How has the curriculum changed exactly? What more requirements are there in preclinic? Whats more during the first year?

sfoksn already covered most of the unique aspects of Columbia in reply to this same exact question you posted before. Please stop spamming. 🙂

Got my acceptance today!!! =D!! Definitely going.

It arrived Jan 15th at my preferred address (not my permanent as others reported for the first round), was dated January 11th, and says that I have until Feb 4th to put down a deposit. I had interviewed on December 3rd.

I am so happy!!

Zzyyfff - Congrats! Where are you located?

Is Columbia your first choice? I'm all the way on the west coast so I'll have to wait. 😉

Yes it is. Actually, I have one administrative/logistic thing to check up on this week before I can say that I am for sure 100% going. It's looking quite likely tho!

I hope you find some low-stress activities to occupy yourself while waiting. I sure know how it can be. =)

does anyone know if they have tutoring for the students and review session for the nbde? thanks

What's been going on with Columbia? I called and asked about the decisions for those who interviewed in December and I was told that decisions weren't mailed out yet. So how is it that some people that interviewed in Dec have stated that they've received they're decision already?

what number did you call? i tried calling and no one ever picked up...

The only one on their website. I've tried calling several times and no one picks up either but I think I just got lucky that one time yesterday lol. But yea, that's what they told me and that doesn't coincide with the fact that others have posted that they've been accepted. Maybe they didn't understand my question? It's the only thing I can think of.

That is really weird.....I am getting increasingly anxious and just want to hear back! Just hoping that we will hear back this week

Still nothin here....Someone on predents that interviewed on dec 10th claims they too were accepted yesterday. Not sure at all what to expect now 😕

Dang, it looks like someone on predents claim they're from California and gained an acceptance. So much for that west coast delay...

So does that mean that we are out of luck......?

I am just getting annoyed in reagrds to what my status is. Columbia is my #1 choice and I have other interviews lined up over the next few weeks that I would rather not attend if Columbia says Yes. The problem is that I have to spend money on making travel arrangements to attend these interviews and I would rather not spend more money on potentially unnecessary trips. I just want to know

Do third and forth years get their own chair at Columbia? How does the chair situation work?

Were you sleeping at the interview or something? This was all covered pretty well.. you rotate on the chairs but they have 84 lab seats for 75 students so in case something is broken you can just move to another seat while it gets fixed.

Not sleeping, just forgot.... It's been three months.
This is for both 3rd and 4th years?
So you are guaranteed a chair? You don't need to rotate with another person on the same chair and schedule it?

interviewed dec 17, accepted jan 14,

as for the 3 and 4 yr chair situation, what was said during the interview was slightly misleading. I was told everyone has a seat, which is true, but you only have clinic like once or twice a week. So you are essentially rotating with another one or 2 people.

this is the case for both 3rd and 4th year?
so you need to schedule your time around another person?
dont other schools have chair time more than twice a week?

Any more decisions (acceptances/waitlist offers) sent out recently?? Does anyone know when the next batch of decisions will be mailed out? The waiting is horrible lol.

So... nothing?? 😕

i dunno.. they said im not on the waitlist or rejected so i dont know whats going on. i had the interview in sept and when i called in dec they told me to call back in jan when they send out 2nd batches of acceptance and when i called then, same response that im still under review. i almost lost my hope in columbia. i feel like im just waiting to be rejected. you can call diana lugo anytime. she will tell you what your app status is.

Hey congrats everyone who's been accepted!!👍

I have an interview coming up and I was just wondering if anyone could recommend me transportation and a good place to stay? I'll be flying into LaGuardia if that makes any difference.

I never received any interviewee travel guide/information so I have really no clue on how to get there and when/where the interview. Did they snail mail that stuff? If they emailed it, could someone forward it to me?

Thanks in advance for any help:laugh:.

Congratulations on getting the interview.

Sorry I can't help you out with the travel information, but do you happen to know when is the last day of Columbia's interviews?

Thanks!

Hey Penny,

No worries about the travel info!

Sorry I have no idea but I'm guessing that my interview is on one of the later dates. Your best bet would probably be checking predents to see when the latest interview has been scheduled. Best of luck to you!:luck:

they emailed me yesterday saying they only had two dates available. feb. 11th and feb 18th.

3rd/4th year chair situation

i assisted a 4th year last week and he explained it like this

he has 2.5 days in the clinic each week where he has his own designated chair. He has 2 days of the week and the other student has 2 and then they alternate on fridays.

however, when hes not in our clinic hes at a hospital pretty much functioning as a GPR resisdent or on a peds rotation.

He didnt have any complaints about the chair situation

does anyone know the tuition + tools + books and stuff without living
