Official 7/27 Exam Thread!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
A seat opened up at the testing center on my block, so I postponed. Now I feel so great that I have over a month left - just not sure what is the best way to spend my time.

What is everyone's study schedule for the next month like?

Practice with EK 1001, the rest of BR questions, and full-lengths. I took my own notes while doing content review and will be reading them over.

im finishing up a summer school physio class which is helping tremendously with bio, i need to stop scoring 7s though for stupid misakes :/ verbal im scoring 9s, and PS... umm i dont want to talk about it lol kaplan is making it toooo hard for me to understand whats going on :/ I just want a 28+ ahhh !! hope it's possible

I'm going over chad's videos while taking notes, reviewing them and then doing BR and TPR questions. I've been taking a FL every monday and will be till the exam.

So most of you guys are applying this cycle? I'm wondering when schools look at completed apps and if this date is too late..
if you can improve your mcat score from a 29 to a 33 by moving to this date from early July, is it worth it?

yes assuming all other parts of your app are good.

Today: Go through all flashcards. Re-read TBR Gen Chem I and Physics II, highlight, and finish all passages. Re-read EK Bio, supplement with TPRH. TPRH Science Workbook Passages. TPR Online Drills. Try to squeeze in TBR Orgo.

Tomorrow: Try to finish entire AAMC Self-Assessment. Flashcards. TBR Orgo I and II and passages.

Monday: Full length

Fun!

How is everyone doing? I am pushing back my full length until Friday so I can finish the MCAT Assessment and review Optics and all of Orgo. 🙂. Is everyone on practice tests?

so far ive done TPR 1,2,3,4,5. TPR Cracking 1. AAMC 3.

planning on doing TPR Cracking 2,3. AAMC 4,5,7,8,9,10,11.

so the plan is to continue doing 2 a week. and then review + brush up on concepts.

doing quick read of the EK manuals. Finished EK 101 but i dont think its great practice- but good for just getting used to doing 1 hour tests.

I've decided that I'm done with content review. Screw light and optics, don't even remember if I actually saw the materials in physics I or II. (My bf confirmed that they were indeed part of the phys I, lol).

Kaplan Diagnostic: 19 (5/6/8)
Kaplan FL1: 26 (8/9/9)
Kaplan FL2: 30 (11/8/11)
Kaplan FL3: 28 (10/10/8)
AAMC 3: 31 (9/12/10) --> this is like my highest verbal ever! Maybe the VR here is a bit easy.

Gonna evaluate my PS and BS tonight and tomorrow. Sharpening. Yay.

Well looks like I'm officially in this one. Coming from a 29, going to get a 31+ on this one. Need to work on my analysis skills for BS big time and score 11s consistently on Verbal to bank on that.

how long did it take you to go from the 19 to the 26 and so on? I too got a 19 lol

Ug. Finally finished the MCAT Self Assesment Bio. Didn't do as well percentage-wise as I wanted. 👎 Disappointing.

I highly recommend getting it - it is all the questions they cut out of the old versions of the test (3R, 4R, 5R, 7R) and stuff from 1,2 and 6. If you are scoring 33+ I don't think it will be that helpful... but for everyone else it is great practice!

It was probably a month, and then maybe a week or two going from 26 to 30. Few days later, boom, 28. That all happened last April just after I finished with Kaplan.

The latest (31) was yesterday.

Hi all,

I'm a 5/24-er and im selling my BR books + other materials if anyone is interested! PM me 🙂

good luck!

july 26th taker here

5 fls done so far. trying to do 2 a week till the 21st and then one final one on the 23rd. seeing improvement in verbal and bio but need to brush up on some physics concepts. hoping for less ochem on the real deal, though i think if one really has ochem down cold, they are gimme points.
Retaker from 5/24 here. I had these same thoughts about orgo going into the 24th's exam, however orgo is now the reason I am retaking... Don't underestimate orgo 🙂 For me orgo was gimme points until it mattered. Anywho good luck all!

thanks for the heads up. can you elaborate? i thought orgo was only 20% but some people say they had 3-4 orgo passages.

