All I did today was watch pathoma and boards and beyond. No will to study anymore. First day without any anki in over a year.

It was glorious.

Test on Monday. Just gonna do my stats and pathoma 1-3 decks tomorrow and that’s it. I can’t take it anymore.

UWSA1: 245
Nbme 23: 236
Nbme 18: 232
Uwsa2: 260
Uworld first pass 79.8%

I tried using a calculator on reddit but not tech savvy enough to figure it out. Anyone have an idea/ballpark where I’ll end up? I think I’m on the good side of the curve but the disparity between uwsa’s and the nbmes has me clueless beyond that.

Almost free!

I plugged you into the score predictor (excluding 23) and it has you at a 249 w/ std of 7.6 and a CI of 234-264

Thoughts on reading pathoma 1-3 vs watching pathoma 1-3 tomorrow? How much more detail does he talk about in the videos that would be necessary?

Yo I'm exactly you with the went home to see fam+not getting all I want done done (but with way lower scores). Congrats on finishing and having ridiculous practice scores. I'm sure with baselines that crazy you could be studying in Disney world and still be 250+

I appreciate the kind words. I just had to go home for the Step because I needed to feel connected with my own personal reasons reasons for getting into medicine. Also, I went all sentimental on my Step 1 study and scheduled the exam at a test center just a few blocks away from the house I lived at from birth until I was about 7.

Something about taking it there...the air, the vibe, made the exam feel more epic for me. Haha.

Edit: Forgot to add that I only took the new NBMEs, so it'll be interesting to see the score coorelation.

people who took test already: Did you bring your FA/computer at all to the test to look things up inbetween blocks?

If there is a concept that is tested early that you forget, wouldn't it be smart to control+F FA19 on laptop in between blocks to make sure you don't miss it in the upcoming blocks? Sounds stressful but probably is a good idea

I just looked stuff up on my phone I was unsure about. Definitely recommend it if you had trouble remembering some things. I also made sure my biostats equations were correct after I wrote them down during the tutorial

I feel like for me there’s gonna be so many concepts I forget it would just stress me out haha I like the idea of the double checking equations though. I always mess up the stupid renal ones for whatever reason

Honestly, with the time it takes to check out, take a piss, get your snacks, there's little time to search stuff up (unless you're really quick) to take a break in 5 minutes. That's my own personal experience though. We had an older lady working the check in for the first block of my test who was painfully slow and OCD about every step. On the second block though, we had a younger guy who was really chill and made it as quick as possible.

I looked stuff up in the pathoma book to ease my thoughts on a few questions here and there and also realized I missed a few gimmes. Anything you look up probably has a minuscule chance of coming up on following blocks and you don’t really have that much time depending on how you structure your breaks. But if you just wanna see that page in FA to jog your memory, I don’t see the harm in that.

Honestly i did it only because I did that during practice tests too and it calmed me down a bit making peace with questions. But some other people in my testing center were borderline crying tears into their copies of FA between blocks so yea...probably not for everyone.

The paranoia is setting in now...what are everybody’s thoughts on that score predictor from reddit? I hope it comes out true but damn I’m expecting to underperform haha

Have heard many reports of people saying they essentially got the same question twice, or that their test heavily emphasized something they didn't study block after block. I'm hoping to have my ipad in my locker just to jog my memory if I have a total brain fart on something...

One annoying thing is my testingcenter forced me to show them powering down my device before putting it in my locker. An iPhone 6 takes ages to power on on top of the metal detector, signout sheet, taking off my glasses, flipping pockets, finger printing and putting in a 14 digit code into your computer each break it just ended up being a little stressful.

But no harm in at least having the option

This was my thought... If there is a concept that is tested twice on block 1 that I feel fuzzy about, damn right I wanna look it up in case it is brought up again.

That's interesting. Did anyone else have this experience? My test center when I took the free 120 did not do this. There was also only 7 people in my testing room so getting in/out was very easy. Hopefully it's the same tomorrow

I think part of it is where I tested (main testing center for like 4 medical schools in a big city). People were taking step 1, step 2, step 3 amongst other medical school exams

No way I’m counting on looking stuff up. It took me so long to check back in during the mcat I lost time(5-10 minutes on two parts) at the beginning of each section bc they were training someone that day on how to do it. I’ve got so much ptsd from that I might not even take a break!

This happened to me, same concept, same block, same answer choice. It was a gimme though, wish it was harder.

