Anyone worried about their extracurriculars sounding too impersonal? I feel like I tried to be very broad with them and didn't include personal experiences and anecdotes in them.

Can we edit them even after submission?

you can edit after submission....however, if it's before your app is verified go ahead. if you're trying to edit it after it's been verified, the colleges can see all the edits you've made.

Does anyone know if you must wait to submit until it's been verified?
Also wondering if anyone knows how to input a double major?

Thank you!

Hey guys, fairly new to SDN and I have a question about the app. I want to get my grades in and get it verified but my PS is going through corrections and I'm having other people read it. Can I get my app verified without the PS (maybe just putting some random words in that part of the app) and after I am done with the PS can I add it back in?

I think I've seen people asking about making corrections after submitting, but does that work with the PS? How would you guys do it in my situation and would there be any problems with my idea? Thanks.

I know with the AACOMAS, you can edit after you submit. But isn't that still taking a chance? Say you submitted without a complete or finished PS, and AACOMAS release the application to the schools. I guess AACOMAS would also release any updates to those schools once a week or so... but I still wouldn't want them to see an incomplete PS.

An alternative option would be to submit to one school you're not all that interested in just so you can get verified and then submit to the remainder schools once your PS is done.

Official have to be sent. You do it through MCAT THx and request they be sent to AACOMAS. An AACOMAS customer service guy I just spoke with said to make sure your name on MCAT THx matches your AACOMAS name exactly and that your MCAT/AMCAS id is entered correctly on the AACOMAS app. He said it should take about 3 business days for the score to get reported.

All of my stuff was good to go, so I don't know why my score hasn't made it to AACOMAS yet. I just resent it. If it's still not up in three days, I'll call again.

Did you have to pay to send/ release scores to AACOMAS? My scores don't release until July 23- trying to decide if I should go head and submit my app or wait til scores release? I may end up needing to retake MCAT

I had the same question as premed and I was thinking of doing it your way. So when I am done with my PS and put it on my app that one school that I am not interested will see my incomplete PS (which I don't care cuz I'm using it solely to get verified) and the rest (which I will add afterwards) will see my completed PS? Just making sure, thanks.

Thanks for the reply! So do you mean that I must submit it prior to sending my transcripts? Or is it OK if they receive my transcripts and it still hasn't been submitted? Will they verify once it's submitted?

Also, does anyone know how to enter your transcript/grades if you're a double major?

Thanks!!

I mean that you have to hit the submit button before your application is put in line to be verified, and I believe that you have to have your transcripts in before they let you submit, but don't quote me on that. Try, and you'll know the answer if the system doesn't let you.

As for the double major thing, it should not matter. You enter grades based on the institution you took the class in, not what major the class applies to. If you got both majors from the same university, put them all together.

Just wondering how it works if you submit your application to get verified and you have old MCAT scores on there. I took the MCAT today and not sure if I will have to take it again or not. Does this the verified app get send to schools before I get my new MCAT scores? Or do I have to authorize when it gets sent to schools so I can upload my MCAT scores?

I could start the AACOMAS application now and it will be saved for 2014 - 2015 right?

Yes! As long as you don't submit it during this application cycle, it will be converted over to next year's app cycle.

I also took a YOGA class that's in the kinesiology department. Does that count as an other science ?

Thanks for the reply. The only thing is, do you by chance know if I enter the institution once or twice? The instruction booklet seems to conflict itself?

Did anyone get their apps as undelivered? For those that have when you resubmitted how long did it take for you to get verified? I'm debating whether to resubmit to get it verified before my updated transcript comes in showing my upcoming Fall classes that have english classes I am taking. Would it be a big deal if my app doesn't show my english classes at first glance?

Also for people who are submitting, are you guys listing future ECs that you have guaranteed but have yet to start?

Official AACOMAS instruction manual doesn't help me here.

What do you guys think "Intro to chemistry" and "intro microbiology" should be designated as? The Intro chem I took freshman year and it was just a continuation of high school chemistry to prepare for gen chem 1...Should it go under "inorganic chem" or "other-science" or "non-science"?

The "intro microbiology" was a 2000 level course but not credited towards my major. Should it be under "biology" or "non-science" or "other-science"?

Thanks in advance!

Can anyone please give me an idea of how long it took AACOMAS to verify their transcript? I've been waiting for a week now with no results..

It will take longer because this is the absolute peak time for things to be sent out. They're probably under four feet (approx) of transcripts. Wait another two or three weeks and then check in.

