Now I am in a dilemma...do I go to Highland or LLU interview? Anyone know how many 4 year residents are accepted at LLU?

I think 1. Historically they have been a little sporadic though. Taking 1 this year and 2 that year etc.

Last year they took 1 4 and 1 6. Although they usually take 2 6 years.

Not sure how it appeared in the match, but LLU actually took 2 4-year guys and 2 6-year. They usually take 1 and 2, respectively, but you are right about them being sporadic. That's mainly because they have lost some people here or there for personal reasons and they try to graduate 3 every year.

Good luck to any of you choosing between favorite interviews. Highland vs LLU is a tough one.

Reimbursement for the Interview expenses

I will be travelling from overseas to an interview, is usually the cost for the travel and accommodation reimbursed by the interviewing University or is it all self sponsered? Is it common to ask for reimbursement?

Hard to tell, but you can play it safe and ask them to send a chief surgeon to interview you overseas. 👍

I know the salaries for OMFS residency is around 40K- 53K for the first year in average. How come BU residency starts with 52K at PG1 level?

Is Tufts the only program in the country which makes you pay like tution of about $30k every year?? any one hear from WHC, Harlem, St Joseph regional, Texas at Houston and Galveston??

They have attempted to adjust for cost of living, however, very poorly. You would have to be efficient with your money to be in Boston at 60k.

I am living in a cheap city at ~55k. Thank god.

Katy101 - You live in the land of basics I guess. Your expenses must be below your income if you expect to save money. Do your own math based upon your expenses. I can guarantee I can live on 43K. But can you?

St. Raphael sent out invitations via email on 10/14. Interviews are on 11/18 (either 8:00-1:00 or 12:00-5:00 depending on candidate's schedule).

Does anyone have any information about U of Rochester? Can't find anything on program overview.
 
Dear colleagues
How do you prepare for your interviews and do you take anything with you like a portfolio, and if yes, what should be included in that portfolio?
I am told to be at the hospital from early in the morning until the evening, is this a typical interview day, do they take me into the operation theaters? Will I be the only candidate on that day or are there other interviewees too?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Get with the program lady! You have asked the most ridiculous questions ever. I.E. will the programs pay for my flights and hotels? But I ll help you with the above questions:

1. Yes take a portfolio with your visa, passport, a lot of money, and try to bribe all the attendings so you get in. Also bring a paper that reads I AM WITH STUPID with an arrow pointing to you.

2. Your interview will last from 7 AM to 11 PM and everyone is going to stop their busy day. PS...The only person they will interview that day is you.

3. When you get into the operation theater they will have you scrub in and do the surgery. Before the surgery starts they will give you the option to buy popcorn and/or candy. Be sure to sneak in a drink 😱

I hope you are grateful for my help. This advice will help you get in anywhere!