Hahaha oh yeah. Know your NMR, shielding, deshielding and nucleophilic reactions. Just know everything for every section, don't count on the percentages.

If you get time to read the thread titled "Judgement day: May 24th at around page 20 or so i would assume" or something like that at least, people did a good job of explaining their thoughts post test. We had 2-3 orgo passages if i remember correctly, but I think what threw me off was the amount of experimental passages that were given. The BS section felt as if it were a verbal section which admittedly was a known weakness of mine. I guess my point is, I fell into the trap of skipping some material that I felt very confident in, and paid the price.

how many experimental passages are usually on the mcat? i never even knew there was such a thing? so one complete passage doesnt count towards your score?

... not as in the passage was experimental, as we have no way of knowing what is graded and what is experimental....Sorry I should have clarified, experimental as in it was an experiment based on orgo stuff.

*quickly read some more organic stuff* 😱

Hey guys,

I am also taking the test on July 27th. I was wondering if anyone has access to the practice test 11 answer key. I have the PDF of the practice test 11, but with no answers to compare. Please help a brother out!

Good luck to you all!

just got a 6 in PS in aamc 4, hope I have time to improve! 🙁

on AAMC #3 my PS was 10, then on #4 it dropped to a 6 (my sister felt like barging into my apartment). A week after #4 I took #7 and my PS went up to a 8 so hopefully the trend continues...

25 days till the 26th. gonna have to start changing my sleep pattern soon and start doing my fls at 8am.

on #4 i got 4 wrong through question 26 then 15 wrong for the last half of PS.

I hope you all are studying hard.

Just finished AAMC 4:

PS (9):
Was severely distracted for the whole section. I had Euro 2012 playing in the background because my favorite team was playing. They were losing 2-1 (if you know who they are good for you). I am still mourning for that loss!!!! What a heartbreak. Thought maybe this is the year.

VR (9):
Not my strong suit anyway. Can't really predict my performance in this section. My lowest ever was 8, so I guess I will take anything above that one.

BS (14):
This is probably a fluke. Ouch.

Total 32. Did not bother with writing at all.

35 is really good!!! 👍

I'm still way below my target score, lol. I find the PS hard to tackle. Well there's room for improvement! :luck:

just got done with TPR cracking the mcat 2 and feel like I rocked PS and BS. VR was kinda tough. but they seem to be doing some maintenance with the site so i cant see my score. anyone else have this problem with TPR?

i was planning on taking aamc 11 last but after reading that discussion on how it can be a wake up call for some im thinking of taking it a bit earlier. anyone else doing the same?

can you elaborate on what you mean by wakeup call?

i've taken AAMC Full length: 3, 4, 5
and got 24, 24, then 32.
I tried looking up the 'ease' factor of the AAMC's and couldn't find it. I know I could look harder though.

Early ones up to 8 are easier, but just try to do well in all of them. The later ones (9-11) do have some more in depth analysis required for the passages which makes them harder.

yea pretty much. ideally it shouldnt be a wake up call if you have a solid understanding of the content + done other fls.

but i was planning on doing 11 on june 23rd (26th taker here). i think ill take it earlier now so i can have time to reevaluate a few things in case

Hey 7/27er too!

I plan on taking 7 FLs. I've done 2 so far Kaplan #6 (37) and AAMC #3 (33). I'm a retaker so I'll be doing mostly TBR FLs since I've done all the other AAMC tests.

Any other retakers?

am i the only 7/26 er here?

15 days left.

you guys visited your test center to have a look and all yet?

I've had similar scores, AAMC#3 & #4 both 25 - verbal is killing me with a 7 & 6 respectively.

i'm a retaker! a year later though.
reapplicant.
fingers crossed this time!

Same- retaker/reapplicant here! Previous score was a 27 (9-9-9) so I'm hoping for that magical 30+ this time around. I've taken 2 aamc tests, (aamc 8=29, aamc 3= 30) and I'm planning on taking all the others before the test. Staying motivated is getting tough, but we are almost the finish line!
