Hey Psycho............How's medical school going???????????????? Hope its going well.

To the rest of you on here, think about your school work or activities when you start to think about MCAT, but I'll keep you posted with updates.

I'm gonna do a master's and then apply. But I didn't take it this August. i'm going to retake it one final time in April to bring up my verbal score, and apply at the same time for a Special Master's program at my uni.

I had a very very very good friend that took it, who I was helping over the summer a lot. So that's why I'm counting down, cuz she's like a sister to me. And I'm worried cuz she needs a 30 to stay in the 7 year med program.

I am planing to do my masters and I may retake it in April, but I did took it in August, so it will depend on my scores though...
If they come out good, then No need to worry...

ahhh, i see. that's kinda random. i guess every school is different.
my friend was in an early decision program where she needed to get a 28 on her mcat...she ended up getting a 34 and decided that she could really go wherever she wanted with that score, so she withdrew from the program. so now she's going through the whole application process with everyone else.

I know a few people who have done the same thing. I actually think it is a good thing if you open up your options rather then limiting yourself to one school just to take the easy way out, if you really think you have a shot at somewhere else and are not sure that you really want to go to the school you are already accepted at.

Yeah, I'm not sure about this either. I'm hoping that my new scores will still go to the schools. I have old scores from last year that are currently with my application, but I want the schools to see my new August 2005 MCAT scores also. If anyone knows, please speak up. Thanks.

My GUESS is that

The schools should take the scores even if the deadline (oct15th) is gone, and the scores come out as late as, say on OCT 20th maybe.

OCT 15th is the deadline for AMCAS, and it does not state anywhere that it is a deadline for the AUGUST MCAT scores for many schools.

IF IF IF If a School has a policy for not taking August scores, then it might be okay to refuse. Or else, they should take the score even if they arrive on OCT 20th. IN MY OPINION ONLY.

I think I am concerned about couples of school that has OCT 15th as the deadline.....and I AM going to call the schools if they do take it or not or if there is a concern.

How about calling the schools with OCT 15th deadlines that A person is applying to? Does this sound like a good idea??

I'm predicting close to October 18th or so. However, it might be a few days earlier or a day later. But 18th would be 60 days exact after the test was administered.

But by the virtue of counting down, in 2 hours........you will have 37 days left.

why are you scared? its not going to be any different or change anything if you see them online, plus you'll know sooner.

hey first timer! no worries. here's the website:

https://services.aamc.org/mcatthx/

you should click where it says "Need an AAMC Login user name? Register here." and then if you don't remember the username and password that you created when you registered for the test, you can ask them to e-mail it to you (that's what i did). they'll send it to whatever e-mail address you used to register for the exam.

let me know if you have any problems after that.

Not to sound mean.......but there is NOT a countdown for when it comes in the mail. The point of the countdown is for those who want to know ASAP, to know how much longer they have to wait. I'm not trying to be mean here, but just look at it online. If you have a test or something, then wait til the test is over. But to say that you are going to wait til you get a paper score, just because you are scared, is not going to help because your score is not going to change in a few days.

Its better, in my opinion, to know sooner rather then later, unless there is some major test or something that you don't want to ruin your mood for.

I wondered what happened when I got on last night and her account was yellow. guju is one of the nicest and most helpful people on sdn, so I was very surprised to see this.

If you have a test or something, then wait til the test is over. But to say that you are going to wait til you get a paper score, just because you are scared, is not going to help because your score is not going to change in a few days.

hmm...for some, i imagine that it could be a less harrowing experience to see scores in print, rather than having your computer project them at you on an eerie glowing screen. not to get too philosophical....okay, i'm getting philosophical...but, for example, doesn't reading a book on paper simply feel different than reading text on a computer screen? for some, perhaps there is no difference, but for others, maybe the printed word is less harrowing than the cyberspace word.

and when one is less anxious, one makes better decisions.

See my thread in Preallo. Someone hijacked into my account and then proceeded to accuse me of being gay indirectly by posting a coming out of the closet thread. Then they posted another thread about porno

Then to top things off, they deleted a few PMs that were sent to my account which were directed to them and they changed my signature to say @$$wipe then to say dumb@ss and then to say @$$wipe again.

That's the short version.

Oh yeah.......the last post in this thread by me, before this one, was the last post I POSTED, before my account was hijacked while I was studying for Calc 2 test coming up on Friday.

Yesh!! It feels different when I read something that is written in the ink compare to something that is floating in the cyberspace.

But sometimes it does not make any difference to me when I try to look at three simple digits and one letter. They just look the same to me… !!!

I think it's a bit too early for interesting posts on this thread. I mean, we're not quite halfway through the waiting period. People are trying not to think about the scores being released, becuase it will be forever until that happens. 😀

Things will most certainly pick up as we get closer to the date.
