you are waiting to hear from NIU!

Good luck everyone!

Does anyone out there know anything about Rutgers? It seems like nobody has heard from them, and I was just wondering if anyone knows when they are extending invites for the Clinical PsyD program...

UPDATE: I just called the program and they said they aren't extending invites 'til the week of Feb. 16th...

For all of you SU hopefuls out there, the department says although a lot of invites were sent on friday, they will be continuing to send invites until Feb 1st! Good luck! 😀

Has anyone called UCSD to find out an approximate timeline?

Has anyone contacted these schools about their timeline for extending invites (clinical PhD)?
GA State
Missouri-St.Louis
CUNY-Graduate school

has anyone (who wasn't on the first mass email invite from fordham) actually contacted Dr. Rosenfeld? did he write back, and if so, what did he say?

Thanks for the info on Northern!!!!

Has anyone heard anything from the following?

Southern Illinois University
University of Illinois-Urbana
Jackson State University
University of Southern Mississippi
Howard University

Which program at CUNY? Clinical or Forensic Clinical (they are both Clinical and the application process is the same)...I applied to Forensic Clinical Program and spent the majority of the day Friday being redirected to numerous people which finally ended in reaching voicemail.

I asked the woman at admissions if she knew about interview timelines and she said she didn't have the information and didn't know who I should contact to find anything out...

However, this site says a mass email was sent 12/19 for the Forensic Program.

Friends who have applied to regular Clinical program have not heard anything yet as far as I know.

Has anyone called UCSD to find out an approximate timeline?

I emailed them a couple days ago and they told me the invitations would be extended later this month. So I assume that means this week...

For those of you still hoping to get invited by Xavier, I just got my email invitation today!

I emailed Dr. Rosenfeld today and he confirmed that all the invites have gone out. LAME.

I called CUNY Graduate Center, no one picked up. E-mailed them a few minutes ago, and quickly received (what I hope is) an automatic response:

Thank you for your interest in The City University of New York's clinical psychology doctoral program.

Admission to the program for the Fall, 2009 semester is now closed.

Please note - we are accepting November 8th GRE Subject Test scores despite their mid-December delivery.

Please take a look at our website for valuable information about our program.

Closed, as in, you've accepted everyone you're going to already? Thank you for the link to valuable information. :lame:

Relax. Chances are they just mean that the application deadline has passed. Wait for a non-automated response, and try to breathe in the mean time. 🙂

Update on CUNY:

Just received a real e-mail from the admissions coordinator!

We will begin to contact interviewees this week.

But when will you end, CUNY Graduate Center? When will you end?

Contacted via email from DCT at Boston College Counseling. Interview either Mon, Feb. 9th or Tues. Feb. 10th.

Here is what she told me: Interviews will be extended this week

Just in case I'm not the only one on this forum that applied to Idaho State's Clinical program, I found out from the department that they are just starting to review files this week. 😱

Wow, I didn't think there were any schools left that hadn't already started looking at the apps. TBH that is definitely much better news than if I found out files had already been reviewed and all interview invites had been sent out. I like knowing there is still a chance. 😉

Interviews will be March 6th and 7th.:luck:

Interview invite for Kent State's School Psychology Doctoral Program. Contacted by admissions secretary via phone call
Interview dates February 17th and 19th

Phewww...finally!! 🙂

Your application to Clinical Psychology PhD/PsyD program has received sufficient positive evaluations for you to advance to the final stage of our selection process. We are pleased to extend an invitation to you to visit the campus on Interview Day, Monday, March 2, 2009. You will be required to be here for the entire day (starting at 9:00 and ending at 4:00 P.M.).

Email invitation received on 01.26.09 from Graduate Admissions.

Peace.😎

P.S: To the applicants who are freaking out - this is my 2nd time applying. The first time, I received a BUNCH of rejection letters; my heart sank with the first two and by the 5th, I was laughing and thinking of plans B and C. I didn't receive a single interview and I went through the bouts of sadness and stuff but if you have any sort of knowledge about the field, you'll realize that you NEED that clinical/research exposure to survive in graduate school. Just my two cents!

OSU is apparently making decisions in the next week or two, so keep tuned to your status page! :scared:

OSU's interviews are being held on 1/30, when I called a week or two ago they said they had already extended all invitations. This is for the clinical area.

For anyone who is waiting on Univeristy of Houston, I just emailed my POI and recieved a very speedy response stating that they have net yet extended invites and will hopefully be finalizing the invites by the end of next week. ANOTHER 2 WEEKS! Their interivew date is not even finalized, most likely the last week in Feb-first week in March.

Did anyone who applied to UMASS-Boston NOT receive the email about applications being reviewed on 1/27?
