In the continuing spirit of the tradition started last year, we will hold this as your official countdown til score release thread. You can use this as a countdown, but may also post in here general conversation if you are just going insane over this wait. Also, this may not be an exact of when the scores will come out, but we don't know how many days before the official 60 days are over they will come out. Last year, they came out around June 15th at 10pm. But this will give us a rough approximation.

Ok, let the fun begin.........

59 days and counting........

Lets pray for all of you and for my very best roommate, and two of my other bestest friends. 😀 May all come with good news in the following two months.

This is for the neurotic ones who just need somewhere to vent their frustration over the wait. 😛

I actually started to misbubble twice (once on PS and once on VR). Had to erase about 5- 10 questions and re-bubble. (yes I erased completely). It can happen to the best of us. Luckily I caught it.

Oh $hit, what if I misbubbled?!?! :scared:

Only scores will end this....

so Q, is it normal to feel really bad after the test? I took two months off to study and it was such a let down to walk out of the test and realize that I wouldn't get my scores for 60 days...and I had to go back to work on Monday

No section went particularly horrible. In fact I often ended up guessing on one whole passage of the PS section but on the real MCAT I only guessed on 2 questions (blind guessing). But BS was harder than any practice test I had seen. I was unsure on more questions than usual 🙁 and completely guessed on 2 at the end. My practice score range was 29-35 averaging 32 but my highest score on the Kaplan tests was a 30. I'm scared :scared:

Gulp! :scared:

Do schools take that into account, that we have lost some brain cells since our younger days, or do we have to compete on a level playing field with the young? 😀
No, they expect the same academic proficiency from us as from the trads. If your stats are below their cut-offs, they'll cut you off. Non-trads do often have some advantage with ECs and other "soft" factors just because we've lived longer. But as a group, college-aged trads beat the pants off of us when it comes to grades and MCAT scores. That being said, there are some exceptional non-trads out there who have amazing stats as well as awesome life experiences. When you start interviewing, you'll see what I mean. 🙂

i also misbubbled twice and luckily caught it both times.. went through and made sure it never happened again.. and i have never misbubbled before on any of the practices... :meanie: hope none of you misbubbled and missed it! :luck:

Gotta love the masochism of it all. I have plenty of pain though. I work full time, take care of my 2 year old, am still taking graduate classes, and am in the middle of researching/writing a Masters thesis in addition to the med school app stuff. :scared:
I feel you. I don't have any kids (props to those of you who do!), but I was finishing my lab experiments, writing/preparing to defend my dissertation, doing my secondaries/going on interviews, teaching for Kaplan, and answering people's MCAT questions. It was a very hectic, crazy year. I'm looking forward to not having to fly anywhere for a while. 😛

Totally normal. I've posted a zillion times that I would describe how I felt that night as something to the effect of "like I just got hit with a Mack truck." 😉 You know what it is? It's not just the test itself, which is long and grueling. It's also a very emotional experience to take the MCAT (at least it was for me.) You're very involved with it; it really means a lot to you. And then, after obsessing about it constantly for two or three months, you have to sit and cool your heels for two months longer before you get the score. 😛

The good thing is that the new CBT scores are going to start coming out earlier. 😎 So if any of you are taking the MCAT next year, you'll get your score in 30 days, or maybe even less.

Okay, question for everyone...

How are you going to view your scores?

1. Wait for them to come in the mail.
2. Have a friend/loved one to check and break the news to me
3. Just quickly check them online like ripping off a bandage.
4. Put a piece of paper over the screen and slowly pull it down

I vote for number 3. Feel free to add your own method of checking scores! 😀

No problem, I needed the wakeup so that I can focus on studying for finals next week (summer session a). 🙂

At least we have only the 4 days of crazy stress left. Unless of course the 20th comes and goes with no scores posted! Talk about time for a stroke! We'll probably see a new posting at 12:30 am Wed morning thats says: just a little longer .... scores should be made available by the end of the week.

I vote #3 as well. to bad we can't just click on hyperlinks to view each score individually though. That would be pretty cool.

I'm wavering between 3 and 4...

Well, I'm looking into the worst case scenario and thinking that I'll have to take the MCATs again...I took like 15 practice tests, but I didn't really do much "studying" for it so I'm not expecting much. Do you think I should take the paper exam or try the CBT version in August?

Check online. Of course my dad, who makes fun of me for my compulsive checking, has also started refreshing every time he uses the computer- but I'll be pissed if he sees my scores before me. I do have the alarm system set up, and the sound is of an airplane crashing. Thanks to whoever posted that.

I am now using this thread to vent/worry. I hope you guys don't mind 🙂

I will probably look at my scores quickly on line (#3) with a glass of wine in the hand that is not using the mouse

4ish....I squint so that I can see if a big score box is there, but I can't distinguish any numbers....that way I can give myself a second to breathe before the verdict

You might not want to wear good clothes...when you get a 40 you dont want that red wine to get all over something nice lol

been dare, done dat. All the paranoia must come to a halt! I think you are so darn focused on test day that mis-bubbling should not even be a concern. I had some corny jokes to go along with that, but I don't want to jinx myself in any way. BEST OF :luck:

It would be cool to have an alarm that would say (in a smooth voice like a Star Trek computer): "Your scores are now available. Good luck with your career in telemarketing."

I did number 3. I was on the phone with my mom at the time, and I had checked a few times earlier in the day, but the scores weren't up yet. She told me to check again (I mean, it had been like a whole *hour* since I had checked last!!!), and I did check again, and that time they were suddenly there.... :wow:

i'm waiting til someone says scores are up on here then checking thx #3 style.

speaking of dads.......mine is an ***hole about this mcat business.
He's like "you're not going to get in anywhere without at least a 30-32."
He always defends his arguments with one or two people he has discussed mcat with at the hospital. I tell him, "there is no damn magic formula" and "stop doubting me" and "stop being such a painful realist"!!!!!!!!!!!
Daddys can be EVIL!!!!!! :meanie:

I wish I had the guts to keep my academic goals/mcat/med. school private for the past 4 years. No one would be harassing me about all of this.

The TMDSAS length. Aren't they pretty close to the same anyways?

I wish I had something set up to tell me everytime I check the MCAT THx website, "Your scores have not yet been posted. But remember you're smart and wonderful and you're going to make an incredible doctor." Nothing like a little confidence booster...

I always function with #4. It is painful and awful and awful and awful.
I think the worst would be a phonecall checking your scores.
COMPUTER VOICE: "YOUR COMPOSITE SCORE IS 13" and WRITING SCORE IS K. GOODBYE.

kind of a gruesome comparison don't you think?

besides, there are enough compulsive thx checkers on here to make up for the few of us who are too scared to check til we're sure scores are up!

And coffee has now been shown to reduce your odds of developing cirrosis (sp?), so we can belly up to the bar to drown out our sorrows too.

the only thing is to work as a latte maker you have to have like 15 bizarre piercings and minimum 3 tatoos