1 more block of NBME 18 to go... this test is so stupid. Most of the questions are free points, and then there's a handful of impossible questions. I'm sure the curve is harsh because everyone gets all the easy questions, and then your score comes down to which factoids you happened to memorize. I assume the real test will have a lot fewer free points, to give the test better resolution at the high end, so even if this is "predictive" it's probably not representative.

Gonna get a mediocre score and it's gonna hurt my confidence, and at the end of the day I will have learned almost nothing for all my time and effort.

Glad I didn't waste my time doing more of these :rage:

I still don't regret not doing a single NBME. UW 1 and 2 and free 120 this week is good enough imo.

My exam was pretty similar in that regard. The easy questions were EASY, like very very very easy that I was thinking to myself I'm definitely getting tricked because there's no way they'd ask that question. But then they'd hit you with anywhere from 5-10 or so questions per block where you just have to make educated guesses and move on.

^^Pfft! Whatever, that test ain’t even gonna be walking straight when this guy gets done with it.

259, can't be salty about that!

I was tilting really hard with all the dumb questions on the last block and finished with >20 minutes to spare because I was just shooting from the hip and not caring anymore. Looking forward to tapering down this week with UWSA2 -> Free 120 on Tues/Thurs.

I feel like I'm doing dedicated wrong or something, I haven't felt this happy since I started medical school.. 'cause dedicated is supposed to be horrible.. ya know. Or maybe I did my first two years of medical school wrong & this is comparatively far less miserable.
I haven't had to go to my school or listen to the bs. Pure bliss

I loved it. No schedule, just studying and learning.

Can someone predict my score based on my practice exam scores? Unable to find a working link to the calculator.
NBME 15-223 (8 wks out), NBME 16-248 (7 wks out), NBME 20-228 (6 wks out), NBME 21-234 (5 wks out), NBME 22-236 (4 wks out), UWSA 1-260 (3 wks out), NBME 18-250 (2 wks out), UWSA2-260 (today 1 wk out), Taking Free 120 tomorrow and Step 1 on Saturday (6/22).

I have very similar scores to you on the last few exams you took uswa 1-2, 18. My offical prediction is 250. I would not be surprised if you scored 255+-15, probably more like 255+-5.

You guys are crazy I thought it was terrible lol. All grind, all stress, limited social contact. I love learning medicine as much as anyone, but I was miserable for most of dedicated.

Yeah and I have dementia for anything that isn’t studying related. Did I take my morning pills? What year is it?

Thanks man. I will be happy if I could get 250.
Best of luck on your Step 1.

252 is what you get when you plug into the predictor based on your scores. Range of 240-264 with a 95% CI. I'm sure if you had taken more of the older NBMEs the range would go down but 20-24 aren't included in the predictor.

Yeah same. The week after my test about 8 questions trickled into my head and I learned I had missed about 4 chipshots and had only gotten right 1 of the ones I remembered, and now I legit can't remember anything outside of those. Sometimes I wonder if I actually even took it.
Ha this is so relatable. I’m still freaking out over ‘what if you clicked ‘finish block’ without answering a single question on it. Had that very nightmare last night... 3 weeks after the exam :ninja:. Also have a list of q’s I missed, it’s grown to 12 over the past few weeks.Cant wait for scores to come out already...

My list is at about 12 too, half of which would have been 80% correct on uworld . The unfortunate part is i only remember like 20 questions so im sitting at like a 40% so far out of qs i remember. This sucks for sure. Cant stop myself from remembering wrong qs because they just randomly pop in my head sometimes and wont go away till i look them up oof

A few pretty hard blocks but nothing extraordinary difficult. I feel like I’ve seen most everything before which was good.
Definitely already know a bunch I should’ve gotten but made stupid mistakes on. Who the hell knows but I should at least pass (maybe)

Did it feel like UWSA and free 120? Or nbmes?

Just got out. Holy Cow. Tons of Biochem. Tons of pathways.

Feels good knowing there was nothing I could've done to prepare for that beast.

Right now just praying I passed TBH.

It felt more like NBMEs than uworld. Tons of missing information.
It's so weird to me how different the forms are ... I had a friend take it today who said he had a only handful of biochem questions on the entire thing and they were super easy and that it was nothing like the NBME's and exactly like UWorld. I really think the forms are generated completely randomly (ie: they have a question bank and press a button that randomly gives you 280 questions) -- he said within one block he had a question that he wasn't really sure about and then 5 or so questions later he had a question stem that gave him the answer to the previous question. Like blatantly spelled out the info he needed to answer it. He also had 2 questions on the exact same topic asking about the exact same concept for that topic.
