So I've been perusing this thread for several weeks now and I don't understand...
It is pretty much mid-October and of the close to 50 programs (mostly mid and upper tier programs throughout the country) I have received only about 10 interviews. A lot of the programs that are listed above and people have received interviews at I am still waiting to hear back from. People in my class who have similar or worse stats than me have more than double the number of interviews at this point.
For references:
Step 1 : high 250s
Step 2 CK: 260s
AOA
2 poster presentations and 1 publication
good letters of rec per what I gather from my letter writers
AMG from university program
I should be grateful for what I have, I get it. And I do have a few top tier programs that responded, but they are all far from home in less than ideal places to live for me. It is just so frustrating because the way the dean and program director spoke about my application it was like I would be up to my eyeballs in interviews and that's just not how it's been. I've been take a fine tooth comb to my application to see if there was any red flags that I missed but I can't come up with anything.
Anybody??? 🙁![]()
Definitely agree with the other responders. Presumably, a large chunk at the bottom of your list believe you wouldn't actually end up there and don't want to waste the spot on you (Temple, Jeff, Tufts not feeling the love for a lot of people on this thread you'd think they'd offer an interview to). And, many at the top (MGH, BWH, Penn, etc.) haven't started offering yet. Still spots at many that have started, and invariably people will drop. Don't sweat it at all. My only wonder is why you felt the need to apply to 50 programs with that app.
