Hey there everyone! Figured I'd start this thread since I recently started preparing for the June 18th MCAT. For those of you who are taking the June 2nd MCAT, June 18th MCAT, or still considering one of those two dates, feel free to post here with any questions, comments, concerns, or support you have to offer!

Good luck to you all! Let's crush it.

It sounds like we may have had the same exam. Ugh Im getting so discouraged reading about the easy CARS. Ours were kinda boring, right?
I thought it was extremely long and boring. CARS is usually my best section, and that section destroyed me. Really convoluted answer choices. Honestly, the whole exam didn't really feel like it was written by AAMC. The style of questions and wording of answers was bizarre to me.

I got a 130 on the AAMC scored fl cars and I thought the CARS today destroyed me as well. Seemed much more long and convoluted than any aamc cars section I've done. Really disheartening since that's always been my strongest section.

Thank goodness. I thought I was the only one. My confidence usually comes from that section, but there was no spark today...

C/p - first half wasn't bad but I was running out of time so had to rush second half

Cars - a lot of really hard to follow passages even tho I can usually at least follow the practice cars I've done

B/b - first half wasn't bad but some section bank like passages

P/s - some really easy questions and some WTF are these answer choices even saying? Questions. This is usually my strength too.

Overall it wasn't like the AAMC practice exams at all really other than B/b section bank.... Marked a **** ton of questions and didn't have time to review them all. Completely guessed on a few but I was able to eliminate choices on most questions. It was a lot harder than I expected due to time constraints

For perspective I got a 511 on the AAMC scored.

We definitely had the same test, sounds exactly what I went through. Someone was talking about a certain structure, and Im fairly sure I didnt have that on my test.

yep, sounds like you, me, and @bigindian4891 had the same test. I got 515 on the scored and don't know if i even got a 505 on this test.

Good to hear some high scorers were having trouble too... I thought I dun goofed after the first section and I had to rethink my test taking strategy for the rest of the test cuz I was barely finishing the sections with any time left other than psych I had like 20 mins left to review.

Hoping for a 508 at least :/

Oh boy, were those CARS passages long. Hoping for a 125-126 on that.

The rest did not seem too terrible. Some unfamiliar terms on P/S but that was about it. Hoping for at least a 510-512+!

For context, retaking a 507 with a 512 on the AAMC Sample Test I took earlier this week.

C/P: What in the actual ****. Thought it was more on par with the question bank difficulty. Couldn't have done anything more.
CARS: Passages were so much longer than anything I'd done. Not bad, but still off.
B/B: Pretty hard, but definitely a lot better than C/P. Good mix of stuff.
P/S: I read the entire TPR book twice and still didn't recognize some terms. Again, left me thinking wtf.

Overall, I have no clue whatsoever. Just happy to have it over with.

How I feel like I did

C/P: 120.... Just no.....

CARS: 127, felt all right

B/BS: 127, not bad but some questions were ????

P/S: 126, couldn't concentrate for the last half... don't think I studied the right definitions 🙁

Overall, I feel worse than I have ever felt after any of the practice tests... 🙁
SAME!!! CP wtf?!?!

Got there at 6:45, we were checked in by 7:30, started at 7:45

CP- not bad. Think I did the best I've ever done. My formula sheet strategy absolutely helped

CARS - very long passages, but triaging the section was gold. jumped around and was able to hit the sections I liked first and the. Those with the most associated questions to maximize points

B/B- much easier than all the content I've reviewed. The passages were long, but also much repetition between them

PS - taking neuro this year really helped me

don't be upset until we get scores. I'm sure you guys did great. We've all worked so hard for this

Also, didn't do section banks, but made my own anki deck from scratch. I think it was the best move I've made.

Oh wow wow wow.
Okay so first off- I want to say that I studied hardcore for C/P, and got 70% on the section banks.

C/P- WHAT THE HELL. I almost asked the proctor if I was in some advanced physics test instead of the MCAT. So much I didn't know. I am pretty sure I didn't even get 40 right. I marked 15, and I did the final passage in 5 minutes and I guessed on one question in the final passage. SO SO SO SO HARD. I was so demoralized at that point. I literally was about to start crying and almost just walked out. Gave myself a pep talk.

CARS- LOVE LOVE LOVE! My favorite section, finished in 45 minutes, and then desperately wanted to transfer time over to C/P. There were 2 questions I waffled back and forth on answers. But I felt good.

B/B- Not bad. Felt okay/comfortable. Probably marked around 10, there was a question on my test that didn't make sense. Like it wasn't written in normal English. I'm praying for 127, especially since C/P destroyed me.

