Not making a fake announcement. But as per the AAMC login: The message now says the MCAT SCORES WILL BE LOADED TONIGHT. They reupdated it again.

So that being said.......this will be the thread to post your scores as it comes out.......

Here are the things I want you to fill out:

1. Your Form (If you remember):

2. Your Practice Score Range:

3. What you used to Study

4. How do you feel right now????? Ecstatic, Neutral, Disappointed, etc.

Any other comments you'd like to make.

I never really post, but I have to ask this: Are those 9's going to look bad? I mean, I'm happy to get above a 30, but my breakdown doesn't seem that great. Any thoughts?

Congratulations everyone. I think everyone did a good job just to get through that test!!

Hey are you in Florida?????????????? If so, you've got an awesome shot at all the Fl. schools with that score.

Score: 11 P, 13 V, 13 B, WS O for an overall score of 37 O

1. No clue

2. 27-36

3. Kaplan Classroom Course

4. It's hard to say how I'm feeling. On the one hand, with a score of 37, I'm satisfied. My writing sample score, however, sucks balls. I was feeling all happy until I saw that, and then I was like wtf??? I thought my essays were just fine; the graders apparently didn't feel the same way. I'm pretty sure that I won't ever take the MCAT again unless I don't get into medical school within the next three years.

How important is the writing sample, anyway? This part of my score is bumming me out. I honestly didn't think I was that bad at writing - definitely should've tried to prepare for it more. Nevertheless, I am extremely relieved that I won't have to take the MCAT over again in April.

Now I'm going to go outside and enjoy Paris and take advantage of the fact that I can legally drink here. Yay for study abroad!

Bon courage à tous! 🙂

Writing = DOES NOT MATTER MUCH AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!! And O = decent score. Anything M and above, and you'll be ok. Even if you did get an L, against a 37, it won't hurt you one bit.

You'll be fine!!!!!!!!!! Now go celebrate and then get back to the applications.

PS = 9

yeah!!!!!!!!! at least i'm impressed with me...and I have this nagging desire to go to baskin robbins (31 flavors!)

35O!!!

I do have to admit that this site annoys me, kind of a buzz kill. I was living up the greatest natural high ever until I came on SDN and somehow got the feeling that my 35 is substandard. Oh well, still happy as heck.

Haha, agreed.

I was jumping around with joy when I checked and saw my 33P. Then I came on here and definetly felt a little buzz-kill from seeing all the 37s and 39s. But hey, 33 is still 90th percentile, and your 35 is probably like 95th percentile, so whatev, we killed it and that's all that matters. Definetly celebrating this weekend!

And to everybody that did "bad", I went from a 25 to a 33 in 12 months so it's not the end of the world. Work your ass off studying, retake, and it'll feel so much sweeter.

See you all in the Pre-Allo forum,

SF

I don't post much here, but I've been reading for awhile and thought I'd add my scores:

32M (10 PS / 11 BS / 11 VR)

1. DM

2. Practice Score range: 24-33

3. Kaplan classes, materials, practice exams

4. Neutral, although I was positively shocked to see the M on my WS. I've always felt like a good writer, so that was a bit of a blow. I'm a bit underwhelmed, but I suppose that's better than being disappointed, right? I started this whole process three years after graduating with a music degree, and it's been a long road just to get to this point. I try to remember that when I started out, what I said to myself was "I just want to be a doctor" -- not "I want to get into Harvard" or "I only want to go to an allopathic school", just "I want to be a doctor". I can probably do that with my score, so I'm trying to convince myself to be glad...but the whole thing just seemed anticlimactic. Also, I'm used to taking aptitude-based tests (SAT, ACT, GRE, etc) and totally rocking them...so it's weird to move to the medical field and feel pretty average.

I'm applying for Fall 2007, and while I wanted to leave myself the option of retaking in April, I think I'll stick with what I have. No need to go through that hell again. 🙂

29M. (9 PS, 12 VR, 8 BS).

Looks like I"m taking the %&$*#* thing over again. Sweet, life is so good. Nothing like six months of your life leading up to utter dissapointment.

