that's sorta like how I sadly didn't qualify for astronaut school because of my low Astronaut School Standardized Admissions Test (ASSAT). I really thought I'd thanks to awesome ECs like several alien abductions.

hahaha.

On a side note. My family's friends in CA have 3 kids. They paid for their 2 daughters to go to college without loans (UCSD); they paid for their eldest daughter to go to UCI med school without any loans and bought her a condo in Orange County (expensive place). Now they're paying for their younger daughter to go to dental school at Case Western ($50K/year) without loans. I think their son is in college this year. The dad is a dentist. My mom told me I was in the wrong field.

He'll get his when when St. Peter asks him to explain what he did with his life at the pearly gates.

Or at least that's what I tell myself when I hear about a dentist's 9-1 pm workday followed by a round of golf every day and a leisurely Scrooge McDuck-like wade in their vault of money after their 7-course dinner.

Meanwhile I'm sitting in the library alone trying to rememorize biochem pathways that no one other than biochemists really need to know, and I had to debate whether putting mustard on my sandwich today was a good use of my meager funds.

I'm using today as my catch up day aka going through all the old questions I'ven't gone through yet, and doing some more Qbank. Tomorrow will be anatomy.

Behaivoral Science day for me today. Tomorrow is Qbank/Review day. I'm getting really frustrated by Qbank, though. When I use it on my laptop with a wireless connection, it craps out on me every 10 minutes or so. My connection to the internet is always fine (as evidenced by me being on SDN while waiting for Qbank to restore itself), and the problem never happens in the computer lab or at home where my laptop is connected by cable. I don't know what the deal is, but last time I called Qbank to see if they could help they took my number and said they'd call back later in the day and then never did.

My personal recipe milk chocolate chip-white chocolate chip-macadamia cookies. Awesome. Almost everyone I give them to asks for the recipe. 🙂

Prove it. Cookies please.

I have some free time in July, I'll pencil you in then.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to work I go... bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum Hi Ho Hi Ho Hi Ho Hi Ho... see y'all in the afternoon, hopefully.

It's great when I have to look up definitions from explanations in Qbank. I feel bad enough when I've never heard of a stupid bug -- Erysipelothrex rhusiopathiae?? Then the description of it includes increased risk in abattoir workers and housewives. Apparently an abattoir is a slaughterhouse.

That's the thing about Step I. There will be things on there you've never heard of. The trick is to try and reason through it. Then, if you're stumped, take a shot at the answer, and move on. If you have time at the end of a block, go back to it. If not, forget about it.

That's why nobody gets a perfect score on the boards.

Chance of that being on the boards (especially now that we'll all remember it) = approximately 0.

Ashers I saw you today!!! That was quite the bag of cookies on your desk. I bet you didn't realize I saw you.

Doctor Funk, I see you are studying Cell Bio today. Did you know I saw you studying?

Pratik is even in the library today!!!!!! Just wanted to make sure EVERYONE knows I saw him too.

I bet you didn't even realize that I took a cookie without asking. Har!~!!!1

Hmmmm. So I actually did fairly well on my fake U-SMILE exam. I wish that it would count for something.

Hmmmm. So I actually did fairly well on my fake U-SMILE exam. I wish that it would count for something.

I heard one guy in our class (an ex-SDN poster, actually) put down "B" for all of the answers since it didn't count for anything. Apparently the administration is none-too-happy about it.

woo hooo, I made my cut-off for CTB with one single question left as a buffer. I have a feeling that my phys is going to go the other way. 😛

Phys, What about Neuro! I really hate that class

It was the exact opposite for me last year - one point low on CTB, one point safe on Phys.

Ashers, I had the Erysipelothrex question today, too. Another one in a different question was Cardiobacterium hominis. Apparently a cause of subacute bacterial endocarditis, along with the other HACEK organisms that you have to worry about w/ dental procedures.

My goal score for neuro seems a bit more attainable than phys. I've been doing pretty well in phys, and there's the whole "diminishing returns" thing. Meanwhile, my catastrophic first neuro exam has been mostly remedied.

Looks like Ashers is gonna crush the you smiles. She looks pretty intense over there....

Obligatory "Prowler killed the thread with his somewhat bothersome stalking habits" bump for the increasingly braindead 09ers.

So in the email from Lance to our class, it just said Qbank's micro question's are a lot like the real ones. If that's so, I'm screwed. Unless it's something about leptospira in HI.

My brain hurts. What is the pharmacologic intervention for that??

Samenewme's a smart lady... definetely, definetely do what she says. 🙂

I don't have to be at work until 7 am tomorrow! Yahoo!!!

sorry, you didn't look quite as intense as Ashers

He's doing it again!

And he didn't say ANYTHING about ME! *I* looked intense. (I feel intense every time I turn my head. I pulled something in my neck and it huuuuuurrrts.) 🙁

Hey Ash--is Qbank down for you too? I haven't been able to pull it up since I packed up and went home. 🙁

Hebrew National Hot Dogs for dinner = the best thing ever, more or less.

Although Cinnamon Toast Crunch is pretty super too...

Good thing I went grocery shopping last week.

Viva la studying!

First sunburn of the year: today... eating lunch outside. Grrr... and also, owww.

Yeah, it's been funny. Which sucks. I was going to look and see what I've been doing wrong.

I bumped my 54% on a Micro block up to 68% today. So...I guess that means I'm learning something, at least, right?

Nobody likes a show-off. 🙄

Moral of the story: Qbank is sucking away my will to live.

Okay, good point. I was actually passively-aggressively bragging because I don't think he even saw me.
Nope. My radar didn't show any samenewme blips. Funk and Ashers have been implanted with tracking devices, unbeknownst to them.

Bet ya can't find me! Ha!

Hey incredibly helpful Xandie and Don - question:

One of the options for medicine is inpatient one month and geriatrics the other. Is the geriatrics outpatient or inpatient?

Thanks!!

woo hoo, my neuro final improved my grade (and by a relatively slim margin)!

I have a feeling that my lucky streak will wipe out on Friday afternoon 😛

Here's an eponym for you to look up on your handy-dandy PDA, Ashers: Pickwickian syndrome.

You guys already know your neuro grades? I thought that test was this morning...are they doing those online now?

I'm willing to bet they just posted the key in the 2nd floor hallway and people had to grade the exams themselves. Or maybe the neuro powers-that-be are simply having the mothership beam the grades directly into the students' brains these days.
