So does that mean Peds Cards or Peds Cards Surgery in Oct?

Hey, so who wants to help with the yearbook? I talked to Dr. Haldemann a little about it today, and it's not really gonna get started til June/July, but she'll start taking hard copies of pics towards the end of May.

I started going through pics already to put on a CD then take to costco to have made into hard copies. It could be totally fun if we had a good group working on the yearbook.

Let's see if she makes it back to SDN. I kinda told her to come and see all our schedules.

Anyway, happycows, if you come back, your little "uh...sighhhhhhh" totally reminds me of studying for step 1 AND my now ex-neighbor, marty. Bad combo.

I don't really want my med sub-I in feb... hopefully I'll be able to switch it later. I hear there are some ortho interviews in the beginning of Feb. =(

I did my med sub-I in Feb, it wasn't too bad. After 3 months off for interviews I was actually kind of happy to get back to school.

Oh and I had one interview in early Feb too. They didn't have any problem letting me off. Just talk to your course coordinator and try not to fill out any of the official time-off request stuff that goes through the registrar.

Awesome, thanks! =) I was thinking about it, and I'll only have 28 days of a medicine sub-I (none of this 30-31 day stuff); it'll be junk weather anyway; and I thought maybe if I pleaded, and I needed time off for an interview they'd give it to me, since by that time, not many people doing their medicine sub-I will be going into medicine.

My schedule's definitely not how I anticipated it, but if I can get an ortho away in August; it'll be great. I basically got the derm rotation at my parent's friend's office set up (sounds really cool too -- apparently he does a suturing + skills work shop like teaching how to do flaps, since he does mainly skin cancer). And I could probably get those stupid photos that we need taken at home by my photographer friend.

My truck is actually from Penske... ended up being the cheapest for what I needed.

I concur. The Penske 16-foot truck was just under $500 for my move, which sounds pretty good to me. I didn't even price out U-haul, because I'm lame.

Or perhaps you want to arrive at your destination in the same truck in which you leave here. Extravagant!

I use penske because their trucks come with brakes.

Hey, you better be moving that ER to October and going to Belize with me. Regardless, I will still have fun. :meanie:

In case she doesn't come back on, she explained her plans to me to switch her classes around come 20 May. Needless to say, I was confused, but she's got it figured out.

This is the first time I've been slightly jealous of you and your track now, April. I want to be an M4 in 1.5 months. I'm tired of this M3 business. (But I'm really glad I didn't have the big 3 first.)

Hey Xandie, if I happen to switch to anesthesia, how flexible would the Women's Health rotation be in November? I don't want to have to change that if I don't have to. I think I'm gonna like that rotation.

Oh, and could you pm your friend's email address? (the one that switched from surgery to anesthesia). I don't have any burning questions right now - I suck at that - but it'd be nice to have someone to contact when I do. Thanks so much for the help!

There's a 2nd year anesthesia resident who went to MCW who originally started in ortho then switched to anesthesia like M4 year. If you want to talk to him too; he's awesome. Everytime he sees me, he tries to get me to switch.

I will keep that in mind. Thanks!

Ashers, were you the one who recommended Lange's micro "USMLE road map" review book? Did you use anything other than that?

It cost me $200 to move 4 hours away with Uhaul, so $500 sounds awesome to move all that way. I've heard good things about Penske.

Hope the packing is going well. I'm very anal-retentive when packing, so then it takes me forever. Plus I'm some sort of packrat/purger combo. Too much clutter, yet I love to purge. Xandie, I see you as a purger.

I'm inspired now to go through my closet today.

Ahh, okay. This one is Micro and Infectious Diseases and is in typical review book format. Cool, thanks!

Alright all you haters, I am back.

Yes, I have peds cards and not peds cardiac surgery. Peds cards is an elective, peds cardiac surgery is an IS. I messed up and put the wrong class but there are some openings so I want to switch to cardiac surgery.

I turned in my paperwork for the letter of good standing last week, so hopefully I will hear about Belize this next week. I figured I should put an elective in April just in case I don't get accepted for the Belize rotation. If they do accept me, then I want to move my ER month to October.

You should just come join the insanity more often.

I am also a packrat/purger, embracing my bulimic side at the moment. Plus, I have lots of marriage-related stuff (seriously, do I wear a 44x30 men's pant? not so much), which I'm enjoying throwing away. No word on what to do with the wedding dress though... so tempting to burn it, but... anyway.

PMing you his info.

Hey Xandie, do you know anyone that did the forensic path elective? I'm excited (as Andy is too, no doubt) to be doing this. I just KNOW it'll be like CSI: Milwaukee. And if it isn't, I'll make it like that.

Concert Scene Investigations? Awesome. I want a concert elective.

102.1's been talking about CSI: Milwaukee.

i just realized that, in a couple months, I will be finding myself on rotations with new junior medical students. I can't wait to impart my corrupt wisdom upon them.

I've heard those commercials...way lame compared to the crime solving Splat and I will be doing.

I plan to spend the whole month talking like David Caruso's character on CSI: Miami. I'll also keep my sunglasses with me so I can dramatically put them on mid-sentence while making insightful observations about our case.

Lisa Hahn Spiedel took it... and as I recall, our very own Matt is taking it in May.

Splat: Hey JMS! Did you know the foot bone's connected to the leg bone?
JMS: Oh wow, I revel in your knowledge!

I don't think I've ever seen a CSI. Have fun with that; I would never want to repeat the 1 time in med school that I was nearly sick because I was disgusted.

Why isn't yeasterbunny doing PFI? The SMS on my peds sub-I said he's doing peds rads in May, so he can do less work than PFI.

Here's a little taste of how I'll be acting. This is SO gonna get me honors:

Hopefully by January they'll have forgotten about how well you pulled it off so I can try it too. Otherwise I'll just have to start watching Quincy: ME for my own material.

I wonder if the whole "pathologist shortage" at the ME's office is going to make the rotation suck for us? What with Jentzen retired and Alexander gone.

This guy is now my role model for life. Dancing to different heart rhythms. And it actually is sorta helpful.

It's a good thing you posted that, I didn't realize the dark sunglasses were a prerequisite for the course. If I hadn't cut my hair I would actually have been able to kinda look like that guy in May.

Anybody else getting propaganda in the mail from other med schools bragging up their away rotations and residency programs? I'm getting about 1 per week, and that's already too much.

Same here. I actually got excited about the Univ. of Alabama in Mobile (right on the gulf coast - beautiful area) until I realized they didn't have an anesthesiology program. Now I pretty much toss them.

I wonder if MCW sends those out?

I've been getting that, AND I just got stuff telling me about an MD program. Is there something I should know?