Yup, and now you've got yet another advantage. You won't have to wait for June scores at all, cuz all you'll need to do is submit your application June 1st, if you start everything on time. I'd take a few months to think about your personal statement so you can make many revisions. Now that you don't have other distractions of MCAT, I'd think about those things. But it really helps to be done with it a year early. 😀 😀 😀

27N (10P, 8V, 9B)

1. AP
2. didn't take any full length practice test.
3. Examkracker books and Audio Osmosis.

Overall, a little letdown but happy that I improved in the Verbal and Writing Sections (proves that I'm not an illiterate *****...lol). Expected higher since I felt I was more prepared this time... scored a 28L (11P, 7V, 10B) in Aug'05 with very little studying.

how does this happen??? i studied so much and seriously, i am not stupid. where did i go wrong...

been getting above 30s on my practice tests and straight As throughout the last year...help....

I got this exact same score and distribution the first time I took this crappy test in August of last year. Then in April, I got 8's across the board, and an R again. I was so hoping to improve this time around, but I got a 22R, and I won't even bother to list the distribution. I hope you increase if you take it again. I'm not stupid either, but sometimes you get a bad form and you just freak out and don't do well. I'm sure you will improve! good luck!

I couldn't muster up the balls to look last night. when I went to the thx site just now my I thought I was going to poop myself... very relieved but weirded out about my distribution -- usually bio is my best by far. oh well, not complaining

thanks will congrats to you as well! I'd trade my score for yours b/c of the balance but i'm happy for you and everyone else on here.

guju you were right as i basically hit my aamc avg exactly. thanks for all the help. im abroad right now so i dont really come on here much but i thought it was only fair i post what i got. guess its time to move on over to the other forum after a break. later guys.

9 VR
11 PS
12 BS

not taking this crap again i dont think, overall happy, a bit upset about the 9. is it a big deal

I'm new to the forum, but first and foremost, congrats to everyone... there are some great scores posted! You should feel good: Anxiety is over! 😀

31P
V: 11
BS: 11
PS: 9
WR: P

Form: B-something
Prax scores: 22-31 (V 6-11, Bio 8-12, PS 8-11)
Prep: Princeton Review "cram course", some exam krackers, and some old college texts
Feelings: eh. was fearing much worse. I considered voiding because I straight-up guessed on the last 10 PS questions (ran out of time)... Disappointed in that respect.

Here's the question:
With overall GPA of 3.05, but science GPA of 3.4, and this MCAT score, should I retake in April? don't think will boost much, but a 34 would be much better than a 31. really feeling on the fringe here... 😎

I think you are better off doing a SPECIAL MASTERS PROGRAM or POSTBAC then doing the MCAT again. Your MCAT is fine. But your gpa might need some improvement if things don't work out in this cycle. GOOD LUCK.

Good advice - really appreciate you helping us all like this. Am currently enrolled in part-time biotech masters, going well so far... applying to med schools next year. Hoping other factors will play a role in the app process as well.

I can't believe you're done with this, and you've stuck around to help out... I never want to think about MCAT again!!

So you are not applying this year at all then??????

Good luck. Yeah, if you got a 29, its possible to go up and break 30. A friend of mine did the same thing this past summer after getting 29 in April because she wanted to break 30 for 7 year. A different friend then the one who's my roommate.

Right. I wasn't planning on applying until next year anyway. So there's no reason for me to not take the April exam (other than having to go through the test again).

For the August exam, I didn't take a prep course or even take any practice exams. I looked through a review book but that's it. This next time I'm gonna do far more preparing and hopefully break 30. I probably won't take a classroom review course because my schedule is far too busy. Do you have any other review suggestions?

Oh, the breakdown was 14P, 11V, 14B. Thanks for the nice comments guys! It just hurts that my parents didn't even say "good job" or "congrats." Probably because all their friends' kids got 40, 41, 43, etc. But I guess I should be happy because I'm probably going to med school!

That is sad, but maybe you can look at it as good preparation for med school, where your best will almost never be good enough. Congratulations on an outstanding score.

