I figure now is a good time to jump-start this thread.

Even though some of us who had taken the exam in late-2012 are still awaiting our scores (amid the holiday delays) and could technically still post within last year's thread, it is after all mid-January now, so it's probably apposite that we move forward and hope for a great year.

does anyone know what time to expect scores this wednesday? i don't want to start checking at midnight on wednesday if it's not going to come until noon the next day but i'm afraid that may happen. any chance they post scores before they email you? ughh this is the worst!

The email will come up on your smartphone. If you don't have a smart phone, jump off a bridge

Scores will be released 3pm Mauritanian time on Wednesday (east coast time), which is Thursday in Mauritania but that depends on whether you are west or east coast. The Midwest scores will be released the following Tuesday, sorry guys shouldn't have decided to go to school in flyover country.

Taking this thing in the next few days, but signing off until afterwards. Here's my prep:

School sponsored CBSE during spring semester: 99 (doubt accuracy on this)

Dedicated prep (5 weeks):

Uworld 2x, first pass 78%, 2nd 95%
Usmlerx: 86%
Kaplan: 85%

UWSA1: 265+
UWSA2: 265+

Nbme 6: 250+
Nbme 7,11,12: 260+
Nbme 13, 15: 270+

Nbme free 150: 97%

I also did all old nbmes, ungraded and just for extra questions.

Hoping for a 265 or higher, but we'll see. I certainly don't feel ready, but I don't know what else I can do. I feel like I do better on "harder" questions with a more generous curve than easier simple recall type ones. Will update after with thoughts on my exam.

I took the test a few days ago and I already know that I got 7 questions wrong. 4 of which were easy questions that I blanked out on. The other three are 50/50 questions but now all three are all wrong. The real hard questions I don't even remember. Is this normal? I'm hoping for 240+. Got 261 on nbme 13

very normal; don't sweat it. you'll probably randomly realize of more q's you got wrong. you likely scored within your average.

UW mode: What is best mode to start with? tutor, random? timed, random? tutor, subject-wise?

How long does it take to go over a 46 block, including answers review?

Timed, random. All the way.

The block itself takes 1 hour. Reviewing takes 2+ hours (but varies a lot from person to person). It's best to review immediately after a block.

It's up to you. However you learn best.

I did random, un-timed tutor b/c that's what helped me learn the best. I used UWorld as a learning resource so it wasn't important for me to do timed questions in order to simulate a testing situation--that's what I used the nbme's for.

But there's no best way, it's all about what helps you, as an individual, the most.

Does anyone know if the tutorial part on the test is worth doing? I have a mac and it wont let me download the fred thing. Can i skip it ? Isnt it just like uworld? Also do i need a pair of headphones?

Tutorial on the real thing is essentially like than on shelf exams and not worth spending time on plus you can bank that saved time twds break time. Clicking NEXT allows you to skip. You will be provided with headphones

Only thing about the tutorial that you need to do is make sure your headphones work

Oh and another tip for you guys: whenever I got a breather in the first block, I would write down on the paper in front of you:

-ABG values
-Calcium values
-CBC values

I found it saved me time in the long run (ESPECIALLY the comlex where its much more of a pain in the butt to check lab values)

I took my test on 6/10 but my permit thing (not to print it, but the boxes under exam status) is still there. Is there any way they would make me wait another week? Someone else who took it 6/10 has it gone and people who took it well after me as well. Hopefully the disappearing thing is not necessarily significant

When I emailed the nbme they said they expect all tests thru late June to be out on the 10th. Stop the disappearing test permit BS SDN!! Noone here can tell you anything more then the NBME has already posted/will tell you in the phone/via email. I would be shocked if you didn't get your score report on Wednesday.

Anyways I think Im being an idiot. I realized that there is no way to print my actual permit. I still see the table under exam status where it shows my permit available date, eligibility, test date, etc, but no print link. For some reason I was thinking that there should be NOTHING there. No link is available, but despite checking the site somewhat frequently (even if I know its useless) I forgot how it looked before. Either way, I agree with you.

I always tend to freak out in the waiting period AFTER a test haha

Ditto FIREitUP, don't sweat it; personally, it seemed like I was remembering a chunk of questions in groups ~3 days at a time.
I sure hope I can score close to my average.

Late June is a little nebulous? If your blue permit link is still there today, you will not get your score on wednesday. It seems to have been a pretty accurate predictor in the past.

Oh I agree, when I got the response I said the same thing I didn't use nebulous though, more of a middle finger to the computer screen. I don't think going with whether your permit link has dissapeared is a good idea. Guy before me who took it on the 10th said his is still there, I took mine on the 21st and it's been gone for a week + .

If your test permit is still visible it means you either failed or scored below the national average. true story bro

I feel like the relative busy-ness of this thread is solely based on Jonari either being active or inactive in it. We'll see if he makes it back in here tomorrow around 3 pm EST 🙂

what is this permit disappearing talk? if i took it june 17th, i'm sure ill get my score back tomorrow, right? what does that permit have to do with it.

I took mine the 26th of June, still have the permit link. I am not expecting to get mine tomorrow, but who knows.

My school sent an email saying anyone who took their exam on or before June 21 should expect their score tomorrow.

June 22 or later should expect it next Wed.

Based on past threads, it appears that the score release time for most people will be close to 11 AM Eastern Time (although a very small minority seem to get it earlier at around 8am...)

2011: July 13th, Wed
First reported score release 8:10am ET
Most other score releases first reported at: 11:24am ET


2012: July 11th, Wed
First reported score release: 8:29am ET (subject took it on 06-22-2012)
Most other score releases first reported at 11:03am ET
