Oh wow so youd give arginine continually? I was reading in UWorld that you do low protein diet devoid of arginine
Sorry it should read SUPPLEMENT ARGININE in arginosuccintae synthetease and arginiosuccinate lyase deficiency.
You would want to avoid arginine in an arginase deficiency, like you said.
We learned about this in class believe it or not and it's come up on quite a few NBMES

Dude thats so fire. Thanks a ton

Exam date: July 16 (a week from now). Goal: 220+

Today I got 216 on NBME 18....trying to score 220+. decent improvement since NBME 24 was like a 203 lol

So, if i were to postpone my exam, I have to do so by Saturday. Should I take UWSA 2 tomorrow even though I just did an NBME today (people typically suggest not taking them back to back so I wasn't sure) or postpone and save UWSA 2 for later

Did you take NBME 20-23? How did you do on those?

My highest NBME was 11 points below my real score. I think if you’re wanting a 220 but getting 216s on NBMEs, you’re probably just fine. It’s up to you, though! Just be confident when you walk in, regardless.

I'm basically in the same boat as you. Before you postpone, I would go through 18 and see if there is one particular subject you struggle in. Once I found my specific weaknesses, my scores have been able to go up a fair amount.

When people say pathoma 1-3 is high yield, does ch3 (cancer) really come up a lot? I feel like it barely comes up on my NBMEs and Uworld, but I do get a lot of Ch1 and Ch2

I hardly ever seen it either! I thought most of the information towards the end was basic. Like the p53/rb/e2f. Would give the first part a watch maybe

Hey guys, long time lurker, few time poster. Got my scores yesterday and today so thought I'd post my practice and real scores.

COMSAE 103b (4 weeks from COMLEX): 652
(see below for other NBMEs before COMLEX)
COMLEX 6/6: 644
--------
NBME 17: 205 (4/26, 8.5 weeks)
NBME 19: 217 (5/17, 5.5 weeks)
UWorld First Pass: 57%, 34th percentile (5/19, 5 weeks); used gradually along with school work since January
NBME 22: 221 (5/25, 4.5 weeks)
UWSA1: 245 (6/8, 2.5 weeks)
NBME 18: 239 (6/14, 1.5 weeks)
UWSA 2: 245 (6/21, 4 days)
Free 120: 90% (6/21, 4 days)
UWorld Second pass: 86%, 95th percentile
Amboss: 68%

Predictor: 249 (CI range 235-262)
Step 6/25: 246

Overall, very happy!

Also, I'm proof that this is possible with 1) never touching Anki (not my vibe, couldn't get into it) 2) have a meh MCAT (505)
Congratulations!

Would you consider doing a write up showing future students what you used besides anki?

Really wish I had pushed back comlex to next week to take it along side with step. idk I just woke up with a bad feeling in my stomach about it.

At the same time things could be much worse. I've had 3-5 friends tell me that they failed the UWSAs so they pushed there step dates back a week. (watch this jinx me and I fail UWSA2 on Sunday)

you're getting a 230 on UWSA2 i'm putting a bet on it.

Also burnout is real today. Can't stay focused at all. Probably just gonna do a ****load of questions so I force myself to study basically.

I appreciate the support lol. and I totally love "question days" Just wish Uworld had shorter stems

Sure! It was really quite simple, I used the typical UFAPS.

Before dedicated while still in class, I'd supplement class material with Sketchy's and Pathoma, and occasionally First Aid. I did 1-2 blocks of UWorld a day during our spring quarter.

Then I had about 4 weeks of dedicated before COMLEX, and 6.5 weeks before Step. I'd wake up around 7am and do 120 questions, usually UWorld with some Amboss. Then I'd review all 120 and that would put me at lunch time. I did review pretty fast - if I got it wrong or guessed, I'd find that FA page, see if the info is on there and highlight/underline, and if it wasn't I'd write it in the margins. I wouldn't spend extra time watching a video or something on a question I got wrong at that time. The weeks closer to my exams I sometimes did 160-200 questions (added some in the evening if I finished reviewing earlier).

Then the rest of the day I'd spend with 1 FA chapter, and watch associated pathoma/sketchy's with it and make sure I read every page of that section. Some of the longer chapters I'd stretch over 2 days. With this approach I was able to cycle through all the chapters probably 3 times before COMLEX, and 1-2 more before Step. The more repetitions I did, the less time it took because I didn't feel the need to watch the videos again and again and I was getting more familiar with the info. I think what helped me the most was literally just memorizing FA and memorizing/understanding all of UWorld

ahh okay will do!! Hope you do well on on UWSA 2!!

Welp June 14-28 COMLEX fam, it looks like we’ll be waiting until Monday for scores. I guess that’s what I get for hoping the NBOME would rip off the bandaid today and let me enjoy my weekend.

When was it released yesterday??

Around 3-4pm but people on Reddit have called the NBOME and were told our scores will be released on Monday.

At least we know! Every time I’ve gotten an email notification today for my school email I feel like I had a PVC or two. At least that’s over until Monday.

When was it released yesterday??

My score was released yesterday at 1pm central time. Got a 576, which I am pretty satisfied with. Was playing around on Freida the other day and noticed some programs I'm interested in have a 500 cutoff for COMLEX so I was getting kinda worried I wouldn't hit that lol.

I would sacrifice a goat at the altar of AT Still for a 500 rn. Nice work!

Yes but what techniques would you perform on it before the sacrifice? It’s not like a sacrificed goat with unbalanced sympathetics is worth anything

Shoot you're right. Need to work on perfecting my BLT technique to ensure that goat is perfectly balanced and might as well throw in some ganglia releases too for good measure.

Ugh before I took it I was super confident I would get a 500, after actually taking it though........

You know med school has messed you up mentally when your grandma dies and your first thought is "wow this is really going to get in the way of my studying" Jesus
I'm so sorry :/ I know its not the same but my aunt was horrible sick when I started dedicated and we were told she wasn't going to make it. Wish there was something we could do.

all good fam. To be honest shes been slipping into demential for years now and no one wanted to talk about it. Its probs more humane for her time to come

so i ended up taking UWSA 2 and got wrecked by the experimental biochem lol 225...is it risky to take it thursday if I want at least a 220? I hear it can overpredict nowadays but wasn't too sure!

UW is pissing me tf off. Any of you 250+ scorers get under 80% on blocks 2-3 weeks before your exam? Im still getting 75s at times (75-85 pm avg). It feels like most people who scored above 250 were above 80% consistently in the weeks leading up to their exam. I gotta get 250+

5% is only 2 questions wrong. I feel like that is a small enough number that you can chalk it up to randomness. I could easily be wrong about that but it is usually the mindset I have taken

I scored 13 points over my UWSA 2, and I took it on a Tuesday and took step on a Sunday. If that helps at all.

How far are you into uworld? If you're 90% in, they've added a lot of harder questions recently.

Holy crap really? You took step already? So your form on the real deal felt really hard
Yes! Took it early july. Haven't gotten my score back. Not really sure how to describe it. There were some gimmes I think probably no more than 15. Some super hard one's I had no clue. Everything else in the middle was worded in such an odd way, to the point where you can't even look them up. So on a 1-10 scale I'd say 6-7. Genetics felt like USA2. Everything else felt like NBME. Biostats no calculations, just weird interpretations. Some MCAT things show up too. I have zero clue how I did.

Youll have a crazy good curve lol i know the high scorers on this thread and I remember youre one of them so if you thought it was a 6-7 then other people were probably dying lol
