Same but for Kaplan! I'm trying my best not to look at these predictors though as I found it can make me somewhat complacent. But right now my biggest wish is just to be able to take our exam right on time on our originally scheduled date.
Pretty much same. Good luck!

Alright, Just finished with my last final exam. It's full blown dedicated now till July 20th. Which old NBME would you guys advise me to take as baseline? I plan on taking one tomorrow or Wednesday.

3 full months of dedicated?? 😱
Originally, I was gonna take it in June and start rotations in July, but then I didn't feel like I was gonna be prepared enough. So, my school has this built in Non-clinical month in 3rd year that you can use for anything (research, board study....), so I chose to use it as board study for the month of July instead.

Glossopharyngeal neuralgia can present like tic doloreux? (Or however the hell you spell it?)
Yes, which was the answer I picked, which was incorrect haha. Apparently the distinguishing factor is that the pain is more localized specifically to the mouth/jaw/etc, but I literally have never heard of glossopharyngeal neuralgia so I went with trigeminal. I don't feel too bad because only 20% of people got it right and there's nothing about it in FA, but damn sometimes you just get a block with a bunch of WTF questions to crush your confidence lol.

Huh, the more you know. Won’t be missing that one once I come across it. Thank you!

Holy wow. I remember that question! Such a classic Rx low yield af question made by some student that wants to flex on us. Thanks for the reminder. Just so I have it straight glosso neuralgia is more localized to mouth/jaw compared to trigem neuralgia?

Here's what the explanation said:
  • This patient’s symptoms of a sharp, stabbing pain that occurs during swallowing and radiates towards the ear suggest a deficit with her glossopharyngeal nerve, or cranial nerve IX. Paroxysmal attacks of severe unilateral pain over the regions supplied by cranial nerves IX and X are the clinical features of glossopharyngeal neuralgia, an uncommon pain syndrome. Triggers often include coughing, swallowing, talking, or yawning.
Then when explaining the incorrect answers, it said "trigeminal neuralgia can present very similarly, however in this case the pain is more localized to the regions supplied by the glossopharyngeal nerve". It makes sense why it's the correct answer if you know it's something that exists haha.

Anyone know any websites for Review Brain MRI and Ches X-rays!
Radiopaedia for sure. Im sure if you google HY rads for Step 1 in youtube you could focus on the higher yield images since imaging isnt all that HY for Step. Radiopaedia is a little more advanced so maybe start with youtube then work your way over to radiopaedia for more practice

Thanks, i know its not high yield. Got owned on NBME 19 MRI of brain Q's yesterday. Knew the answer, but couldn't pin it on the Pic.

oh truee ya they can get tricky. thing that helps too is always rememberthe image is usually flipped unless it says otherwise. If ur looking at CT chest or abdomen ur lookin from the feet up

I know, i got 2/3 MRI Q's wrong on it and was like shoot. Can't blame all on NBME, but one MRI Q was like a Mother F**ker.. 3 weeks before the exam and yestderday was my base exam.

taking the school administered COMSAE weds guys lol Gotta pop a 400+ or they make us take a prep course lol anyone take theirs yet? How does it compare to UW Rx and NBMEs? Honestly all I care about is Step and could care less about COMLEx as long as I pass but def dont wanna have to take/pay for a mandatory prep course

I took one for my school about a month ago (form 103 I think) and it wasn’t as awful as I thought it would be. Definitely a good number of wtf questions but also a decent amount of buzzword heavy questions too. Question stems were either a sentence or two or an entire paragraph. OMM was mainly Chapman’s points and sacral diagnoses. A lot of random ethics and legal/policy stuff that I’d never heard of and guessed on. Overall a bit more random than the NBMEs and definitely not nearly as well written as UWorld. Our school’s cutoff was a 450 and I passed comfortably so you should be fine!

Lol i heard the questions are written terribly. Thanks for the input! Will keep yall updated on how it felt on Weds

Just finished a 200 Q Combank practice exam that our school required. Got 71st percentile, predicted 566-581. A little disappointed with it, but I realized I missed a bunch of OPP, which I haven’t gone over, and a bunch of Pharm Whose sketchy videos I haven’t done yet.

Oh well. Here’s to hoping the next 55 days can get me above 80th percentile.

Edit: Just checked the breakdown and OMM was by far my lowest being 20% below the national average. Definitely took a big chunk out of me. Oh well. I figured it couldn't be my general knowledge since I'm doing way better in U world and feeling strong about general path. My 10 day UWorld average is 71% and I've gotten a couple of days with 80% so I think I'm on the right track. Guess I'll just have to keep grinding.