P/S- Normally my second best subject, but there was 1 passage that didn't make sense!!! And a few other questions. Overall not bad, I normally make a 129 on this section. Don't see that happening here, since I probably missed up to 10.

Overall: Worst test. June 2nd C/P was so much easier. Bummed and depressed and confused as to why I didn't void. Honestly, the first thing I said was I shouldn't have even studied for C/P since it was all stuff I didn't know.

Also: I want to resume studying, since I might have to take it again. But I don't know how to study for C/P anymore? I did all I could and I still don't know anything. June 2nd I knew everything. How is this fair.

That sucks! I started by 8.

Anyone else considering registering for another test date? I don't even know what else to study, I just feel like CARS destroyed me and I'm doomed.
No, @sleepyhead22, youve got this. Despite how the test went, post-test feelings are always the worst. I would wait for scores to come out before you make your next move. You dont know if you need to study at least until then, and you really dont want to be studying for the next 4 weeks for a test you might not take, right?

Just got done. My head hurts.

C/P: horrible. Physics crazy. I hope everybody did as bad as I did so that curve is golden. Hardly any biochem wtf??? I saw like maybe 3-4 biochem related topics? Guessed on WAY too many. All those calculations?? I'd be surprised if I got above 123...

CARS: honestly, wasn't too bad. I enjoyed reading some of the passages. The first half was good but I guessed on the last passage. Ran out of time because of those insanely long passages. I'm thinking maybe 1261-127

B/B: like everyone said, good for the first half. But the last few passages were like ......are you freaking kidding me? It took me 10 minutes per passage just to figure out what all the damn acronyms were. I couldn't keep track of all the enzymes and inhibitors and shiz. Data analysis, data analysis, data analysis. That's all I have to say about this section.

P/S: I don't even know. Weird passages and even weirder questions? Marked a shiiiiit ton. The only section with extra time left but I was just so tired that the info was hardly registering through my brain. Like some of the questions were on crap you'd least expect to be on there. Idk. 126-127?

Def didn't go as well as I'd hoped. Sigh. I knew C/P was gonna be bad, but not THAT bad.......

I think AAMC just puts one or two impossible passages in each section so everything thinks they did bad... At least that's what I'm hoping

I was getting this vibe as well. Each section had a passage or two that was ridiculous. That's probably what separates the high scorers from the powerhouse scorers. The latter of which being the 516+ (ish)

You retook without getting your score first? :O

Also i chatted with a few people during lunch, and none of them had done the section banks....

Funny same thing happened at my test, I was surprised since it's literally AAMC material not like hidden secret stuff. But then again I constantly hear about people that take the MCAT cold or start studying a week before...

On a somewhat related note whenever I meet a younger pre-med or just about any pre-med that needs advice the first thing I tell them is to make an SDN account lol.

I'm convinced they put impossible passages on there to test if we know what we DONT know and just skip those to put time into solving the doable but moderately hard ones. That was my
Strategy for the last 3 sections

I agree.

I felt completely demoralized after taking this exam. I took the aamc fl scored under test conditions on Monday and scored a 512. At this point I would be happy to get a 505.

The people I talked to in my waiting room were discussing "yeah as long as you get a 500 you'll get in somewhere."

I was just sitting there like wtf. The dude that studied the most in my group only took 3 practice exams and studied barely a month.

Definitely with you on getting an SDN account. So much good info. And it gives you a solid reality check about what other people applying with you are doing.

According to Altius, something like 3% of all questions are "throwaway" questions that don't even count towards your score. I dunno where they get that information though.

Oh gosh I don't know if I should laugh or feel bad for that person. Out of like the 10ish close pre-med friends I have only one of them studied 4-6months(however strangely two of them scored 35+ on the old one studying 3-4weeks....sadly one of them didn't get in due to not having any volunteering at all, I felt really bad for him :/).

SDN is the best reality check I ever got, it may be scary seeing all these people with perfect scores and killer ECs but it's a great group to associate with. I feel like a lot of that kind of work ethic and neuroticism really rubbed off on me in a good way lol.

Not to mention the WAMC forum is the best thing ever, creating a good list is crucial. I know too many people that applied to 1-3 schools or all reaches.

I also know too many people that either don't know about DO or think poorly of it for no reason at all.

God bless SDN!

did any of your guys like straight up say "wtf is this passage about for CARS and just pick random answers and move on" I feel like I'm the only one who did that...
