In the continuing spirit of the tradition started last year, we will hold this as your official countdown til score release thread. You can use this as a countdown, but may also post in here general conversation if you are just going insane over this wait. Also, this may not be an exact of when the scores will come out, but we don't know how many days before the official 60 days are over they will come out. Last year, they came out around June 15th at 10pm. But this will give us a rough approximation.

Ok, let the fun begin.........

59 days and counting........

Lets pray for all of you and for my very best roommate, and two of my other bestest friends. 😀 May all come with good news in the following two months.

This is for the neurotic ones who just need somewhere to vent their frustration over the wait. 😛

oh the things we do in hopes of becoming a dr lol
someone on one of the pre-allo threads said that he/she ate only ramen noodles for 3 months straight just to be able to save up money for the AMCAS fee. I think that's a little nutty, especially considering how loaded in sodium those things are...they'll have to pay for medical care to get their blood pressure back in check, so was it really worth it? 😛

I talked to a friend who took the August exam- she said it was up around 1:00AM the day it was scheduled to be released.

I'm planning not to stay up to check (yeah, right) but to go to bed early, wake up around 5:30, check it, then go to yoga for an hour and a half to defuse whatever catastrophe THx reveals. (Which at that point, might be simply that I have a few more hours or that too many anxious pre-meds logged on too frequently and crashed the server!)

And then check it again after yoga, before work.

If it's not been released by the time I get to work, I'm not sure what I'll do. Honestly, I shouldn't check it there- I don't want to burst into tears there! But really, I'll be there all day Tuesday, so I'll likely check once just before lunch, once just before I take a dinner break, and then again when I get home.

Argh. I cannot write my application like this! I know worrying about it doesn't make the exam results come out any sooner. I already have a plan! I have a date picked for the GREs, a Kaplan class that I'll sign up for, and a few schools that I'd consider for graduate studies.

In case the score isn't awful, I also have a list of schools I'll apply to based on my MCAT score- that way, if I'm actually productive these next few days, I'll just be able to submit to AMCAS based on my score.

Have you all submitted AMCAS already? Or are you waiting for your scores as well?

Definitely waiting for scores. Once I see those numbers, I'll make my last decisions and SUBMIT!!

Honesty, I've given up finishing my personal statement until I get my scores. I've got everything else done, just waiting for some transcripts to come in (got 5 different one, sucks). I don't think getting your AMCAS in right now, or two-three weeks from now will make any difference.

Oh THx screen how you never change,
I twist and writhe with each refresh,
With hopes of new energy and exchange,
of news that portends new hope,
of dreams fulfilled, spent not in vain.

Yay! I made you laugh!! 😛

So, to distract myself I've been watching movies which has helped a little bit. So far I've watched Pride and Prejudice, Rumor Has It, and The Producers. The first two were good, and the last one kinda sucked so I turned it off halfway through.

Tonight, I'm going to a town homecoming and plan on getting very drunk with my friends. That way I can sleep all day Sunday and it will make the scores come much sooner!

At this point, me too. EEK. I alternate between thoughts of total despair and desperation and daydreams of joy and elation. Not a good place to be.

For me I have made a chart (not an original idea, someone else on here had it) for my MCAT score reactions:

28 🙄
29 🙂
30 😀
31 😀
32 😀
33+ 😱

You're going to be sarcastic if you get a 28?

It's from a song (a love ballad, lol) in "Team America, World Police."

I need you like Ben Affleck needs acting school,
He was terrible in that film.
I need you like Cuba Gooding needed a bigger part,
He's way better than Ben Affleck,
and now,
all I can think about is your smile,
and that sh*tty movie, too.
Pearl Harbor sucked,
and I miss you.

I've been watching lots of movies the past couple weeks to kill time - Also saw Pride and Prejudice and Rumor Has It. Then there's Match Point and Derailed - both completely creeped me out!!! I loved Dreamer (a horse-racing movie). Firewall was pretty good also. 😀

I know there have been more. It seems like it's all I've done recently. I *love* pay per view.

That is a great movie. It is done by Woody Allen. It is about a guy who lusts after this other woman Nola and has an affair with her. It is a bit more complex than what I have described, but I enjoyed it. I would compare this film to The Talented Mr. Ripley. SEE it!

 We have very different taste in movies. I generally can't stand any movie that has to do with affairs. They just leave me with such horrible feelings and then this one went even further (don't want to ruin it if other people here haven't seen it, but want to).

