AND, I'd also say that if this interview thread were actually a competition or a game of some sort, and not just a forum, I would say you were a winner! Whatever sex you are, you win for all those rockin' interview invites and getting and accepting the offer for your "dream school" even before all of your interviews. You win!

i know i'm late in the game to be jumping into this convo, but irish, i totally thought you were a girl. probably because i am a fellow domer ('03 alum) and i have a ton of screen names and email addresses that are variations of 'irishmeg'...so anyway, when i saw someone reference you as a 'he' awhile back, i laughed to myself at their error...

anyway, just wanted to share that...and, that i think we are all clearly getting a little loopy (or however one would spell that) by this process...good times!

Hey all im off to Central Florida for my first face-face interview this app year. I am flying out of NJ into Orlando. Cant wait for the warmth. Anyways anyone else gonna be there?? I think ive asked a couple times so i dont think so. Anyway this will really test how addicted i am to this thread. Not being able to check it for two whole days!!!!

I applied to Easterm Mich and haven't heard anything yet. I am really hoping to get an interview, it seems like a good program. Just curious, on their statement.....did you have room or think it was appropriate to name a professor? I was encouraged to apply by one of the faculty and thought it was better to address information more relevant to the question, but am curious about how others approached it as it was completely different than the other statement questions I had encountered.

I am the younger of fraternal twins (technically speaking; it is only 2 minutes). I was born as a triplet with an identical sister, but I was still the last one out, middle in weight. I don't believe that I'm am type A. I feel like with some things, yes, but I am not ridiculously competitive. So, here's a potential solution if you have two interviews on the same day and are unable to make one . . . send a proxy! Hmm, I wonder what the reaction would be. 😀

Silly me! *slaps self on forehead* Here I was thinking that serotonin was big, manly neurotransmitter. Of course, now I'm picturing serotonin as a fuzzy pink chemical. I'll never stop laughing when I discuss neurotransmitters with my class. They'll think I'm even loonier than they currently do.

Ha, thank you, Ducky! i'm surprised how obvious it was that im female..if clinical programs werent so overwhelmingly female:male, this game would be more fun i suppose.

im driving to my dream school this weekend to check it out bc the recruitment trip isnt until march and my mentor suggested we get coffeee...im super psyched to meet her in person! the mentor match was probably the most important factor to me, above the institution, because in my 2 yrs as part of a collaborative psychiatric research group, i can see what bad mentors can do to good people and i want to STAND CLEAR of that bs. i found it quite helpful to ask POIs on interviews what their mentorship style is like, adn soemtimes even describing what im looking for in a mentor first. i was also told about the model at this school adn that some students get lost in the shuffle, and then asked "so what's your work style"..it was an importantr question bc articulating my response helped me to realize what a great match it was.

i am excited to see where everyone ends up!! and if you're applying straight out of undergrad, i would DEF recommend an RA job over a masters program (i ddi the former and this is my first time applying), and would be happy to share my exper. over PM with anyone..

Grr, Auburn just updated their site--apparently all emails for invites were sent today. So, if we don't get one, apparently no interviews for us. 🙁 Sort of sucky, this was one of my higher choices. I suppose I could look at it positively, however, as I had no desire to live in Alabama! 😀

I just received an email from Pacific University in Portland, Oregon inviting me to an interview and open house. Their Open House + Interview dates are March 9 & 10, but they also have interviews minus the open house on March 5, 6, and 12. Its for a PsyD program.

Hrm...I'm waiting on Auburn as well--this information is rather weird.

As for the earlier discussion, it's amazing how we like to automatically place a gender on a random screen name. I'm sure that it isn't hard to guess than I'm female (although a redhead--shocker! I'm a natural blonde). It just goes back to the western emphasis of having a gender distinction...could be an interesting research project.

Also, I would fall in the realm of female type A personalities, no question asked. However, I am the youngest of two. When studying Adler, I found it amusing to try to blend the second child characteristics with the youngest...and I definitely fit the second child more. However, my brother is only a year and a day older than me, so the age difference was not that critical.
