Official 2013-2014 Cardiology fellowship application cycle

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It looks like two programs that I applied to are eager to download applications. One at 1 am and one at 6 am this morning. Someone is an eager beaver.

That's because it takes For-F****g-Ever to download that crap. It took a couple of days to download the 400+ apps we got last year. They're relatively large files and the server is getting hammered.

My LORs are not showing up yet, so wondering whether I should wait to apply. Does anyone think that it will ruin my chances if I apply a week from now. Any feedback is deeply appreciated.

Your question has been asked and answered several times already in this thread.

I am so grateful I read this forum, I didnt know about RUSH's supplemental app. Are there any other programs that you all have come across requiring special things such as supplementals or modified personal statements? Thanks

If even half of the cardiology applicants apply to Rush (600-700?), that is an extra ~$25,000 they pocket to interview approximately 100 people (not sure how many each program typically interviews). This pays for their recruitment season.

The process is expensive enough. I don't understand the need for greed from a mediocre program.

apply now. upload when available.

Going through the programs I noticed 2 things.

1- few new programs opened up this year.

2- Few other programs are actually NOT-ACGME ACCREDITED anymore, and still you can apply through ERAS, kind of interesting..

like this university program with an OK website and its actual ACGME record

I'm wondering how much money is going to the drain in places like this.

Atracurium,

Are you applying again this season??

Big week. I wonder who will be first to send out invites. Rochester? Baylor?

I know this question has been answered repeatedly, but how long should we wait for our fourth LoR? I am still waiting on our fellowship directors LoR (expect it to be uploaded sometime next week) but at what point should I fall back to Plan B and submit my back up LoR?

Thanks in advance.

while we are waiting for people to post about interview offers..........do you think it hurts to apply to both CV fellowship programs at Mt. Sinai? they are very different- investigator track focuses on preparing people with strong research interests for academic careers, while urban community track focuses on preparing trainees for clinical practice in the community, although the 2 programs also have some curricular overlap as well according to the website. as the goals of each track are different, it seems to me that applying to both may demonstrate ambiguity on the part of the applicant, which may hurt chances for an interview. what do you think?

Just got my first invite today!

Baylor 7/22 invite for 9/13

Hi soccerman 3. What are your cedentials e.g are you an AMG or FMG? Whar are your Usmle Scores ?and which residency are you in ? Any, research. Thanks

Although I don't know anything about your backup LOR...If you believe that the CVD PD's LOR will be strong, I recommend waiting for that one.

Soccer man. Can we have u r scraps? Once u decide which programs u want and cancel the rest we will gladly pick up u r left overs ;)

Hey Soccerman3 are you currently a resident at UVA? Just curious.

No, I'm not a resident at UVa, but I do have ties there.

Surprising to see little activity on cards forum as compared to GI and Hem/onc. Where is the spirit guys ?
Why dont we discuss strength/weakness of programs that sent invites?
We can start with UVA.

I am beginning to get nervous regarding the interviews, also, why is this forum so dull compared to last year?

Do you guys get the feeling that the number of applicants has dropped from years past?