Just called AACOMAS about adding ECs after you submit. You are allowed to add ECs after you submit and are verified, however they are having technical issues that aren't allowing people to update after submission. He said hopefully this issue will be resolved within a week.

sweet! I hope to submit my application tonight!!! 🙂

What if I wait a few more weeks and find out they didn't even get it? Ugh :/

I don't understand how to enter my AP coursework. on my official transcript, it is all lumped as undergraduate AP credit, but the AACOMAS instructions say "The subjects and credit hours you received for these courses must appear on your official transcript. If these do not appear on the transcript, an official letter from the registrar is required."

so do I enter the individual AP credits that I got, then have a letter sent in? Is this really necessary?

How do you indicate that you were on the dean's list for multiple semesters? It says put it in the explanation box but where is it? Also on the personal statement section, there's no instructions on what to write about ? Any explanations ?

I want to submit NOW!!!! Did you all write details about your clinical observations/shadowing on your ACOMAS application? If I decide to make a couple changes post-submission will it delay my applications verification?

I need help figuring out the verification process.

Does this really work? I really want to submit my application but I want to add somethings but I don't know the names for them yet. Like some surgeries that I observed during shadowing, I want to ask the physician the proper names for them so that I can put them on my application.

I wanted to create a centralized thread about post-submission aacom changes. I know that we are allowed to update our applications after we submit the application. However, some have stated that there appears to be an error right now with the application and that the medical schools will receive your original application even if you made post-submission changes. Some are recommending to submit your application to a school that you care less about to get your application verified and then after you make your changes to submit it to the schools. Is this a good strategy? Also, does making changes to your application postpone the verification and release of your application?

What about your application is not complete that you cannot submit without changes?

My application was verified a couple of days after I submitted on June 3rd, and I made some changes to my ECs on Tuesday (6/18). The application that went out today that my schools received does have the changes I made. So far I haven't heard of anything about ppl sending their apps out and having the non-updated app sent out. I spoke with an admissions person today and they did say that AACOMAS sends them updated applications weekly and they constantly look at the updated version.

What about your application is not complete that you cannot submit without changes?

I know that I want to add some details about my shadowing experiences like the names of the specific treatments that I observed. However, I wanted to check with the physicians about their actual names. I probably won't see one of them until the end of next week though. So I would really like to submit before then.

Also, people are always commenting on my PS... I like it as is but maybe I will make some changes in the future if I am compelled.

I classified my genetics class as biology on the aacomas🙁. Now my processed application shows a deficit in genetics for the schools that require it. What should I do now? email the schools directly or email aacomas? I have a feeling if I email aacomas, they will re-verify my coursework and that will delay my application....

I know for sure that you can add/change your ECs. For the personal statement, people have been telling me that you can change it too. What AACOMAS does is they send out your updated app every Tuesday (don't trust me on this day, it's what I've heard) and school will re-upload them and if they don't, just give them a call and tell them that you have a updated app up. I hope this helps and tbh I am new too and I am just picking all the info up from reading SDN so hopefully some vets can chime in on this.

What happens if we do not list all of the required courses we plan to take? Can we update that part also?

I did the same for mine and I found that after it was verified they changed my bio designation to genetics. I would assume they would do the same for you so don't sweat it.

I might be wrong, bit I seriously doubt there is much of a difference between submitting today versus next week. Maybe im old school, but I did not submit my app until everything was finished and complete.

I want to know about this too because I never took an English literature course and a lot of DO schools require that. I don't want to be denied acceptance due to a silly English lit course.

No point in speculation. Monday, get on the phone with every school you are interested in applying to and find out what they say.

Admissions will be the one and only say in all of this.

Also, most schools will still accept you if you don't meet a pre-req. You just have to finish it before you matriculate.

Funny enough, I had a question related to this!

Let's say that I applied to one school ("A-COM", and let's call this application version #1), made some edits to the PS while it was still processing (version #2), and a week after it got verified and sent to the first school (on a Tuesday, I presume), I made some edits to the PS again (version #3) and then I submitted my application to another school ("B-COM").

At the end of the day, which version of the application will the schools be able to access and assess? Would "B-COM" be able to access versions #1 and #2, or just #3? If it's the former, I presume "A-COM" could access #1 as well - and if it's the latter, then I'm guessing "A-COM" could only access #2 and #3?

I hope that's not too confusing and thank you in advance!

See if it changed. If they didn't fix it, tell them

I have the same problem. Which schools require genetics btw?
