I opened this thread for the 9/1/2012 MCAT test takers.

If anyone has taken the exam today, please post how you felt the exam went, without breaking AAMC regulations. I am interested in seeing how our test today compares with the other threads indicating their test difficulty. I'll start with how I felt my exam went . . .

PS - Difficult (not material but time to finish)
VR - Difficult (always hard for me to finish this section with any time remaining)
BS - Difficult (insanely long)

Ultimately, I am very disappointed with the AAMC selling their CBT's as practice exams because this MCAT was nothing like the others that I purchased! Everything was extremely long!!

Mainly, I had adopted a study habit to take into account my time limits with regard to each section, and then . . . .. POW . . . blindsided with longer exam. Hard to budget time when you expected what you studied for with the purchased CBT's.

Who will be with me for the retake next month? 🙁
Or who will be with me to go take the OAT? <---- No offense to anyone!! Just a joke!

Everything went ok until the BS section.

BS is insanely long. Unlike the practice AAMC, it asks a lot more about information in the passages rather than bio facts that we have studied, so I need to read the passages again and again to get a thorough understanding of the gene regulation mechanisms. I ended up guessing more than half of the answers of 1 bio passages because of the lack of time to read the passage.

Sign, I should have done more practice exams. MCAT is more about time management in answering questions than actually knowing the science stuff.

Same here man. I think there's really no way to study for the MCAT Bio expect reading a load of science journal articles and understanding their experiments and data.

I took the 7/14 MCAT and then yesterday's and I didn't feel like there was too much of a difference (made a 32Q on the July test). I agree that the test felt pretty long. I usually finish reviewing my marked questions with a lot of time left but this time it was pretty close. I am a biochem major, so the bio was a little easier for me I suppose, but I still had to read more than I would have liked to. I thought the Verbal passages were harder than 7/14, so the questions seemed easier.

Does anyone else think that we shouldn't have to wait a month when it is nearing the end of the testing season?? There were hardly anyone in my testing center yesterday. They should wrap this up quickly!

I was pretty unhappy with it.

My last 4 practice exams I was scoring 32-33ish--so I was prepared to score around there. However...

PS: Difficult to me, I felt all of the subjects I studied and learned inside-out weren't represented in the slightest. I'm generally a 10 (rarely 11) PS taker, this one did not feel good.

VR: Eh, VR it either "clicks" with you one day or it doesn't. It just didn't click for me. An i KNEW I was changing my last answer to a correct one and literally as I'm clicking time expires. I was very upset. I think part of my problem was I couldn't shake off the poor PS performance.

BS: I feel I scored in the 11-12 range for bio.

Basically I know what it feels like to walk away from a test and sections to know you did better than 10+. I only felt that for bio. So needless to say I probably won't be getting in anytime soon.

... on the bright side my essays rocked. (lol too bad that doesn't mean anything).

PS - Not bad but definitely had to know your stuff
VR - Its verbal what are ya gonna do.. - Much prayer and sacrifice of goats will be needed
BS - Pretty much a verbal. Had to get in the zone like read at the edge of my seat analyzing the passage like my life depended on it.

All in all - it could've been a lot worse. But who knows it probably is a lot worse. wamp wamp waaa. Good luck to all.

PS - I thought this section was fairly straightforward. There were really no curve balls but there was a lot more calculations required that I had an anticipated and made for a time crunch. Still thought I got about 10 or 11.

VR - This was by far the hardest section. If I got a 9 I would be happy.

BS - Section was also what I expected, it was difficult but not impossible. Hoping for a 10.