EXAM KRACKERS is awesome for people not wanting to do a classroom course. So is the AAMC tests which while easier, often predict scores somewhat correctly.

I'd also recommend the Verbal 101 book and 1001 bio questions books by Exam Krackers; not just their review materials.

PM me if you can.

I felt obligated to get involved in this thread for no reason- perhaps because I almost took your screenname when I signed up for SDN, and then couldnt quite figure out how to spell it (hilarious by the way)...

Dont take that thing again. That is a completely passable (if not very very good) score! I'm finding, much to my delight, that a LOT of the EC's and stuff outside grades and MCATs come into play in admissions. You will do absolutely fine.

I'm hearing a lot of people say EXAMKRACKERS is (are?) a great way to prepare. i wish i had known that before this exam. i think i will invest in some more books and definitely do the AAMC practice tests. i was going by everyone who said "oh if you take kaplan, you'll score higher than your best practice test." then i went ahead and got 7 points BELOW my best practice test (even 4 points below my worst!). 🙁

oh well, i guess i know where i need to get started. it's going to take a few weeks to get into it, but i think i can do it again. i really want to be a doctor and i'm not giving up on my dream just b/c of some stupid exam.

I was forewarned to do well on MCAT take MANY full length practice exams that you can. That is the best way to tackle the beast.

Congrats to all those who did well and :luck: to those who didn't quite meet their expectations. The road to med school is a long and difficult one. I look forward to the journey and challenge as should you! 😀

I'm very satisfied/ecstatic/stoked of my score...

AUG 2005
B = 10

I took the MCAT 3X and overall I went up each test A WHOPPING 8 points overall!!!!!!!!!!

SO to all the underdogs there it can be done especially with verbal... I started off with a 4 August 2003..... to a WHOPPING 9 (this is not stellar by SDN average but still) for August 2005... so again thank you SDN for all the study tips, encouragements, and advice....

I hope that this score will grant me a second interview somewhere....

For some reason, your post made me chuckle :laugh: :laugh:

Pavtca,

I'm sorry your parents are being such jerks about it. I'm from an Indian family, so I've gotten to see first hand how parents always can be soooo competitive and needing for attention by trying to be better then so and so. It sucks. But know that you did awesome and well deservedly and will get into a good school. Maybe when you get a good acceptance they'll see that the one point difference doesn't make that big of a deal.

Uh oh, the august mcaters are ready to get into the game. Now we lost our "apply early" strategy.

MONSTER EXAM ...A MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENT FOR EVERYONE WHO WROTE IT!!!!!!!

I used examkrackers, and thought they were great. I am a non-trad, took the MCAT in 2001 and got a 31 (used Kaplan books). Didn't apply until last year and only a few schools would take my score because it was 3 years old. Started studying in the begining of July. The Examkracker books really break down the subjects into easily digestable sections, and don't get bogged down in too much detail. They are pretty quick reads, so you can go over them many times. I had forgotten alot of the background material that the reviews didn't cover. I found that the 1001 questions series helped refresh my memory of the basics, and also drilled in the major concepts. I took every full length AAMC MCAT available and timed them exactly as if I was taking the real thing, 1 hr for lunch, wrote the essays and everything. I also didn't aim for the magical 30 like I did the last time. I aimed for a 34. When I got a 10 on the practice test I wasn't content, I went back and studied more. My composite was a 36: 11v, 12PS, 13BS.

I had form BJ
I got a 34P
VR = 11
PS = 10
BS = 13
WS = P

I used both ExamKrackers and Kaplan. This was my second time taking it. The first time i only used ExamKrackers. For the August MCAT, I spent more time using the Kaplan test prep books in conjunction with the ExamKrackers. I'm ecstatic!!!!

4. How do you feel right now????? Ecstatic, Neutral, Disappointed, etc.

1. Form CK
2. Practice Score Range: 31-36
3. EK, some 1001
4. Ecstatic, although I didn't really plan on going to med school; this may make me reconsider.

Practice Score Range: 35-40

Study Materials: Kaplan Comprehensive Review + EK VR 101 Passages

Score: 33Q (13PS-7VR-13BS-Q)

Time spent studying: A week into July - About a month and a week...roughly 5-8 hours/day.