How predictive is combank assessment? high 500s is fire dude you still have a ton of time left. Especially if you havent reviewed OMM. Keep grindin. What is your goal score for Step and Comlex

I honestly have zero clue how predictive it is. I don’t really think it’s going to be super predictive, but I guess it is based on all students who took it (so most DO students?).

My goal COMLEX is 90th percentile+ (realistically happy above 80th) and Step goal is 80th percentile+ (realistically happy above 75th percentile).

Not sure what it’ll actually take to get those scores, but figure I’ve gotta try. Some days I wonder if I have a ceiling for material I can retain, length of time I can retain material, and critical reading abilities. I’m hoping to work hard enough that natural ability (limitation?) is the thing that holds me back.

Everyone on here is gonna crush it! You got baller scores already and youre only gonna go up man

Thanks man, I’m sure all of us here are gonna kill it. I feel like the people who are here and actively participating are all self-selected high achievers. Now to continue the grind.

Not sure if y'all caught that reddit post, but if you go to the web version of uworld you can copy and paste now!
Wow. Thanks for sharing this!
Haven't checked the reddit post yet. Any chance you've tried it out yourself? Petrified of getting locked out of it. :l

yea I’ve been doing it the last few days now when creating cards from my incorrects. It’s seriously a game changer

Anyone else starting to see UW scores climb? Lol pretty stagnant over here and im almost at the half way mark

Started around 63% and now at 71% almost a third of the way through. Staying at or above 70 is my goal since I'm not shooting for anything crazy on the real deal.

Are you talking overall percentage or do you take a 10 day percentage? When I look at my overall percentage, it’s crawling up slowly as I do more but my 10 day percentage compared to a month ago is significantly higher.

Started at ~80%, up to 85% correct almost halfway through it. Definitely a bit inflated due to Zanki Uworld cards but doing all of Kaplan before starting Uworld really prepared me well

Ive been at 73% overall for UW since I started. Finished Rx with 73% so I have literally not gone up from low 70s for months. Haven't checked 10 day percentage where do I see that?

Anyone take UWSA1 one yet? Happy with my score, but apparently it overpredicts by 10-15 points

Has anyone had the Prometric centers in their state close down beyond May 1st? A friend of mine said the Prometric in their state just announced closure through June 1st and they were supposed to sit for Step at the end of May. I'm getting more nervous by the day that this will extend into June and push back my test date.

Nothing in WA state yet. Really hoping mine doesn’t get pushed back either as I had a fun trip planned right after my exam and it would become a not so fun trip if I had to keep studying.

Yeah the Prometrics in my state are still saying early May as far as I know. I feel like there are things the Prometrics can do to keep everyone safe while still allowing us to take our exams there and closing until June right now seems a little premature imo.

Our dean told us last week that they're still planning on us starting rotations in July as of right now and that the current third years soon to be fourth years are going back into the hospitals beginning June 22. That could obviously change but I'm really hoping it doesn't.

Yeah I honestly don't understand why it would be so complicated for them to set up procedures for safer testing. I'm more stressed about rescheduling than them actually cancelling my test; I would imagine there's going to be a huge back log of people needing to be rescheduled and I'm not sure what I'd do if I can't test until months into 3rd year.

Agree. I am in no way trying to downplay the seriousness of the situation but I feel like continuing to cancel everything is going to create more problems than implementing a procedure to keep examinees safe while also allowing them to test on time. Everyone wears a mask, everyone gets their temperature checked when they arrive, increased sanitization at each testing site, maintaining social distancing from other examinees etc. It’s not like that’s an environment promoting rampant socialization anyway.

100% agree. I'm just hoping that by middle/end of June they have it figured out one way or the other. If they can't re-open by May 1st, they need to figure out a game plan to have people test with procedures like you mentioned.

UWSA1 usually over-predicts by ~20 points for most people.
So I know that's why people usually say to take it early on, but how early would you say? I'm planning on wrapping up Rx this week and then want to do an NBME this weekend. Would doing UWSA1 ~2 weeks into UWorld be good, or should it be done earlier or later?

I took it about 7 weeks out and got a 245. Since I know it overpredicts by a substantial amount, I took it as a "baseline" but at the same time a goal score I'd work towards during dedicated.

Totally up to you; you're right in that most people take it first.

I saved mine for a week when I needed a confidence boost after being crushed by NBMEs several weeks in a row (totally worked, haha) & I liked that, but there's no wrong answer really.

If you want a fire lit under your a**, take an NBME first. If you take UWSA1 first, don't get overly comfortable unless you can take 20 points off & would be happy with that score.
