However, I don't think you should be risking life and limb (trite, I know) to see it! As a friend, I feel duty bound to save you from yourself! You don't want to come back w/ 7 fingers do you? Not so hot for a future dentist.

I found only 4 desis going to Tufts with me in the class of about 160 students, which means more desis to be Yankees than Red Sox. 😱

Well, I was initially set on NYU, now I'm leaning towards USC (stay calm Indy). You're already on the east coast though right?

Thanks for the input rajmahal 🙂 I'm concerned about NYU, in that there are so many rumors (sadly negative) about the school running about that it gives me pause. I've visited NY quite a few times, I know it's a great city, but it's also a super pricey one. So, I have to keep that in mind. But you're right, living in NYC is a once in a life time opportunity.

Mysteree, isn't USC even more expensive than NYU? I think living cost at NYU would certainly balance the cost at USC.

BTW, NYC does have great desi food.
Also, for all you NYU "goers".... don't forget to try Arabian rice with chicken or vegetable platters. They are ...... AWESOME......

No, USC's no more expensive than NYU, and small diff at NYU from what i gather you have to borrow the instruments, instead of buying them piece by piece over the years. Besides which, area around USC is not as pricey to live in as NYC would be. I also live in Cali, which translates into a lot of cross country travelling which would add up..which is why i'm leaning toward USC. I also intend to practice in CA.

Sure it is an incredible school, however, its quite expensive. I'm already afraid about loans and living cost in Boston. Moreover, interest rates are climbing at a crazy rate. I hope I had some $$ from my family to support my rear end.

ps that bus is the chinatown bus, and goes from nyc chinatown to boston chinatown which is basically right next to the tufts health sci building and the hospital. i think they do buses from nyc port authority to boston too,but probably a bit more expensive.

Yup it is a great deal, and Amsie is right, I didn't want to say that it left Boston's chinatown, because I wasn't a 100% sure. Yup Boston's pricey, but not as bad as NY or where I'll be, Yikes! Just think of the $$$ you'll be making once you're done..and hopefully that should keep you going when you think of all the loans on your back.
