In the continuing spirit of the tradition started last year, we will hold this as your official countdown til score release thread. You can use this as a countdown, but may also post in here general conversation if you are just going insane over this wait. Also, this may not be an exact of when the scores will come out, but we don't know how many days before the official 60 days are over they will come out. Last year, they came out around June 15th at 10pm. But this will give us a rough approximation.

in august it came out on a thursday...
i say the 15th because if it were to come out on thursday the 8th then we would have an update on the thx website, but no update :-(

I have no idea what kind of score I should expect. One minute I think I must have done well and the next I’m terrified of getting a 25. Although I have school to worry about and haven’t even begun working on my application or PS yet, so that keeps my mind off of the MCAT until I come here.

I swore up and down that the week after the April exam I would start studying again because I wasn't really happy with how I was scoring for April...and now a month later I still havent touched MCAT stuff , even though every night I think of what I'll study the next day and end up not doing nada...well unless you count all the tv, reading, shopping and rollerbladding I've caught up on... 😛
yet I'm afraid that mid June will bring a very rude awakening... 😱

I like the 8th since it's my son's birthday, but I'm no optimist. Add me to lucky 15, the day my son sees his opthomologist to get his optic nerve checked out, and the night before my stats and calc 2 midterm. yes, 15 definately.

The closer we get to the score release, the more doubts I have about how I did. I think I definitely felt better a month ago!

In which case- if you're scoring 165+ on the LSAT, go for it!

Edit: I suppose I should clarify. It seems you're interested in medicine from a legal/ethical angle, considering the MD/JD route. But... while this seems like a good option, it's also an expensive and grueling one. Applying to law school and law school itself is easier than med school and can get you doing what you want sooner, and if you're scoring 165+ you'll walk into the top 20 schools (170+ for Ivies). If you like the science/patient care aspect of med, you gotta stick with med. And if you're scoring crappy LSATs, you'll never get into a good law school and shouldn't waste your time/money.

You essentially read my mind. I just started taking practice LSAT exams and am around the 162 range so I hope with 3 months of studying that I get a 166ish. The decision all depends on the MCAT and potential LSAT score.

If I score a 30+ I think I will definitely attempt the MD/JD route. But If I dont get into an allopathic school...I was considering (once again depending on my potential LSAT)...

Should I go the osteopathic route or go to what is considered a "good" law school if I was to get in? This is all mind boggling lol.

You AMCAS login is the same as your ThX login. The first update usually comes in the form of some little message on the MCAT home page or they post the statistical data from the administration. I believe at the same time we get updates on the ThX. So just check in every once in a while. Good luck.

Jeez! This thread makes me feel so better now that I know I'm not the only one freaking out about the April test. In fact, I whipped my books back out yesterday and I started studying. I figured if mid June comes and I did well, then I would have lost nothing....as opposed to waiting, thinking I will do well but end up with a 24; and then have to start studying in a panic.

I hear you guys/gals. I have friends that want to borrow my MCAT stuff but I am reluctant to give anything away until I know that I do not have to retake the August exam.

As soon I feel the amazing high of hoping for a kick-ass curve, my hopes are crushed by the realization that even though I was doing very well in my best section, I had to rush the last few questions. That really makes me think I will not get the 30 I want and will sit through another 2 months of non-stop studying.

And for the record, I am fighting through the PS as we speak. How do you manage to get so much information in less than 5 pages?!

When law school came up I just had to say 😱 Nooooooo... I tried law. I went to law school and even practiced for a few years. I always had medicine in the back of my mind and last summer I finally left law and went into a postbac premed program. Yay me!
DrVanNostran you seem so nice and personable. I will say what people often told me: you don't seem like a lawyer. I always took that as a compliment 🙂 Ask yourself, do you want to give up directly working with people to find yourself in an office spending most of the time doing research and writing. I finally accepted that I hate writing. It should have been obvious. I was in denial about that for years. If you do not like writing, law is not fun. For me I like that medicine seems very active. I would rather spend a 36 hour shift frantically running around and working with patients, confronting a problem and immediately acting than spending an overnight at a desk in a law office editing and rewriting a document, maybe solving some legal problem but then having to spend hours, again sitting in front of a computer, researching material to support your idea and writing it all in a memo to give to a senior attorney.
OK, that's my contribution to a life decision. I hope it helps.

About that hate writing thing: I still have to finish my personal statement. Reading that scores may be released next week actually has me scared, since that is sort of the due date for the application. I'm not in such a rush... besides I don't mind living with delusions about my score. I have been fortunate not to have any nightmares. Ignorance is bliss.
