Hey buddy you're not alone. This is my 5th cycle and 4th dat attempt and waiting for an acceptance for my only pre dec interview is def stressful. Keep your head up and if you really want to become a dentist (which it seems like you definitely do) you will get there...just a matter of time. Trust me I've been through highs and lows, mostly lows but I'm still here stalking the sdn forums waiting for that one acceptance to get me in. Hang in there, bc it ain't over yet.

I thought you could only take the DAT 3 times?

I thought you could only take the DAT 3 times?
You can take it as many times as you want but after the 3rd, you need a special approval. I.e. Showing adea you're still active in applying etc. I think they do this bc people can sit in a test and maybe find the answers and make a questionaire out of it or something. But most schools don't recommend taking it a 4th.

Just got the call from Upenn!! (10:40am)

Did they accept your CC credits? I thought Tufts and BU do not accept CC credits for pre-reqs under any circumstances.
Did you retake your courses at a 4-year institution?
Tufts is on my top of the list but I have pre-reqs from CC so I just did not apply. I would greatly appreciate your input. Thanks!

My understanding when I applied was that if you had taken any pre-reqs at a CC, you must match those credits with upper div courses (under the same course category) at a 4-year institution.

For myself, I took the following at a CC:
1 semester gen chem
1 semester gen bio

I knew that my bio CC credits were covered, but I wasn't sure about the gen chem. I'm wondering if my OChem II satisfied the requirement since Tufts only requires 1 semester of Ochem. I'll have to see during the interview, or I'll probably email/call to ask. If I find out more info in the next week or two, I'll PM you.

YES YES!! Please PM me back after your interview.
I would really appreciate that!!!!
Thank you!!!!

MUSC anyone?
I know, no one is really posting about MUSC. There is a feed for MUSC though, so you could look at that. Im a USC student and haven't heard anything. I'm hoping to hear soon!

is it possible to find out what our ranking is on a waitlist? if so, how can you go about this?

BU accepts up to 30 credits from cc, I've emailed them regarding this topic and they told me they accept non-science credits. example English, or social sciences.

Tufts don't accept nothing from cc.

wow whats your secret?

Scholarships are given at the time of acceptance, you can certainly ask for one, but they have already decided who will get them when they start notifying people.
How do you ask for one? Will that be unprofessional? I am an international student so I think they all assume I can afford it if I had my undergraduate in the US.

Congratulations to the newly accepted students! For you and anyone who has already interviewed: what would you recommend a male applicant wear to an interview? A suit & tie or a sportcoat & khakis/slacks, etc? Thanks!
Definitely a nice suit and a tie. Every male wears one. Interviews are very formal processes. Even women wear suits and high heals. You have to present yourself as professional as possible.😉👍

so i posted this on a thread but no one answered, and i really need some advice, NYU VS RUTGERS: so I'm out of state for rutgers, so id being paying oos tuition, although I've heard u can declare instate after the first year, how hard is this to do, does everyone who tries for it get it? also which school is the better choice, i still have an interview at columbia in January so thats up in the air, but I'm deff gonna put a payment down at one of these schools, i just cant decide which one, based both on cost and which is the better school, nyu or rutgers? and i do want to specialize eventually one day, so yeah , any advice would be much appreciated...

Four acceptances as of yesterday: UNLV, OSU, MUSC, and Pitt. Phone calls for all but MUSC (mail). Scholarship offered at Pitt.

Congrats to all! Get ready for the avalanche of "X or Y school?"

Any ideas of where you want to go yet?

Damn, how are your ECs/research/volunteer.... that is incredible you got in with those DAT scores

EC's / volunteer = around 300 hrs with children hospitals , hospitals, free clinic , coaching multiple youth sports
Research = 700 hours in various biological subjects , mostly ichthyology and entomology
Shadowing= 450 hours

I am a 3rd time applicant. I had a counseling session after being rejected last year , and did what was recommended. I felt my multiple mini interviews were great. My LOR's were great and it was noted that they all thought very highly of me.
To some schools it is not just about the numbers, but also who you are as a person, what you have overcome and experienced in life. Never let anyone say you cant because you can if you really want it.

There were a couple of guys wearing khakis and blazers...and, to be honest, they looked a little under dressed compared to the guys with the nice tailored suits. (in my opinion). Most guys had on dark suits and tie.

wow whats your secret?
I was honest, humble, and just showed them who I was as a person. Sounds cheesy and cliché, but there really is no secret. I applied early, I did research, I volunteered, I shadowed, I was really involved in school, I worked very hard to perfect my personal statement, I had strong letters of rec, I worked throughout college. Just like all other applicants I see posting on here.

For those of you who have gotten into LECOM, is it located in Florida? Im just looking online and I keep seeing different addresses. Please clarify ? Thanks 🙂

So blessed! I got into all three schools that I interviewed at (out of 7 I applied to!) now I have to decide where to go 🙂

Tips to any future applicants: DONT APPLY LATE! I am a second time applicant and got wait listed at three schools last year and this year I got in because I applied as early as possible and last cycle I applied by October.

I absolutely agree with you...early application plays a HUGE factor!!

Thank you for the tips about applying early. Would writing the DAT June 30th but having everything else submitted by early June make it early enough? or should I try to write it one or two weeks earlier?

If you are prepared and ready I would recommend taking it earlier. Always remember that the earlier the better

I took it June 28th, had below average stats, and got one Dec. 1st acceptance. It's doable, but the earlier always the better.
