This was an easy choice... I was super broke when I applied and this is my third cycle applying (so really super broke). I found the money to apply to four I was most interested in, haha. But yeah.. It was scary there at the end.4 schools? Dammm... I wouldn't do that!!!

Did you apply to ASDOH? That's also in Arizona. If you don't get in anywhere this year, maybe you can apply there next year as well if you haven't alreadyI have joint custody and can't leave AZ, so it's my only option. Thank you!
Pretty sure he or she was waitlisted to receive an interview and then later rejected. What if you write them a heartfelt letter/talk to them and describe your unique circumstance? I mean it's a long shot but at this point you really don't have anything to lose. Besides, you were able to get an interview, it's not like you're too far off from acceptance in the first place.
Thanks for the advice! Just did that, talked to an advisor and he said they hadn't looked at my updated AADSAS which helps my application a lot. We'll see what he can get done! You're right, I have nothing to lose... I hope it helps! What if you write them a heartfelt letter/talk to them and describe your unique circumstance? I actually laughed out loud at thatRejection #8 BU
Took em long enough as I didn't even finish the supplemental app. The sight of their horrible gowns made me rethink paying them the supp fee.

First time I heard from Temple since I applied this summer. It was an email about their Post-Bacc program. This process really is a crap-shoot..
In what world do tuition and curriculum structure get ignored when deciding between schools? What factors are left for us to consider when advising you on your choice between the two?

Are you asking, strictly on the basis of reputation, which school to choose?Tuition, PBL, and location aside, Case or Louisville?

I highly highly highly disagree that tuition shouldn't be a factor in general,
In a world where I'm OOS for Louisville so the tuitions are the same. Both cities are not the safest and have similar weather. In a world where PBL is not as frightening as SDN might think it would be. Professors, curriculum emphasis, clinical experience, patient pool, clinical and didactics instructors, reputation, research availabilty, specialty opportunities in the future, preping for boards, exams schedule, variaty of procedures in clinics, Graduating on time ... Compared to these favtors location and tuition should not be comsidered as the main factors IMO. e.g. People are paying a lot for Penn for a reason.
I would think that your best deciding factor is curriculum and student body. I don't think you can ignore PBL that is a huge difference between the schools!Tuition, PBL, and location aside, Case or Louisville?
I highly highly highly disagree that tuition shouldn't be a factor in general, but you're OOS for both so you have a fair point. The areas around both schools are safe; it's different sections of each city that make them "unsafe".
Now the other factors you mentioned are good to consider, but I've only interviewed at Case so can't comment on Louisviile although I've never heard anything negative about it. Case had newer technology and facilities within an older building, with new space on the way. The students seemed content, and it looked like the faculty were right on top of them in the sim clinic to give helpful, constructive advice. They get a good amount of exposure to procedures and the goal of the school seemed like it was to graduate people to be competent in practice day one, no hesitation. Case by no means has a bad reputation for specializing, and I think Louisville's is slightly "better", but you have control over what kind of applicant you are to specialty programs; the name of your school doesn't define you.
My apologizes not used to the smart phone and it prematurely hit enter
You could also consider what part of the country you might want to practice in. I went to undergrad in the South and there were a lot of UT Memphis and U of L dentists that ended up getting positions at Vanderbilt Oral Surgery as well as practiced in the area. I haven't met a Case dentist yet (aside from interviewing), but you might want to consider where you would eventually like to practice as well. I know a lot of people tend to go to their home state to practice if they are out of state for schools, but different parts of the country may have different views of dentists (Southern residencies may preference southern schools, northern residencies may preference northern schools). Just wanted to throw that in there too as another thing to think about.
The southern states also have pretty bad oral health rankings so there might be more opportunity for positions and initiatives there.
I would think that your best deciding factor is curriculum and student body. I don't think you can ignore PBL that is a huge difference between the schools!
True true. Which one is closer to home?Case is not PBL heavy as USC for example. It's more of a hybrid form in addition to lectures in D1 only and that's it. I haven't experienced PBL ever but how bad could it be?

The PBL at Case is absolutely nothing to worry about, its nothing like USC. I spoke with students during my interview and Case is primarily lectures and has some minimal amounts of PBL incorporated into it. Case has plenty of dentists and faculty there to instruct you at all times, probably more than many other dental schools. Case has a great curriculum that prepares you to be a strong general dentist, especially since they are one of the few schools that actually have business and finance courses that teach you how to run a private practice (i asked other schools I interviewed at like UPenn and they don't have such courses at all). The clinical experience is great and you have your own chairs so the patient pool is not a problem at all, this is Cleveland and the Cleveland Clinic is one of the best clinical and hospital care in the country, the patients will be plenty in abundance. Like others have said there were many instructors in the Case dental clinic during the interview so there is no lack of instructors at all. The reputation of Case Western in general as a school is not bad, its overall campus is ranked #37 by USNEWS and has one of the best medical schools in the country, I would imagine it's dental school is no different in quality. Case is a very old dental school from the 1800s so most working dentists know about Case, this isn't a new school like Midwestern, Lecom, or UNLV that practicing dentists have no clue about, Case has a rich history. There are research opportunities but its primarily a clinical school so although the opportunity is there, it is not the focus, but I would imagine Louisville to be no different than Case in terms of research. People specialize from Case every year, just like every other school, but before you consider specializing you need to first do well in dental school so take it one step at a time. Board pass rates is not an issue its very hard to fail out of Case, according to what the tour guides said during interview day. Case focuses on making general dentists, graduating on time is not an issue either. The total cost of Case is $396,000 according to their website which although is expensive its still just slightly above the average for all schools (354K) and is less than the price of MWU, Tufts, NYU, USC, UPenn etc etc. Cleveland is not that bad at least they're not Detroit. They're not Detroit!!!
I dont believe CRWU is less than the price of MWU, they are probably equal but living costs of each place may tip the scale on either side.
and its definitely cheaper than NYU, USC, UPenn
wher do you get the fact that the average cost of all school is 354K? adea source?
seriously imagine your parents seeing you in these at the ceremony. It would be traumatizing and and very shameful, I would possibly be disowned:

Also wishing you well! But the "they hadn't looked at my updated AADSAS" is concerning to me. Is this common? Should I send an email (different school) to remind them my stats changed? Thanks for the advice!
