Dude @baratheonfire you seriously need to chill. I totally get the stress levels but no reason to be rude/condescending on many of the threads that I've seen you post on SDN. I usually only read and don't contribute but seeing your negativity constantly made me want to respond to you. IF you don't get in this year get some feedback, change your attitude and try again next year. This is coming from a reapplicant with average numbers.

I think it was more that you assume just because of a higher MCAT that you should be getting DO invites. Especially considering a lot of DO schools have a very holistic approach to reviewing applications. Stats aren't everything fortunately.

(although I do agree it's strange no DO invites with a 34)

No, the point is that you clearly believe stats are everything to DO schools and that they'll all be tripping over themselves to get you.

Sorry to break it to you, but DO schools are not hard up for great candidates with or without high stats. I'm actually kind of surprised @Goro hasn't corrected you on this point. However, not that surprised because you are pretty grating so it wouldn't surprise me if many people on here have started to recognize and ignore you.

Also, as someone else has already stated, DO schools are also often way more holistic than md schools are.

You might want to take a real honest look at your application (ie 3000 hours of community service at 19 with 2 years in college can be seen as deceptive). Also, don't phone in your secondaries if you do apply DO. It's going to end up being a waste of money.

Bara, I can understand why people are frustrated as it's really a stressful time for everyone but I think some people are just being unnecessarily harsh. If they were sick of your posts they can always just put you on ignore...

I think taking a break from SDN and trying to find hobbies that take your mind off this process would be helpful for you. Good luck with everything.

To be fair, a 34 is well above the historic medians of most DO schools. Some DO schools may simply overlook him/her because they just don't want to waste their time. Not saying this is the reason why they have not yet received an interview invite yet, but just a thought.

He has a 38ish not a 34 lol. I have a 514 I am probably applying DO this weekend, I really hope I don't get screened either.

Yeah but even if that is true, on paper the biggest ass can look like the most appealing ass if presented correctly. So he should get II's, how he does during them is another story.

Buddy of mine got into AZCOM a while back with a 34 and decided to attend there. I don't think it's a numerical issue-- like others have said one needs to come into this with humility and gratefulness and hopefully a PS that resonates with adcoms!!

515 MCAT with 4 DO II and 1 acceptance here. Don't not apply because you think you're overqualified for DO if it's something you want to pursue

I agree his tone was condemning and to be honest incredibly arrogant, but hey its SDN, what do you expect?
I wasn't defending bara in the slightest, I was trying to provide the other person some possible insight. I obviously have no idea why they were more successful at this point last cycle than this current one, but I do know sometimes its comforting to attribute it to something rather than feeling totally lost and helpless!

I really fail to see how offering honest feedback makes someone "petty and vindictive." But all right.
 
I wasn't freaked out until today, when I received a rejection from Michigan State University. With a 74 LizzyM, that was the school with the lowest LizzyM average I've applied to. I applied to two other average-above average schools in Michigan that I haven't heard back from, and then a plethora of schools for which 74 LizzyM was the average, including UMich and OOS schools. Could this be a reality check for the quality of my EC's, or is there still hope?

Pm me your list and stats and I will run through my spreadsheet. One rejection from lower average schools doesn't mean a whole lot, are you a mi resident ?
