That was definitely more difficult and ridiculous than any ite I have ever taken. I was drawing answers from my med school memory for a good number of those questions. And I really hope any legal or billing questions were considered experimental.

In my opinion, not very. This had a much higher WTF factor. I thought that the ITE was a much more fair evaluation of knowledge. This had a lot of poorly worded questions and a lot of straight up IM and step 1 type material. Mostly short stems. I would say about 1/3 super easy questions, 1/3 semiconfident, and 1/3 WTF.
I found this to be true when I took the writtens three years ago. Don't sweat it, just about all of you boys/girls will pass.

It wasn't that I didn't know a lot about each of the subjects, it was that the way they worded the questions with phrases like, choose the "Most appropriate" when you would do all of those things at some point...or Choose the "First thing you would do" when you would do several of those things simultaneously....or Choose the item that would have the "Least Effect" when none of them really had any effect the topic....

I don't know when, but I know when the results come, it is a relief (if you pass) as well as a kick in the balls, cuz it essentially says, "congratulations, you passed. Now you owe us another 1000$. Get ready for the second as*-raping next spring."
I'm not sure my wording is 100% correct, but that is what I remember it saying.

You will also get a packet mailed to you on Sept 23rd that will have your score and directions how to register for Orals.

As a fellow, do I really need an unrestricted license to view my result? I haven't applied yet and doubt I can have one in one month.

Don't know how to break this to you, but I'm pretty sure you need a license by November of this year, or your written doesn't count. As in, you get to take it over.

As I read the newsletter you need an unrestricted medical license in order to be board certified. I don't know if you need to have it just in order to apply for the oral boards though. Perhaps someone in the process now can answer the question.
I think that anyone who takes the test can see the results.
Well, I'm in the process now, and I can tell you our Dept Chief last year gave us a stern warning to get this sh.t done, because it almost burned a recent grad.

ABA Booklet of Info pg 14-15:
At the time of application to enter the examination system of the ABA, the applicant must...
C. Provide evidence acceptable to the board of having satisfied the licensure requirement for certification by Nov 30 of the year in which the Part 1 Examination for which they have applied is administered. Training licenses do not fulfill this licensure requirement for certification.
...The ABA will not validate or report the results to applicants who sit for the Part 1 Examination and do not fulfill those conditions identified in Sections 2.04.C and D by the deadlines.

are these "letters to the program director" confidential? i came across one AFTER my exam and 4 questions I could have answered correctly had I seen it before. If it is not confidential than my program failed me!! I think i still passed but i am a bit upset that ABA sends such emails to the program director and the program director did not add that information to our education curriculum. the information I am talking about is not in review books and M&M(not sure about miller-don't have a copy).
Not confidential. Our pd emailed the letter to all the residents. These are also the "lock n loads" in big blue. From Dr. Gravlee, I believe.
That's almost a month earlier than last year.

you can see the board pass rate since 2004 for part 1 and 2. Last year for written exam it was 85%, meaning a 15th percentile is passing. 2009 had a 92% pass rate. I honestly think the pass rate should hover around 95%. just my 2 cents.

Statistics and question validation. The scantron machine can't do that.
Get a license somewhere, anywhere ASAP or this round of writtens will not count for you and you will have to repeat. I have two friends who were burned in this exact manner and had their certifications delayed by a year, not to mention the cost of an additional test.
👍👍For those of you who pass, I recommend paying for your orals on the day that you get your results. That is the day that you will feel least bad about shelling out for another exam.
