Hey there everyone! Figured I'd start this thread since I recently started preparing for the June 18th MCAT. For those of you who are taking the June 2nd MCAT, June 18th MCAT, or still considering one of those two dates, feel free to post here with any questions, comments, concerns, or support you have to offer!

Good luck to you all! Let's crush it.

Ill throw in my version too, I always think:

PuRINGS: G has a carbonyl and amine group
A has just an amine group

Pyramidines: C needs to match up with G, so it also has a carbonyl and amine group
U and T are twins, so they both have two carbonyls, but T has an extra methyl group (because it wants to be special).

Woah my husband suggested guano last night and I thought he was crazy for it. Now I realize I'm the crazy one! Haha hopefully this will stick, thanks for the help!
I used to watch Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls every single day when I was a kid, so I've been waiting to use the word "Guano" in real life. Finally my chance!
I actually meant what organs come from ectodern/mesoderm/endoderm but this was helpful too! Have any for these differentiation ones?
EK had the best graphic for this one and I've handwritten it about a million times. If you have their books, definitely take a look!

Also, anyone getting somewhat burned out? I just spent the last three hours eating KFC and watching Always Sunny. But now I have a bit of motivation to finish PS SB before bed.

I felt like that since the day 1 LMAO

My dad is in Korea and is visiting his surgeon today for the 1 year post-pancreatic cancer check up. I couldn't study much since I can't be there with him right now and I can only think about the result. I'm still waiting on it.

But, since I'm super behind anyways, I'm going to try to finish B/B SB and half of PS SB + 2 CARS passage + sociology part of reading on TPR since I have not done much with that part.

And taking scored FL tomorrow and finish PS SB with going over my error notes + PS notes from Khan.

Friday, hoping to study PS high yield topics, metabolic pathways, acid/bases, light optics, and review my FL mostly.

AAMC scored:506, Breakdown is:
C/P: 128 (48/59)
CARS:125 (37/53) weird cause this is usually my highest section
B/B:127 (44/59)
P/S:126 (43/59)
I found this to be a hell of a lot harder than the sample FL. I usually destroy CARS sections but this one killed me. P/S I think the sociology terms killed me. However, I think if i refocus for the actual mcat, my cars should go back up cause I got around a 130 on the sample. And if I study sociology terms, my P/s should go up. Hopefully.....

Currently unwinding with Brooklyn Nine-Nine. So funny! Highly recommend.

Same here! CARS got me real bad on 2 passages, and then there were a lot of new terms. We got this!

Well the good news is, your science scores are solid so you only have to worry about the mildly easier sections! (I got a 504 btw, and I feel you on the cars)

whatever you do, DONT watch the league

I swear it's the reason that my MCAT score went down the first time I took it

Hey guys,

My first time actually posting on here. Yay! But I am taking the MCAT this saturday and I finally got around to doing the P/S section bank and Oh MY! It is nothing like the practice FL's I have been doing with this section. Do you guys know if people have been saying that the real MCAT P/S section is similar to the section banks?

This was one of my fav sections ... not anymore 🙁

Bro, dont stress out, section banks are the hardest material we can be presented with. Typically its 20-30% of a section, maybe. Like everyone said, look over it, understand the thinking, and that's all you have to do. Its about the thinking process. Hold the scored and unscored tests to a higher value for Gameday.

Thanks ! Because the other sections were hard but totally doable. I actually understood their logic to the questions. Lol. This P/S is a whole different ball game for me. But I'll definitely use it as a learning experience and not stress out about it so much.

Hey peeps. New to the convo. Been following it since yesterday though. Seems like I'm the one with the lowest AAMC practice test score: 502 🙁 (126/125/127/124). I kinda messed up in psyc. so I'll be joining you on the quest to stuff all-things-psycology tomorrow. 😵

Congrats to the people who got higher scores though! You'll kill it! :horns:

Welcome

I probably will be another one after I take my scored exam tomorrow.

I too need to study PS part hard.

Go through section banks if you haven't! If you have, then study the sh** out of SB for that section.

About 3/4 through the P/S SB and I have a list of 20 words I've never seen or blatantly don't remember at all lol. So that's on my to do list tomorrow.

The section banks, despite being demoralizing, have helped.

Just finished going over 200 pages of notes as review. I don't think i'll remember all of it on test day. Ugh this is so frustrating. June 2nd was rather easy, so i'm going to be terrified if I open the C/P section and it's all Einstein physics calculations.

200 notes review in one day?! wooow...

I'm still going through B/B section bank...

Yeah, I am hoping that the C/P section isn't math heavy because I am soooo slow when doing calculations. Lol. It already takes me too long to complete that section as is. I am always cutting it close.

Yeah... I can't do the other section banks (the one with 3 sections, 100 questions each) without wanting to cry. I did decent on the scored AAMC, hoping that's more indicitive of the real thing.

Yeah, its kind of brutal but its definitely helping to know what I need to look over and study more before Saturday. Alot of people said the section banks are what helped them for the real test. I also heard the scored is indicative of the real thing. I'm taking mine tomorrow. I am terrified of getting a crappy score. Lol

I'm just trying to weigh the confidence buster vs. the marginal benefit of getting them all done in 2 days... Some of those questions in the BioChem I have never heard of and ive actually recently taken biochem and read the entire Kaplan book. What is that?!

Hi! I took the June 2nd exam and the power went out when I was mostly finished with C/P. Section bank helped a lot! Especially the biochemistry part of C/P. Overall, the section was much easier than the scored one, but if I hadn't gone over the section bank it wouldn't have been.

My brain has exploded haha I still have to review formulas and watch a few Khan Academy videos. I got a 509 on the scored 2 weeks ago, and I'm praying I get a 510+ on the real thing!

I definitely understand. They definitely killed my confidence at first but I just took them for what they were ... another useful tool that could potentially help me. I only just decided to use them since I had already purchased them a while back and didn't want them to go to waste. I want to fit in the sample test but I know that would be impossible so I am just going to take the scored tomorrow and just continue to look over high yield topics.

Are you studying just in case you need to retake?

I thought the only scored thing was the AAMC Practice Test? Ok.... I'm 89% convinced I'll add it to my list of to dos. I did all the other section banks, with the 120 questions per subject.

Oh I meant section banks, sorry I'm literally brain dead at this point! I would recommend doing every single AAMC material available!

What do you mean? I"m taking the June 18th one, since I wasn't able to finish the June 2nd.

Ohhhhh, gotcha. Well that's good that you were able to get a sense of how one section was on the real thing. Hopefully its not as hard as some of the section bank questions.

It wasn't bad! Although there was a guy at that exam who took the May 20th and voided because C/P was so difficult and calculation heavy- so there's a huge variety in what we might get! Here's to hoping it's more biochem based, as I detest physics haha

Just finished looking over the AAMC Scored, got a 512 (130/127/127/126). That, along with a 71/81/92/86 on the Sample FL should have me set for a 512+, right?

niceee your B/B and P/S section are pretty high on Sample test

but C/P was higher on scored. not bad.