Really upset. Will end up re-writing in April '06, and aiming for no less than straight 13s. Unfortunately, I don't have a shot at most of the Ontario schools I applied (maybe McMaster). Fortunately, I wrote it the summer after 2nd year. I'm not sure what went wrong with VR, as I found it much easier than AAMC's practice test and EK's. I was hitting 9s and 10s on those, in VR.

So I am in a pre-marticulation program where I have guarnteed acceptance in med school with a 24. I took this test and I got a 26 my score isn't that bad, but only a little over my requirement. Should I re-take or should I take the score as a blessing and forget about it? I don't know what to do!!??!!

had form FL
I got a 35O
VR = 11
PS = 12
BS = 12

study time: 2 hour a day from August. I used Kaplan. Because I am not a native English speaker, i spent a lot of time on reading newspapers before august.

Feeling, a little confused. I took MCAT just for my family. In fact I already have a MD from some foreign country. I would like to take medical board directly. Yet my family don't have much confidence in me and want me to go to medical school again. This is really time and money consuming. If I have bad score on Mcat, then it will be easier for me to make decision. Now I am really not knowing what I should do. I would like a easy life, going through medical school again is not that easy, I mean, money and pressure about money.

I think some people on here have a skewed idea about what qualifies a good score on the MCAT. For example, a 33 is a GREAT score. The average at Harvard is between 11-12 for each section, or between 33-36. You don't need to score a 38+ to be competitive for top schools. And you don't have to make over a 30, either, to get into med school. My best friend scored a 28, and she was so disappointed; however, she applied anyway. She's an MS IV now -- and she's going to be a great MD. In the long run, that's all that matters.

OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG one of my other friends, who is the 7 year program just found out she made the cutoff and actually got a point higher then the required, so she's officially accepted to medical school now!!!!!!! Woooooooo hooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

Here's the question you have to ask yourself:

Do you really really really see yourself happy at said medical school???????? Or do you really really really want to go through the application process again and get in somewhere else where you'll be happier?????????

Depending on the answer to that question, you'll be able to answer your dilemma.

PS 12 VR 12 BS 12 WS P -- 36P

1) form BT
2) Practice score range: all over the place...30-37. I got one fluke 37, but the rest were 30-33
3) Kaplan online course, but Examcrackers for the VR section
4) WTF! I am SO happy with my scores, especially cause I had so many problems with VR, and was scoring 8-9 on practice tests even in late July. I like how my score is so standard among the subjects. This is totally not what I predicted, cause I thought I'd do better in PS and worse in VR. My goal was 35+, and I reached it!

Lastly, thanks to everyone else who posted on this site over the summer -- great community!

But lastly, I know this is stupid to even worry about cause no one cares about the writing score...but is P henious? I read one post over the summer where someone was freaking out about getting an O, and said that Q is the average

A. CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I knew you'd do well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

Hard work pays off.

B. Writing does not matter. But if you want to know the way the AAMC looks at it.........

J-M = Below average

N-Q= Average

R-T = Above average

So an N-Q and actually even an M for that matter won't really hurt. But I don't think writing matters even if you do below average, cuz most schools, at least here in USA, don't care about it. Canada might be slightly different.

33Q: 12VR, 9 PS, 12 BS

Form AG, took Kaplan, started @ 28 on diag.

I'm underwhelmed, I know I could have done better. I was really hoping for 35+.
haha, I was like "hmmmm, themustafa sounds really familiar, but I thought he had an av....."

then it dawned on me. :meanie:

You sound like me...I got 33R and I'm applying to all the private NYC schools...Stop it! We're competing, and I don't like competition - I come from a liberal arts school where competition is BAD.

Just kidding...good luck to you and everyone else when acceptance time comes around.

Ah, my first "obstacle" to eliminate. Let's see, shall I steal your identity and void your scores, impersonate a cabbie and drive you to Long Island from the airport on interview days, put a whoopee cushion on your seat across from the interviewer . . .

. . . or just wish you good luck! I think/hope we'll both find a home in NYC. 🙂
