GPA (science, overall): 3.88, 3.83
DAT (AA/TS/PAT/Reading/any section below a 17): 23/24/22/20/no

Congrats! I am surprised that's your first interview with those stats. Early August isn't even that late. Hope you get more!

Nice! One of my best friends just started her first year at western 🙂 it's a great school! Good luck! Where did you get your masters if you don't mind me asking? If I don't get in this year, that is my back up plan so I can reapply again for next cycle

No I don't mind at all. I got my masters at Regis University in Denver. It was spectacular, I learned so much and feel so prepared. Not only did I learn a lot academically I was able to strengthen my application in other weak areas. I found out about Regis from Creighton who recommended I do a masters. I hope u get in but if not things will work out, its hard to say but I am thankful I didn't get in the first time. Now I am seriously ready to kick some ass in school... I just need an acceptance haha 😉

That's exactly what I was thinking! I'm going to do a masters at Mississippi college if I don't get in this cycle. If I do get in, great! If not, I can do a masters (hopefully kill it) and have a better chance at getting multiple interviews 🙂 I'll be better prepared too! Thanks for the helpful info and positive vibes!

When did you receive the "application complete"email?

why did I not even get a freaking rejection letter?
I'd rather have at least some rejection letter instead of being kept in the dark for so long.

Be careful what you wish for. It took nearly 4 months before I heard from UW and 5 months from Michigan. I was pleasantly surprised today to get an invite from Michigan. Just keep busy and believe that good things are in store. You may receive some good news tomorrow!

What undergraduate school did you go to? and when did you submit your application?

I submitted my application beginning of June. But then I took the DAT the end of June. I got an application complete on AADSAS from UofM on 8/05.
I currently go to Grand Valley State University.

Does anyone know if schools think badly of you for taking a lighter last semester? (14 or so vs my normal 18 credit hours per semester)
Obviously you can't drop off and do nothing, but I'm planning on taking just Immunology, Vertebrate Anatomy, Accounting, and some filler PE classes like yoga and bowling.

I could push myself more obviously but I don't want to get a strong case of senioritis and end up tanking my GPA overall for graduation.

I think it depends on each individual school. I've heard that some schools don't really care. Once you are accepted you are golden, just don't tank your last semester and you'll be fine. Though I'm sure some schools look at it differently. You might ask each school that you've interviewed at, or at the schools you really want to go to, to see what their policy is. I hope that helps.

Yes, the university of Michigan isn't biased towards anyone except those who apply early. They like people who apply early and I would guess they also like those who have done research.

I took my DAT 7/1 and AADSAS received it on 7/17, I also did 25o hours in a research lab and now i'm currently in a second lab. My question to you is how do I know what batch i'm in?

I'm not exactly sure how to figure out batch number. I believe it's one big batch for the first two or three weeks that the application is out and then increments of batches ever week after. But you can ask someone else to figure that out with an accurate answer

LOL Thanks. I was originally a Healthcare Management Major. I did a post-bac in Biochemistry but made friends with the Physics Advisor. He gave me a sweet deal on a Physics double-major. I don't understand why schools let you get a degree in both Biochemistry and Chemistry when it's practically the same degree, but it was literally one extra class. I swear it's not that impressive.

#9!!!!! 😍:clap::banana:
It has been very quiet for me this last few weeks and I gave up on getting any more

No!! I don't mind at all!

I have almost 4 years of research experience (actually my job lol) with a number of publications (first author, co-authors..)
For shadowing, I have ~250 hrs (general) + ~100 hrs (perio).
I have done lots of volunteering -- medical, dental, teaching, counseling, working with HIV/AIDS and other stigmatized patients with rare diseases.
In my app, I have included some experiences that are not dental-related, like foreign languages (I can speak 5 languages)
and traditional musical instruments that most Americans might be unfamiliar with.

Because it has been few years since I graduated, I'd say I have few experiences that are rather rarely seen in most applicants.
At my last interviews, my interviewers were very interested in what I have done and wanted to know more about them.
I hope this helped!

Did your status for penn changed from app complete to under review before receiving the interview invite?
lol Nope, it's been at the application complete since I received my application complete email 😛

Interview invites #5 and 6. I feel very fortunate, and hope everyone hears some great news in less than a month!

Is there anything you guys have been doing to improve your application after sending it in? I'm wondering if taking a quick science course (I'm graduated and working full time) would be beneficial as my GPA is a bit rough.

I'm trying to get some more shadowing hours but have yet to hear back from any offices. I graduated and work full time too so I'm restricted to offices open Saturdays. I can only find 2 in my city so hopefully I hear something back from one of them haha

Consider extra volunteer work nights and weekends. A class may help so long as it is at a four year school and especially if it fills a recommended course for D school. I have the same issues with shadowing. I am in a full time job where I will be traveling, so it's hard.

I applied to 10 schools, and I was a bit late applying. My DAT is good- 21 AA, 20 science, 23 PAT and one low one (17 bio)
I havent heard back from anywhere, although many of my similarly qualified friends (as well as some people I know are MUCH LESS qualified than me) have gotten interviews. How ****ed am I? or am I stupid to be worrying?
