***Official Acceptance Thread for University at Buffalo C/O 2015***

My acceptance was notified via e-mail, but I haven't received a phone call from Dr. Brown. Did all of you receive phone calls from Dr. Brown?

My AADSAS status also changed from "Offer Made" to "Received/Under Review". Did anyone get this? Should I be worried?

Dang, Penny... You probably should call them. Dr. Brown didn't get to me late until late in the afternoon on 12/1, around 5-6 EST, but he did call. My AADSAS status hasn't changed from "offer made". I hope everything's fine.

I would call the office just to make sure that you're on the same page with them. If your AADSAS hasn't changed or you haven't received a call yet, give them a call. The folks there are super nice.

Thanks guys. I just spoke with Dr. Brown and the offer still stands. There just happened to be a mistake on AADSAS. Phew.... 😀

Does Buffalo have a summer research opportunity similar to NYU's summer research experience with a possible deans award for dental students? where can i find this information for buffalo?

Buffalo does have the Summer research opportunities. It is competitive, because there are only certain amount of spots opened. You do get a stipend for the time spent researching. I found this link;

so why are you guys choosing buffalo exactly? what aspects sparked your interest specifically?

How are you guys looking for roommates for next year? Where are you looking to live? etc...

Hey there c/o 2015! Just sent in my deposit. I'm moving from San Diego to Buffalo. Somebody told me the weather is better there. And the football team too.

sweet. just withdrew from every other school, heading to Buff next year.

Hiii
congrats on your acceptances! I have my Buffalo interview in January and I am very nervous 🙁 do you mind telling me about your writing topic?? and how was the discussion ??

Right in time for the holidays....best Christmas present ever!!!

I just received my acceptance e-mail yesterday morning 🙂

Just wondering though...I didn't receive a phone call from Dr. Brown, although I haven't really been home lately (tons of Christmas shopping)...and my AADSAS status hasn't changed yet...should I be worried?

Is an All wheel drive car necessary for Buffalo? If so, which would be the best car for the snow conditions... any favorites? haha

hmmm, best care probably a hummer, lol. seriously though I think good tires are as important as drivetrain. get snow tires with thick treads that you take off during the summer, so as to not wear them down and they will last longer. audi has great 4 wheel drive, you could prob find an older used a4 for a decent price.

So where do most dental students live? Where is the best area?
I was told near north campus is good because its a lot more safe there and quality of living is great near north campus
I am trying to find a 2 bedroom apartment (or condo) in a very safe location (i guess, north of South Campus, (but not too far from the dental school)) and where heat is included in the rent. The rent price range about $800 - $1200 for 2 bedrooms. Not a run-down place. Ideally, a 10 month lease, as well.
Any ideas?

I have heard that Buffalo's dental curriculum is changing... is there any truth to this? If so, how is it changing exactly?

Hello All - Congrats on UB Acceptances Everyone! =)🙂

I interview on Jan 14th and it went great, but I still havn't heard whether im accepted, denied or waitlisted - how long after your interview did you find out you were accepted? I haven't slept in two weeks Im so anxious!

Barbara Weinberg told our group that if you were not part of the December 1st batch, acceptances/rejections can go out at any time after your post-December interview.

I interviewed on 1/7 and was waitlisted on 1/10. The admission committee votes on applicants while they are out touring the school so I'm guessing they made decisions on your batch on your interview day. Someone from my interview batch was accepted at the same time as my alternate position email. However, things could be different as things were moving when we were there: they had just heard from applicants who were accepted on 12/1. Hope this helps. Waiting patiently seems to be the way to go these days.

I interviewed on the 14th also. No news here either.

A relative of mine interviewed the week before the 14th and he heard back on the following Monday (10th) evening via e-mail and AADSAS.

I'm hoping to hear something soon, but I'm going to give them a call on Monday. Regardless, I hope everyone the best of luck. :xf:

how many students that apply for residency (specialties) programs get into their residency of choice?

I cannot imagine waiting for 2 weeks. My interview was on jan 27th and I am already very nervous .... on the interview date they asked us to contact the university in two weeks if we did not hear from the school so I think you should call if you still haven't heard anything...

everyone please post your interview dates if you post an acceptance post !!!!

I have heard that Buffalo's dental curriculum is changing... is there any truth to this? If so, how is it changing exactly?

There is a new dean at the Dental school who is making a few changes.
I made sure to ask a lot of questions to many faculty during the interview process and the two main things were:

1. Increase public knowledge of dental school's impact on the community to increase possible sources for funding.

2. Increase the amount of time students are working on clinical skills. Preclinical training will start in the 2nd half of the year one.

Could someone tell me or let me know where I can find info on Buffalo's placement rate of their graduates into specialty programs please? How do Buffalo student's do in matching in more competitive specialities like ortho, oral surg (6 year program), and endo?

Does anyone know the steps to take in order to apply for financial aid for buffalo other than FAFSA? What forms and applications need to be filled out for Buffalo's financial aid exactly?
Does Buffalo have a FAFSA deadline?
