@rocky90 - I called after I read on SDN people got a packet after submitting their supplemental and I didn't (despite mailing it in July). Called to make sure that they had everything they needed and heard pretty amazing news after the lady on the phone sounded surprise I didn't receive anything to date. She then sent me a scanned copy of the snail mail letter (the good news sunk in after like the 30th read) via email.

you're supposed to get a packet? i just got a letter saying that everything was submitted and will be reviewed. can anyone else chime in?

Student handbook accompanied by a letter acknowledging receipt of credentials & supplemental...in a nutshell

What Tunaman said. I didn't get anything from Penn saying that they had my application, supplemental, etc. I sort of assumed that it was like other schools where you hear either good or bad news (not indifferent news like "we got your stuff"). SDN sort of saved my butt.

I did not get this. I only got a letter saying I had missing stuff, then a couple weeks later a letter saying everything was in, then finally a packet of info with the interview invite.

I think I may be guilty of using imprecise language, and, as a result, may have caused some uncertainty. Let me try to clarify.

A cursory read of SDN suggested that after one submits everything to Penn, they will send you a packet. By packet, I meant to say that you get a nice letter from the office that says everything is complete at this time and if you get invited for an interview that they will write you. Included in the letter was a brochure of the school. Since it came with a brochure, I elected to call it a packet versus a "complete-ness letter" because the envelope is larger than your typical first class mailing.

I am not sure whether everyone receives this, but based on this forum, it is my impression that Penn extends this courtesy to everyone. IF they choose to invite you, then you get another packet/letter (this one includes a number of things: visitors guide, sample schedule, graduate student life brochure). Hopefully this clears up some confusion rather than adding oil to the speculation flame.

Apologies are an order from this end of cyber-world for any confusion (regarding the word "packet") I may have caused, and best of luck for everyone still waiting to hear back from schools.
 
yah was just confused since i received the letter stating everything was received and will be reviewed, but i didn't get the brochure. since i got the letter i'm pretty sure they didn't forget or anything.
