I actually think one of the foreign students made a good point on the indomethacin being contraindicated during pregnancy b/c I was really ready to prescribe it to every pregnant lady I know... Also last yr people asked random questions all the time and it wasn't only foreign kids, there were def. some light skinned girls that are always asking questions (think back to Pharm)...and how about the American boy that pointed out Pavia was wrong today in lecture ...I just don't think u should generalize it to being a foreign thing, I think in general people in med school like to impress people with random facts that they know...

So you can only be foreign if your are dark skinned? Someone is generalizing. Notice I said PA as well, I guess I should throw in nurse as well.
She was trying to show off since from what I heard she was a pharmacist and also they weren't arguing with the professor.

I agree it gets annoying when people ask questions trying to show off, but I think it's only a couple students rather than a large percentage of the class. The lecture hall is really big and I wish for the most part lecturers would just wait till after class to answer questions.

Meanwhile...Rabin is getting close to Friedman territory. This guy just read off the notes on the bottom of his powerpoints. It bothers me that they make us sit through class to listen to crap like that lecture today.

Yes, we do have a verbatim copy, his lectures are really really short (which is nice when he's the lecturer) and he seems like a really nice guy.

That makes him leaps and bounds better than friedman already. Aside from that though, he's a terrible lecturer and doesn't seem to know the material (like Friedman).


The good news is, we have ZERO Friedman throughout this thread.

We also have no Goldstein either since Dr. Marcus will be giving us all our pharm lectures. I love Dr. Marcus lectures. He cuts through all the crap and tells us what we need to know and on top of that, he knows what he's talking about and is an effective lecturer. Maybe he'll be able to give us all our pharm lectures this year (although I have a feeling that's a lot of wishful thinking.)

Yeah I feel like I really learn the pharm well when its Dr. Marcus lecturing. I wrote in my last few course evals for him that I wish he would lecture to us more and cover all the pharm, maybe they took my advice!!👍

If dr. marcus did all of our pharm lectures last year I would feel significantly more comfortable about the boards. At least Resp. and Cardio pharm are high yield.

2 of the 3 neuro fellows who gave a significant number of lectures during the neuro system last year were horrible. They read directly off of the slides at warp speed (two hour lectures in less than 15 minutes), added no explanation, and had a difficult time answering questions. Other than those 2 I felt all of the other fellows did a good to great job with all of their "fellowing" throughout the year. And no, I will not name the names of who those 2 were.

We are allowed to use their facilities. I think that email was just about asking to use it for an organized event, like having clubs play a soccer game against each other, or stuff like that. I am pretty sure we can go to the gym, or use the basketball/tennis courts whenever they are open.

We might try to get a school health fair together for the community in Glen Cove. Supposedly we may be able to get a grant from AOA for $2k to fund it.

Someone brought up the question at the meeting of "instead of so many days of 8-12, how bout days of 8-5 then entire days off, so we don't have to come to campus everyday." Linda responded by saying the schedule is already set.

Pretty much, unless she reads the name of a disease and then says "read this in the textbook." Then read it. It's not going to be more than 2 pages.

Last year, MWF we had class until 12, and Tues-Thurs we had class 8-5, but usually it ended closer to 2 or 3 after fundamentals. We had anatomy straight through until may, so we only had lab once a week. So that is why it's different. The bodies didn't really make it until May, and so they felt it was more beneficial for you guys to finish sooner, and have better specimines.
