You should wait until classes start to get your technical stuff, scope and such. They have reps come from all the major companies and there are usually great deals. Also, T shirts and stuff usually go on sale also.

I just got my financial aid award letter today and I don't understand it one bit.

According to my FAFSA, my EFC was about $6000. However, my award letter says it is $0.

I did NOT apply for any CWRU aid, and so I didn' get any CWRU grants, scholarships or loans. That I expected.

However, under subsidized stafford they gave me $0. Under subsidized stafford they gave me $0. And under Alternative loans, they gave me $0.

I got ZERO DOLLARS!!!! What's going on here? I expected to get $8500 in subsidized stafford and $30,000 in unsub stafford. Yet, my award letter says $0.

Does anybody else have this same situation. I think that mine just must have fallen through the cracks. I may not be at Case next year after all if this really IS my award letter.

did you make sure everything was in and accounted for? maybe something got lost, or there was a glitch in the FAFSA form. i'm sure you'll be able to straighten this out--from what i understand, once a school accepts you, they work with you to make sure that you'll able to attend.

There was a note at the top of the forums that said they were going to temporarily disable it on the 1st. They are going to try to modify it (I think I remember something about automatically attaching names). When they bring it back, it might be reset to 10 ( so that those who gave neg karma and listed other peoples names as the giver don't have, ahm, issues.)

Also, they are going to implement a new level. Something below a moderator title for those who want to help others... or something.

I am definitely NOT doing research or anything academic for that matter down here in NZ, just some work as a physiotherapist as well as a personal trainer...it's been a blast. I can't say that I have taking a liking to vegemite, or maramite for that matter...just not appealing, however, the seafood down here is awesome. Cleveland winter is going to be brutal...I've spent the last three seasons in summer, so trying to readjust to the snow and ice will be painful....might take some intensive therapy to cope with that. All right, well I'm off to enjoy my last couple days in Auckland. Catch ya mates later 🙂

ok, got my financial aid sorted. Apparently when they worked up my package the computer failed to save the information they entered into the fields on my reward letter.

Turns out I'm getting about $45,000 in loans (I didn't apply for any free money because my parents make too much money).

I had an EFC of $6500. I got the max subsidized ($8500), the max unsub ($30000) and another $8500 in "alternative loans", which I will not be taking.

This is exactly what I expected to get. So I am happy. Hope everybody gets enough to attend.

That is extremely high. The federal loans are around 3% right now, and they can never exceed 8.25% by law. So, 8% is really high. Unless there is something I don't know or understand about this, I would think that you should take out the max federal sub and unsub before you take out a Case loan. Not sure why their loans would be so expensive. I don't even think the "alternative" loans being offered are quite that high. But I'm not sure.

Mine was screwed up, so I called them this morning to get the right numbers.

Just recieved my financial aid package. My EFC was 0 is this is what CWRU gave me

9800 dollar grant, 9000 CWRU Loan, 8500 subsidized loan, and the rest is unsubsidized.

Not too bad! My chances of attending CWRU just went up.

Today was the day to call UVM to see about WL status. I'm on the bottom 1/2. That's a rejection as far as I'm concerned. I think that makes it 4 post-inteview rejections(PIR) this year so far with 15 PIRs over all. Before today, I was thinking my app had changed alot from before and that I would have a great shot anywhere. However, I'm realizing that my interviews at irvine and davis were very similar to before. I've been on the irvine wl before and don't really think I'm in the upper half anymore. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I can sit on my ass here until August wishing to get off the waitlist or I could spend my time trying to prepare for the place that does actually want me. With that said, I feel I just got lucky. My interviewer was a PhD and was quite technically inclined. Anyway, I thought I should modify my place on the list.
