Official MCW Class of 2009 Thread

Well looks like the GSII surgeons are living up to their wonderful reputation by abusing medical students. What a surprise 🙂

Nothing like being yelled at in the halls of clinic, "You're not helping me! I have to do it all myself anyway. So just get out!" Then nurses commented that a doctor just yelled at the med student.

I know I'm not helping; I know I'm useless; I'm a med student. Hospitals function perfectly well without med students.

Just like grandma said, you can't change someone after 20 + years. People who yell for no reason, specifically surgeons who yell, tend to be idiots no matter how you look at it. My favorite is when you see a surgery intern on the wards acting like God and commanding medical students like a military general. Someone just needs to remind Caesar that merely 3 months ago he was a medical student too. But there's no reason to yell at anyone. Surgeons who yell at medical students for no reason are also yelling at secretaries, at nurses, at technicians for no reason.

And medical students are not useless. I can name numerous teams on the wards that would simply collapse if it weren't for the help of medical students. People just don't want to admit it.

Anyone voting for Obama on the 19th?

yup.

I might have gotten lucky, but I didn't have any issues with yelling on my surgery rotation. Actually, none of my rotations so far.

I am so grateful to the 2009er who handed down his pharm cards to me. I am especially pleased by the extremely informative alprostadil cards.

WOOHOO alprostadil.

Who ever gave you those cards owes my father an apology. We heart alprostadil!!

(No, he doesn't use it, he discovered it... just wanted to put that out there before people started asking me questions that I really don't want to think about).

You don't have to apologize for being proud of your dad. Heck, I was proud of mine this week for eating one more bite of tuna salad, which is a rather smaller thing.

I think a person's affection for alprostadil depends on whether he/she is faced with the need to maintain a PDA on the one hand or whether the proximity of the words "injection" and "corpus cavernosum" makes him think too much of his own corpus cavernosum on the other.

Yeah... unfortunately, my Dad is responsible for the impotence part and not so much the PDA part. Well, maybe not unfortunately for us, but certainly for anyone who is too empathetic.

I say we all go to Brady this weekend and party! Who is with me?

Alprostadil! What great memories it brings back. So I met this genius one time during my ER rotation who saw this commercial about injecting stuff into his male machinery for "enhancement." Guess what happened? He injected himself and this material -- whatever it was -- didn't distribute evenly in his uhum. So he showed up with his thing looking like a tadpole. Can you picture it? A hugely oversized tip thanks to the glue he injected and a small, narrow shaft. I hope he got his refund 🙂

Yeah! Done with Ob/Gyn!!

I got lucky and got all the nice residents. I actually enjoyed the last 6 weeks.

I got the email telling me where to be for OB/GYN orientation on monday. I think someone is confused.

Can I do OB again instead of my sub-I?

Sweet. Now, who wants to go to work for me today?

Here's Chloe!!!!

Tons of photos so far, but for some reason the cutest one seems to be where she's weighing herself.

Very cute, Splat. Enjoy it while she's tiny...it doesn't last long. Although even though they do the funniest stuff when they are little, my dog still cracks me up at least once a day.

Your dog stayed tiny.

If anyone hears of someone trying to get rid of a black or siamese kitten, I'd be interested.

Very cute Splat.

Cute kitten. I had pets for my entire childhood - two of my chinchillas are still alive, but my sisters take care of them now. Chauncy is 13 years old! I've had goldfish, newts, anoles (lizard), leopard frog, garter snakes, toads, tadpoles, neon tetras, several rabbits, and as many as 13 chinchillas while I was breeding them. We begged for a dog for a while, but we never had one when I lived at home. My parents have one now. But now I don't really want any pets, because of the upkeep they require....but I'll probably give in when my kids want pets. I've always wanted a rat because of their intelligence, but my wife is terrified of them.

Hey Funk and Splat. If you guys get a lunch break on Wed from 12-1 let me know. I'll have the break from lecture then.

Provided I've survived this awesome food poisoning, sure.

Sounds like good times to me.

i wonder how much I can risk eating a slightly larger lunch.

kashi cereal tolerated for breakfast.

She has sexy pictures from Maxim or some other men's magazine floating around the net. Lucky for you, I'm over her, so I won't mind that you're interested.
Indeed, she does, but she's married. I do think it's pretty hot when a chick can weld.

It's because of Kari that you can tell the episodes are filmed out of order - her hair gets longer and shorter, her knee is in a brace, her knee is not in a brace, her knee is in a brace.

what's with the campus safety email I just got?
edit: nevermind. They must be referring to the shootings at NIU, not something that happened at MCW.

time to try some lunch!

Ah. I was very confused. 😕

Are there any protesters our there today? or did the weather scare them off?

Chicken soup consumed. Probably too much for my poor stomach, so now it feels a tad overworked. Oof.

Wasn't it bad weather last year too and MCW brought coffee and stuff out to them?

Yeah, I think it was really cold out. MCW should just be a little nicer and schedule the animal labs for springtime when it's not as uncomfortable for the protesters.

I HAVE CABLE AGAIN. I DON'T EVEN FREAKING KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MYSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