But yeah .... I thought it was an awful movie! :meanie:

I don't like affair movies either, especially if two of the three parties really love the third 🙁 because then somebody's heart will probably get broken, and that means there's really no true "happily ever after." Pride and Prejudice was nice though. My wife is something of a Kate Winslet fan, and I'm something of a Jane Austen fan, so she enjoyed it for a chick flick 😉 while I tried to see if the movie was better than the book, and ended up with a headache, concluding only that my wife was prettier than Ms. Winslet , and that the Darcy actor had nothing on me. 😛

Kate Winslet isn't in the movie. The main character is played by Kiera Knightly. 😉

Oh my BAD 😀 👎 I confused Sense and Sensibility (1995) for the new Pride and Prejudice. Substitute John Willoughby for Darcy, and Marianne for Bennett. 🙂

Yes, there will be people who score that low, but naturally most of them aren't going to want to post that news all over SDN. 😉 As for why/how that happens, there are lots of reasons: taking the test with missing pre-reqs (this is a biggie! You wouldn't believe how many people come on here wondering if it's ok to take the MCAT without having had physics or organic!), not studying for the test, studying incorrectly or insufficiently for it (especially not taking enough practice tests), too much test anxiety (common problem when people have good practice test scores and then just bomb the real thing), English is not the person's native language (these students tend to struggle more with VR in particular), being out of school for a lot of years (non-trads over age 30 score the lowest of any age group), mis-bubbling, etc. I'm sure you all can come up with some more.

Taking tests well is a skill like everything else. It's certainly true that some people are naturally better at it than others, but anyone can improve their test-taking abilities with enough time and practice. That's why it's so important to take multiple practice tests under test-like conditions.

i can relate to scoring under a 20. i took the august 2005 exam. i prepared well, i took a lot of practice tests, under test-like conditions, took a prep course...i came to the exam, i forgot my license at home (yes stupid of me), so they wouldn't let me take it, so i ran to my car one mile away and brought in my college ID which they luckily accepted. physical usually my strong subject but since i was already so stressed out and sweating and breathing hard, i must have missed soo many early. i got an 8. my weakest, verbal, i got a 6. and then it just went downhill. i usually scored 8-9 on bio but only got a four. it was horrendous. i must have misbubbled somewhere because you can guess all Bs and still get a 4!! anyways, yeah, that's my horror story and i got an 18...pretty sad huh?

i retook this april, prepared like no other. i scored 26-30 consistently on my practice aamc tests. the only problem here is that i NEED to score a 24 on the actual thing because i am in a 7 year linkage program. i just finished my undergrad and now the medschool is waiting for my mcat scores!!

now here is my question...what should i take from the statistics? i was looking at scores for re-testers and it is very unlikely that someone raises there score by 6 total points the second time around 🙁 i have to raise my score from a 18 to a 24..and i donno if its going to work out. physical seemed pretty easy, except there were a few i guessed on. verbal was VERY tough (hoping for a good curve). bio , i definitely did NOT score a 4 haha. maybe a 9? it's going to be close....anyone know people that raised their score by 6 or more points??..ahh it sucks i have a decent gpa (cum: 3.70, sci: 3.40) but a crappy mcat score 🙁

In your case the statistics are thrown out the window. Your first attempt was definitely not your best effort, so hopefully this April shows your true score. From your practice scores, you should be fine :luck:

yeah, it's not too bad. i actually only have to have a 3.0 GPA sci/cum. it's for Western University/COMP in POMONA,CA.

they did change the requriments for the linkage program starting last year though. now it is a 27 (nothing less than a 7 on any subscore) and a 3.3 for the 4-5 linkage students every year.

I would hope so. A 24 and 3.0? Those are ridiculously low stats for automatic acceptance to medical school while the rest of us have to work our asses off and get 30's and 3.5+ stats to stand a good "chance" of getting in.

I actually have seen it...it's been awhile though. It's funny because my friends would always quote the movie and I thought they were hilarious! Then, I rented the movie and was let down. 🙄

I really enjoyed it! I should probably rent Sense and Sensibility, as well. I bought the book (PandP) last month, and my friend kept raving about how good the movie was. So I went ahead and watched it and plan to read the book sometime soon.

That's for Western, a DO school, though. I'm not bashing DO at all, but they do seem to be more forgiving of numbers.

really? you thought rumor has it was good? i'm a movie junkie and see at least one movie a week(no classic good movies so i'm no pro) but i hated rumor has it....i actually can't stand jennifer aniston movies unless she's doing comedy. i agree...the producers was awful especially since i had to watch the scene where he talks dirty to an old woman with a whole group of my dad's middle aged guy friends. eeew.

The new Keira Knightly version is awful. 😡 😡 😡

First, they decimated the script by taking out any subtle, ironic humor... probably on the principle that Americans don't understand wit. People who love the book will understand that the movie lost any hope of being good right there.

Then they hired somebody dreadfully ugly to play Darcy, turned Bingley into a bumbling fool, and threw in some grotesque historical inaccuracies (Bingley walking into the room where Jane is in bed and chatting her up, just to name the worst.)

Check out the A&E version starring Colin Firth as Darcy. It's MUCH MUCH BETTER.
