Has anyone ever been offered a second interview? (Tufts)

What should I expect? Thanks! 🙂

I remember them mentioning this when I interviewed there.
Although, I thought it was something along the lines of they would
offer an applicant a second interview if the applicant felt as
though they didn't put their best foot forward on the first interview day.

Anyone remember this??

Has anyone who interviewed at Midwestern AZ in early February heard back with a decision?

well rejected from UW. would've saved a lot of money but man it would be miserable in that dungeon for four years.

NYU Waitlist today and will be turning it down soon.

I interviewed their on the 8th and haven't heard anything back yet. I did get accepted on the 9th at Western University and interviewed there on the 4th.

UCLA acceptance today

When did you interview at UCLA? I interviewed January 27th. I called last week and talked with Noemi. She said that some applicants have until the 24th to decide whether they are attending or not. She also said they never accept more than their class size. Also, she said they notify on Tuesday. I was waiting to hear back from them this coming Tuesday but it looks like you have been accepted. Congratulations! Again, when did you interview?

Yeah. rolling admissions seems sort of not the best way to go. I would think waiting until you saw everyones application would then give the school a better chance at having the best they can get. Who knows. Im sure everyone they did accept was great and very qualified. It just seems strange to have a deadline if you handed out all of the interviews before that deadline anyway. It's sort of frustrating. Hopefully I get in to Temple this cycle. If not then I'll certainly be working hard to get everything in early next year for all the schools.

When I had called Pittin the middle of December they knew no other interviews were going out. She told me to apply next year. I wonder why they waited until February to actually notify us officially. Guess they are just overloaded with applicants.

Anyway, good luck to everyone!

I know this isn't the thread for it, but I agree that rolling admissions is not the best way to go. Education is not the same as a retail store, so the first-come first-serve logic is only ideal for candidates who are less than desirable, just as those "sales" are geared towards those with "smaller wallets." I applied at the end of August with decent DAT scores (22AA, 21TS, 21PA), so I would hope that I get preference over a less competitive candidate, even if they did apply earlier, and thankfully, I did.

If you have the stats for it, I'd say to shoot for Harvard and Columbia next cycle, as I know that they manage their admissions in such a way that the class remains open until the last interview. Harvard has yet to give me a decision on my application, so I feel your pain with the "Why did you guys wait this late to say "no" to me?" issue.

Lastly, I know of two applicants who applied near the end of October and middle of November, and they each received interview invites at very well-respected schools (Penn, Columbia, Stony Brook and Tufts, as well as a state school that one of them was not a resident of), so as long as you choose your schools wisely, you should be fine.

And, for the sake of this thread...

Waitlisted at Columbia on 02/15 (though I was never sent the paperwork)

Actually the point of rolling admission is that it is first come first serve. You only got preference because your stats are super high. Average applicants who apply in August are generally less likely to get interviewed at state schools.

Well everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Its actually a fact

Most college guidance counselors advise that students submit their application soon after the school begins to accept them as many believe that colleges look more favorably on students who apply earlier in the year. Other times, universities may underestimate the number of students who will take the offer of admission, resulting in the number of spots filling rapidly; this can lead to more-qualified applicants' being denied. This can create pressure on students who wait a little longer. Also, schools often use a first-come-first-served method to grant housing and aid to students.[2] Applicants who believe rolling admission to mean no deadlines may miss the chance at housing or aid that they would have had if there was one set deadline.[2]

Whether my stats are deemed "super high" is an opinionated assessment. Regardless, this thread is for those who've applied to dental school this cycle, not for those who want to debate an irrelevant topic with a refutable source. Please find a thread suitable for this topic, if you're compelled to continue.

lol...

and your DAT being greater than 19 across the board is "super high" is true, not opinion

if u end up in boston, im gonna be beyond jealous haha

I turned down a wait list offer from VCU this morning - hopefully it will go to someone who really wants it!

OHSU acceptance today, will be reluctantly turning down Creighton when their next deposit is due.

Thanks! Columbia was quite the school. I'll wait on them for a bit, although I understand my chances there are certainly limited. I'm also from outside Boston, and yes, I'll be quite lucky to return if I enroll at Tufts.

Congratulations!

Thank you! I'll very likely be seeing you there!

well columbia hasn't accepted anyone since january 20th so it's likely that u still have a chance larger than u think! they've only offered waitlist and given rejections since that date. some of even the most qualified applicants have heard zilch so who knows haha. did they say something that day that indicated you had a low chance?

I don't think my chances are that large, unless they really took to me. There are probably 30-40 people in the same boat as me, for which there are 15 spots, and many more people on the waitlist. I'm not overly worried, and I'm sure everyone else feels similarly, but I'd love to get a call tomorrow! That would be quite the stroke of luck! :luck:

Thanks man, it's always nice to see the fans (and me) get what they want 🙂

So nobody has heard from UCLA today yet? Post if you have 🙂 I am anxiously waiting. I think its gonna be today or never.

When was your interview? Mine was in February. I talked to Noemi 2 weeks ago and it seemed like something should happen today.

When I called Nova to schedule an interview, they only gave me the choices of 10/5, 10/6, and 10/7. So I'm going 10/7. Is anyone else on here interviewing then too? I'm so excited!!

Do you guys think schools are going to be giving out anymore interview invitations, or is that part of the cycle pretty much complete?
