As 2018 approaches and people are starting to rev up for their CK studying I figured I would start the 2018 Step 2 CK Experiences and Scores Thread.

As always please follow all of the forum / NBME / USMLE etc.. rules and regulations when posting.

My dedicated starts tomorrow, have about 6 weeks to study over the holidays. Hoping for a 250 +, scored a 26x on step 1.

Good luck to everyone taking the exam in 2018!

Took exam on Aug 29, when I click on permit link, it says the candidate may have sat for the exam or the registration is no longer active and not able to view the permit. I was able to see the permit until few days back. Permit expires September end.

Should I expect my result this Wednesday? Very scared. Hope 2 see a reply.

You’re getting results Wednesday

Is it definite. I heard if the permit disappears it means a pass, is it true??
You see the same message or the permit link totally dissapeared.

My understanding was that if you are still able to see "Print Permit," then the score won't be coming that week. I took the test on August 28, and I am able to see the Print Permit option; when I click on it, this is the message: Application error: Permit is not available. The candidate may have sat for the exam or the registration is no longer active.

From reading prior SDN posts, I thought that the "Print Permit" option disappears when the score is going to be released that week.

Can anyone confirm this?

I have the same message as you after clicking on the permit link. My exam was on August 29. The print permit option did not totally dissapear. I don't know what to make of it. I saw the permit few days back. Today it showed the above message you said. Even for step 1 the sunday of the week of my result, i remember getting same sort of message but the link never dissapeared totally, may be i am wrong. Hope some one clarifies!

Permit finally disappeared, took it the 08/17.

medschoolmyname, could you clarify, did the Print Permit option completely disappear? Or are you still able to see the Print Permit option but with the following message when you click on it: "Application error: Permit is not available. The candidate may have sat for the exam or the registration is no longer active."

Also good luck! 🙂

Can u kindly clarify, when u mean permit dissapeared, are you not able to see the print permit link at all OR if u do see & click on it, there's a message saying candidate sat for the exam or permit expired and cannot see the permit.

It is the second case for me. Hope 2 hear back from you.

What exactly does being able to register for Step 3 mean? Starting the application, being able to get through to the payment page, etc.? I created an account and filled a bunch of info in that I don't have yet (current program, fifth pathway, etc.) and made it to the payment page. Does that mean I can successfully register for Step 3?

As long as the link is there to start the application that means you are good to go.

This will only work if you're an IMG/AMG that graduated from medical school that has finished Step 1 and CS.

I agree with all except one thing: in order to begin an application, you do NOT need to be a graduated student. However, in order to SUBMIT an application for approval, you DO need to have already received your medical degree. I am still a student and was able to begin an application (it served as my "did I pass step 2 CS" trick however), I have not submitted yet though due to my ineligibility to do so currently. The system may let me initially, but it states on the website that I'd lose a portion of the money spent if verification fails to confirm a degree........So, I'll wait, and I'm ok with that for now

So the main thing is being able to begin the app (ie get to the payment screen) SHOULD mean passing result.

All the best to those receiving scores this week!!

For those who took CK recently, would you say question difficulty was on par with UW Qs? I read some old posts that real thing was by far the hardest one...

All relative to the test taker and their personal expectations. Someone missing questions that were "easy" or "gimmes" but scored >250 probably has more knowledge than someone who missed "easy/gimmes" and scored 220. Those gimmes at 250 are probably difficult for someone 220-230.

Ok so I don’t see any option to apply for step 3 but my permit disappeared, what does that mean?
The step 3 is on a diff website.

I thought it felt like one of the UWSA exams. The real thing also probably seems harder because you don't get the instant feedback you're used to with UW and there are a lot more questions that you remember afterwards since there are more questions in general. Either way, it's definitely not the most fun I've ever had lol.

Im freaking out!! My permit disappeared etc but step 3 app is not working yet

user Reality19 put it well a few weeks ago:

Interesting. I thought much of the ambiguity behind the Step 3 registration "trick" had been put to rest. From both current and prior forums I have yet to see it be inaccurate for those in fact receiving final scores that release cycle (PLEASE let me know if you've seen otherwise). To be fair, there had been discussion recently as to whether it was discovered and fixed but I have not seen anything confirming one way or the other. I will post my summary of the consensus on it thus far below. I do agree, however, with everyone stating to just wait it out; that will always be best and infallible. On the other hand, I also know that sometimes these little things help occupy our minds during the wait- myself included. So regardless of where people stand on needing to know a most likely result asafp vs just waiting the few remaining days....I wanted to hopefully clear some things up in regard to what has previously been discussed:

1. It should work for both IMGs and AMGs as long as they also meet #2 criteria
2. It MUST be the final step examination of the Step 1, Step 2CS, Step 2 CK sequence
3. You DO NOT need to have already graduated in order to reach the eligibility page (ie positive result). However, to actually submit a registration for approval requires a current confirmable licensure (so for my fellow CURRENT students, I would not try to go beyond that step).

Overall I think reaching the open eligibility page is a positive result, but receiving a continued ineligible message could mean any number of things.

All the best!"

Thank you...ill just wait it out lets hope for best

Just took CK yesterday. I’d say it was slightly more difficult that UWSAs. Marked a lot of questions. I just hope it turns out for the best.

Also, since I took it yesterday, when should I expect my score? Does tomorrow count as my first Wednesday? Lol

It does. Should be 3rd wednesday.

Is it a good sign that I can not reapply for step 2 ck?
What message did you get when you tried to reapply? I'm just getting "An open Step 2 CK registration already exists. If you tested, you may not reapply for the Step until your score is reported. If you did not test, you may not reapply for the Step until 7 days after your eligibility period has expired."

You should be able to reach a payment option screen. I borrowed this image from a poster a few pages back with the same question.

....I just realized the the picture doesn't enlarge ....but hopefully you get the gist. You should see a payment screen.
