August 2006 MCATers -

This is the official score release thread for the August 2006 MCAT. Feel free to post serious information and announcements about the impending score release. You can post your scores in here when the time comes as well. Post any random musings in the Official August 2006 Score Release Countdown Thread so that we can keep this one uncluttered. 🙂

Best of luck to everyone waiting!

Hey I just took a look at your mdapps, with your GPA I'd apply broadly to some of the lower tier schools too. I'd apply to places like Rosalind Franklin, NYMC, Albany, etc.

👍

maybe add some virginia schools ? I've been hearing they accept a lot of OOS'ers 😕

39P

14PS
12VR
13BS

Form: FG?
Practice score range: 26 - 36
What I used to study: Princeton Review prep course, AAMC practice tests 5-9, most of examcrackers verbal workbook, examcrackers MCAT biology book.
How do I feel: The initial rush of happiness has died off. But I'm still sooo happy. This score is quite a bit higher than what I had expected. I think hp540 got the same score but a higher WS. That makes us fraternal score twins at least.

How come the scaled scores in THx use the April and August combined instead of just August? My scaled scores for VR and Total are better by a few percentiles using just August than both.

Hi all, I finally signed up for these forums after reading them a lot (they are extremely helpful).

I took the MCAT for first time:

37S, VR 10, PS 14, BS 13

I took the Princeton Course, but it really wasn't worth it. It was a little refresher, but I could have done it on my own.
I was surprised at the score and glad I made the 10, 10, 10 (In most Ontario schools that's the minimum cut off).
That 10 in Verbal now worries me since I see most medians as 11.

Keep up the good work!

Who are you people??

Oh, where are my manners....Congratulations!!

I wasn't so blessed taking the test before. Some of my friends are super smart to the point they are a little strange...ok alot strange and they didn't touch some of your scores.

Someone should compare the mean SDN scores to the mean AAMC score report.

I wouldn't be surprised if SDN was 35 or so and AAMC being around 25.

Although maybe people that did poorly are not jumping to post their scores.

CONGRATS!! i HOPE i CAN POST ON THE 30+ BOARD ONE DAY!!

1. Your Form (If you remember): DJ
2. Your Practice Score Range: 33-36
3. What you used to Study: Examkrackers and their 1001 Questions series
4. How do you feel right now? Relieved that I don't have to take it again.

37R. 15PS/11VR/11BS with an R for WS.

The imbalance is scaring me...I would have preferred 13/12/12. Anybody have any input? Should i retake? Haha i probably shoulda eaten lunch that day.

Me too!

37R. 11VR/13BS/13PS but you're obviously more of a Physics head than I am 😀

So here we are with scores:

PS 10
VR 12
WS Q
BS 14

36Q is four points higher than the goal I set for myself. I guess the $$ spent on Kaplan were worth it after all...(EDIT) oh, and forgot my practice range was only 30-33 guess the test day jitters were no big deal...

Note: last time I wrote (Aug 2001) I was at PS 9, BS 10, VR 10, WS Q. Even after a haitus from school, you can improve your score drastically - even while working full time and getting those pesky volunteer hours in too...

I dreamed I got that exact breakdown, except a P instead of Q. Of course that isn't what I actually got... maybe I dreamed this b/c I saw your post & subconsciously wished it was mine? 😴

😡 🙄 Wow, 41, 40, 39,....I would be so happy if I achieved even a 28; wow, you all are very competitive and smart...remember you will be taking tests even after med. school so mcat is just the beginning. Again, I'm very jealous and pissed (@ myself of course) but that just means I need to change strategies to achieve the desirable score.

hey just surfed into the site.. seems informative.

2006 score: 34Q
PS:12
V:12
BS:10
W:Q

took Kaplan for 2004 MCAT and received a 30Q that year.
this time took Princeton Review and got 34Q.
even though score went up, didn't see much of a difference in coursework, but I preferred Kaplan.

2004 Kaplan Practice Tests: 28-31
2006 TPR Practice Tests: 17-30

Applied last year to 25 schools (upper, middle, couple low-tiers) and DID NOT GET A SINGLE INTERVIEW, probably because of low GPA (3.4)

ECs and info
-research 2 years
-2 publications
-couple clubs and activities and premed societies
-attended UPenn

now going to grad school in Denver.

( I was going to wait for the paper copy in the mail but just couldn't wait that long)

40R
PS: 14
VR: 12
BS: 14
W: R

1. Your Form (If you remember): AN (?)
2. Your Practice Score Range: 30-37
3. What you used to Study: An off-brand book that I liked the format of, and ALL of my intro level textbooks, just looked through the chapters using the topic list published by AAMC. Took four AAMC released tests and two from the practice book.
4. How do you feel right now? Soooo excited! Thrilled I don't have to take it again... I got higher than I dared hope for 🙂

hahahaha you haven't gotten your paper scores in the mail yet??? I just got mine yesterday and most were getting them the previous day.

But that was a good decision. Now don't get freaked out when it comes in the mail and you see the sample score report for Jane Doe from Anytown, NJ with a 23N.

Berkeley Review practice tests more or less 39 across the board.

AAMC tests 1-9 range 38-42

Real Test:

PS: 13
VR: 13
BS: 13
WS: S

Pretty happy with my results, considering I felt PS was quite hard on test day, and made two really stupid mistakes on PS and BS respectively.

Hey guys...

August 2006
PS 12
VR 10
BS 12
W Q

August 2005
PS 8
VR 9
BS 7
W Q

My graduating GPA is 3.5... but that doesnt include my first school (I transferred after two years) ... my first year was a mess... (2.9 average first year)

Should I APPLY to MD school... or am I not competitive...

BTW, I also have 1.5 year of full-time research, 1.5 year of full-time clinical, and 1 year of volunteer service -at a old age home... poor old people 🙁

What do y'all think?
