First interview for 9/8!!! Absolutely ecstatic as I really wasn't sure if one bad orgo DAT score would automatically put me out of the running...
Applied to only 3 schools and have received my first invite from UNE.
Stats:
Residency: NH
Application Verified ~ 8/23
Invite Received ~ 9/1
3.65 oGPA, 3.45 b/sGPA
DAT AA 19, TS 18, BIO 20, GC 19, OC 15 (!), PAT 20, RC 23, QR 18

Awesome!!! I'll be interviewing with you!! Mine is also on the 8th up there as well. You DAT looks good!

Thanks for that info. I wonder what it is that people report all different times in which they receive supplemental links. Some have days or weeks. I think yours is a record lol.

Mine was the same as Windkp's. The supplemental invite came really soon. It may be an automatic type thing, idk, I could be wrong

I was told to retake the DAT by 1 or 2 schools I think. The rest said don't. 1 school said I should go higher than a Masters and reapply. Yeah, it's a running joke at this point amongst those who know me personally. I'll definitely tell my story at the end of this cycle--like the other guy who tried 6 times. My heart goes out to the people who do postbacc at expensive schools and carry a high debt who still don't get in, but don't go on SDN to talk about it.

I really hope they give you a fair chance this year with a predec interview. I think it ridiculous that no schools is giving you a chance with your credentials. Going above a master? I would of told that school to pay for it if they want me to get a phd before applying to dental school. Trust me dude i feel your pain. I was in your postion last year and i barely could muster the strength to do this a second times. I know i would never attempt this 4 times like you are doing. If anyone deserve a chance, it you man. Good luck.

Thanks man! Appreciate that. 🙂

I really admire your perseverance, trust me, that takes great strength. The average person doesn't have the strength to repeat a process like this multiple times. People get completely disturbed by failing one exam/test, not to mention repeating application cycles 4x.

All I know is you're going to succeed either way. Also, you should definitely take a look at Australia too (I think it's free to apply there, and interviews are done over Skype although their cycle closed a month ago), not sure why a lot of Americans don't consider Australia as an option!

Because there are so many controversies and people call them the "backdoor dentistry"

My guess is because they're not US accredited and you HAVE to do a 2 year qualifying program to practice as a general dentist if you decide to come back to the states. I'm not sure how specialization works though. In any case, it's just a much more straight-forward route for us Canadians to go to Aus/Ireland etc.

But it's not backdoor dentistry, Australia isn't the Caribbean or some random country. It's a developed place with great dentists, clinics, and schools. I'd even argue that Australian dental schools are much better than the average American dental school.

I was about to apply to dental schools in Australia till I found out they start in February since they are on a different schedule then America so I would have to wait an extra year.

I am not saying it is but just wanted to point out there is such misconception. They used to accept students with low stats, which gave them such reputation.

Thanks! Really can't say I have a secret...wish I did so I could let everyone in on it! Only thing is, I always persevered through the challenges I faced in life (like many of us) and I made it very clear why I want to be a dentist in my PS.

Amazing!!! Congrats do you mind sharibg the list of schools you applied to

Another week is here guys! Hoping that school that starts with a type of flower and ends with man will pipe up!

I wonder if they even send out interviews on a federal holiday. RIP.

Pretty much guarantee they won't be sending anything today. So, wait until tomorrow to stress (I know, easier said than done). But, enjoy the day! Go find a beach, workout, read a book, do something you enjoy. You won't hear from schools today, so take some time for yourself. 🙂

I am glad that I am only 10 mins away from beaches 🙂

Some schools do set automated emails to send out the invites once chosen. Some of my friends received invites today.

I got an email from a school today asking me if I was taking physics II lol, such a tease.
