Hi everyone,

I went through the whole application/interview process last year and just wanted to wish everyone the best of luck!!! I used this board a lot and it really helped me around this time last year. And a special good luck to joetro this year (I'm amazed by your perserverance)!!!

Mel

I spoke to someone in the psych dept. They said the invite will be in your e-mail inbox (if invited) on 1/28. Still sounds a bit weird to me...

Interview at Clark on 2/9

CUNY is going to have another round of interviews. Apparently by January 5th all invites will be sent out. I'm still hoping to get one!

Has anyone heard from Drexel or Suffolk? Thanks!

NO news from Drexel .... Yet, according to the first page of OFFICIAL Interview Invite List , some invitations have been sent out!!!:scared:

What school did you end up at and what is your area of interest if you don't mind me asking?

I don't mind at all. I went into the process with some broad interests including the cognitive correlates of anxiety, depression, and eating disorders as well as the psychology of women. I applied to 14 schools last year and am now working with Dr. Rick Ingram at the University of Kansas. His work, broadly, involves the cognitive processes associated with the onset and maintenance of depressive disorders. My thesis will explore the impact of trait hostility on these processes in individuals who are currently dysphoric.

If any of you applied to KU, let me know! I not in a position to be of any influence on the selection process, of course, but can certainly fill you in on some details of the program!

MelK were you MellDogg last year? It's nice to speak with you again. I'm glad you are somewhere that worked out well for you.

just received an email invite to interview for Suffolk's Clinical PhD...i guess they did keep their word by emailing before the 28th!

Yep, I was Mel-Dogg, but couldn't remember the password I used on this site last year, so had to reregister 🙂. Glad to see your sticking with it! I certainly hope you find a good fit this time around...

Interview at Clark on 2/9

I just got an e-mail for Suffolk Interview weekend. It reads Dear Applicant, so it's likely this is the only e-mail being sent out. Arrived around 12.

Hope you find the same e-mail.

good luck with your thesis bro.

🙂 you can call me sis, actually. 🙂 lol. And thanks for the well wishes.

I really love KU's program thus far. The faculty are amazing and the atmostphere couldn't be more supportive. Also, they just enacted a curriculum change to streamline course requirements, allowing some extra time for research, additional writing, clinical practice, etc. Also, for those interested in depression that are applying next year, Steve Illardi is also at KU.

I have a phone interview with my faculty member of choice today at UVM!

I got a Suffolk invite as well! This is really exciting!😀

Did they (secretary?) just call you to set up a phone interview later in the day with your prof of interest?

We could design a secret handshake. That might look a little odd though...😉

CONGRATULATIONS, Ella!! That is a fantastic program! Good luck with the phone interview!!! :luck: 😀

Any one else going to the Central Florida interview!! I wanna do a secret handshake!!!😛

While I try to do a good job on the list, don't take it as the ultimate source. I have even had one of mine be posted and then later I got a call, so who knows, lol. It helps to an extent, but don't trust it ultimately!

I will try NOT to give up!!!

anyone hear from Argosy Tampa?

Also- whats the percentage cut after interviews?

I don't know for Psy.D programs but from what I have heard and seen from the few schools who have emailed all the people who are receiving interviews without doing a blind carbon copy (oops) it looks like about three people for each spot, so if you have an interview your odds are much better than they were, but still not that that great. At least each applicant can only accept one offer! Good luck everyone!

Just got off phone interview with faculty member at UVM. I think I did well =)

Keeping my fingers crossed!

For those of you that have received interviews at BU, Yale, Emory, and WUSTL, could you please note either (1) who you applied to work with (although I know it works a little differently at Yale, where the best applicants are accepted regardless of who they want to work with [according to correspondence with a professor there]), AND/OR (2) if "official" notice has been sent to all invitees through a mass/generic email?

That would really, really help. Thanks.

And for those of you also waiting on GSU: who did you apply to work with? Just curious about the competition. 😉

sdsu/ucsd can be bolded. admissions commitee met today and invites are coming out from indiv profs, i would imagine over the next few days. interview dates 2/19 and 2/20 as previously posted

Remind me and I will bold it once people actually hear. That is the cutoff I am using...otherwise I am afraid I will flip people out.

sorry i wasn't clear, i heard by phone today from my person of interest, i was trying to say "i imagine over the next few days" just so people didn't freak out because their prof might wait until monday...

thanks for managing this list, it is very helpful!!

do you think we could hear from sdsu/ucsd this weekend? or that they'll probably wait until monday to give us a call?

that's one of my favorites....!!

also - where did you get this info TX?

oh, nevermind. didn't see your second post

Congratulations! Was that for the PsyD program? I applied to the PhD program, so I'm just wondering.

Received a rejection letter from Loyola University Chicago today in the mail...Bummer. 🙁

Hey guys!

For anyone that's applied to Indiana (Bloomington) - the official interview day is February 23rd. The interview day is for ALL psychology departments (neuropsych, cog, developmental, clinical, etc...) so there will be a load of students parading around🙂

If anyone wants some stats...for clinical, approximately 12 students are being brought in.

Did you receive an interview invite? When did you hear? I applied to IU and haven't heard anything...😕

Got a phone call from a professor at NYU today inviting me in for an interview. 🙂 Looks like the only interview day is the 9th.

For those of you who applied to Northwestern, check your application status online. Mine was updated today to show a rejection. Better luck to the rest of you who applied there!

Thanks, Irish! It was sort of low on the list but my list of schools is quickly dwindling and I only have two interviews currently. I'm paranoid that it's not enough to get one acceptance. We shall see!

Cheers~

who has an interview with University of Kentucky? I see that people have interviews but I haven't heard anything , do you mind if I ask with what professor? anyway, no interviews yet, no rejections yet either. I just have this icky feeling that on monday I'll get a snail mail box full of NO'S
Good Luck All!🙁

I'm paranoid that it's not enough to get one acceptance.

Not true at all!!!! One acceptance (at a school you like) is all it takes. If you only get one acceptance and you're embarrassed about it (which you shouldn't be--lots of great people only get in one place, and if you look at application numbers you'll see why), remember, you'll never need to tell anyone.

 I know that and I would have absolutely no shame in getting "only" one acceptance. I was not attempting to convey that I must have as many acceptances as possible to be considered worthy of anything. I am simply worried that I will not get one acceptance out of my two current interviews. This is my second time through--last time I was extended two interviews, yet it did me no good (except as preparation for this time around) as I was not accepted at either place. I am concerned that the same will happen this cycle as well . . . so I want more interviews to hopefully better my chances of getting that one.
