So far, according to both Qbank and UW, I didn't learn ANY pathology this year. 👎

I just got a heavy micro set of 50 Qbank questions -- that was fun. Did you guys know that Hawaii has the highest incidence of Leptospirosis? Neither did I.
Now I need to see what I got wrong, since I got the email saying pharm tests were in our boxes as I was finishing up the 50 questions. I know pharm better than Kaplan thinks I do.
Well?
Just finished up my OB call schedule.
My last call is on the 19th, and the exam is on the 28th.
So other than the 19th and the 27th, whenever you guys want to get together to talk wards is fine by me.
what brought you to Wisconsin in the first place? and how long were you at Golda Maier?
Can anyone verify that MCW offers a pediatric emergency medicine residency? This is what I'm interested in (for now), and I think the tour guide at my interview was intending on doing emergency peds. I want to say that it was a 5 year program at MCW, but I could be wrong. If you guys have any information or know where there are any details, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
Splat would probably know more about this, but here is what I know about the path to Peds ER.
One, you do an ER residency (three years), with a Peds ER Fellowship (two years). For a total of five.
Two, you do a Peds residency (three years), with the Peds ER fellowship. Again, five years.
I believe MCW offers Peds ER fellowships.
Three is the combined Peds/ER residency, which is a total of five years. Here you would be dual boarded in Peds and EM. I don't think MCW has this option.
A good place to check this out is the FREIDA website. Just google "FREIDA", and it's the first thing that pops up.
Hope that helps.
That right there is enough to make me go into emergency medicine. 😀 EM is just sounding better and better these days.edit: one other thought that is wicked f-ing awesome. MCW residents can become certified flight physicians and fly on Flight for Life in their second year.

well, that's not a problem you're dealing withsorry, a helmet wouldn't fit your hair.

to the best of my knowlege MCW only offers a straightup regular 3 year EM residency. Residents do have to do rotations through various settings, including surgery, anesthesiology, and the Children's ED among others, so they do get some good peds experience here. Checking the MCW website I don't see anything about peds fellowships, which is contrary to what I thought. But here there is no "straight to peds" EM residency.

edit edit: the helicopter has twin engines so you're twice as likely to survive every flight!

thanks to large amounts of testosterone spilling over to DHT via 5-alpha-reductase
Sounds like a set-up for prostate cancer.
Urology to the rescue!
You people are odd. I am very tired.

They have their own language, too.
and possibly some sort of weird fetish involving syrup and pork products.
So, I uh, thought I was leaving for London in ten days, but my wife's passport hasn't arrived, and the gov't is saying they haven't got it in their system yet, and they can't expedite it until they get it in their system.
:runs around screaming:
what now???

Nice to see you up so bright and early today, Alabaster Bear.
I hear they are really backed up since they started requiring passports to mexico starting in jan. There is a way to get it in a couple of days but it will cost you a testicle

Don, I was saying "I hate biochem."
This has been a painful 2 days, neuro then biochem.
Yeah, but those are the ones I'd probably get right. Meanwhile, I'm learning that the vestibular nucleus projects to the contralateral CN VI nucleus and the ipsilateral CN III nucleus via the MLF. Saccades oppose angular velocity.Yeah, it sucks. The good thing is that you'll never, ever be pimped on the enzymes of the TCA cycle.

Sounds like a rowdy Friday night.![]()
I am eating Count Chocula for dinner! Ha!!! This makes Xandie happy.
I have tomorrow off. That also makes Xandie happy.
I have to relearn half of biochem tomorrow for a standardized exam that will have a disproportionately large effect on my career. That makes the Funkster unhappy.
I was done with biochem as of 5pm. I made cookies because I'm bored and tired.
what's all your favorite kinds of cookies, guys and gals? i know its boring but i LOOOOOOOVE chocolate chip the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😍 😍 😍
Mmmm...my dad's oatmeal scotchies (oatmeal w/ butterscotch chips). Best cookies evarrr. Close second would have to be the chocolate/coconut/caramel thingys they have at the Blood Center for you to eat after you donate.
add to that Xandie's count chocula and i'm ready to splooge mayo on myself.

I'm a chocolate chip guy for sure. You can't argue with a classic.
A close second for me are M&M cookies. Especially fresh out of the oven.
