Might as well start things rolling, I know there are a few of you that backed out of April's test that can post here too ;)
Post any AAMC, Kaplan, PR or EK full length test scores here, let's see how we progress: (PS,VR,BS)

Let's get the August excitement rolling!

Ya for organic on test 8 I thought the question about Carbon 13 NMR was kind of random to memorize those values when it is used soo infrequently and on the 0-200ppm scale.

Agreed. That really just kind of came out of left field.

This is my first post - shows my progress thus far:

good work!

there were a lot of those that took obscure knowledge for 7 and 8... the ulcer one on 7 where the gastric juices would leak to... and this one. I just shot at the highest one and got it right though... it seems like luck was on my side for 8 though :)

heyyy, i just took the AAMC 7 today, and it looks like we got the same score on that one. i got a 13 BS 11 PS and 10 VR. i was disappointed w physics since i have been scoring higher on the practice tests...i usually get a 12. overall tho, im aiming for a 35/36. what about u? good job on ure prac tests btw!

CONGRATS UMP THATS AWESOME:) I was wondering where you have been, lol.
send me some physics magic~~~~~~ :love:

I'll do my best... :D

I'm taking 21 credits this summer and things are starting to get pretty hard in Orgo II, so I've had to cut back on the SDN fun... but I'll be a regular for the release countdown thread. that should be a blast :)

hey!

I know what you mean. Once you start getting a certain score, it sucks to see a drop, even if only a slight one. In terms of the actual MCAT, I'm thinking the same - I'd be happy with a mid-30, though I'm aiming a bit higher. After all, the difference between 13s and 14s is very slight.

The part I worry about though is VR, since I'm still hovering around a 10.

Thanks, btw!

... was it jsut me or was this test really hard/ ridiculous/ depressing/ not a good thing a week before the mcat?

Another tough Kaplan test...always discouraging. Though I thought PS was easier than on FL 4. Best of luck

Superwillis, Wow great job:) Do you have any tips for physics for crunch time? It is my weakest section and I guess I have myself to blame bc I didn't really work on it as much, but any advice would be appreciated. I dont want physics to stop me from becoming a doctor!!!!!!!

I think it helps to have equations and basic facts at your fingertips. When I see a question dealing with capacitance, for instance, I try to think of all the equations and simple facts I know about capacitance before I finish reading the question. This seems to help me more, cuz then I have a "toolbox" of equations to fool around with and get an answer.

I know its kinda silly, but hey whatever works, right?

Wow UMP, great job!!! (13 on verbal is really impressive) Imagine getting a 40 on the real deal...delicious.

can anyone please predict what my verbal score will be?

pick a number from 1-15. Might as well. :confused:

Soooo encouraging/discouraging

Did 9.... 12,9,11

I don't know what happened on the verbal... I was a single question away from getting a 10.... the med school I'm applying requires a 10,10,10 for an interview so as nice as the 12 and 11 are I'd turn either one into a 10 to get a 10 in verbal lol...

AAMC 9, didn't set up well for me... going to do VR from 5 tommorrow...hopefully reassure my self

TPR 4911: 6,8,3 17
TPR 4921: 5,7,6 18
TPR 4931: 8,10,6 24
AAMC 7: 12,10,9 31
AAMC 8 10,11,10 31
AAMC6R 11,12,10 33
AAMC 9 12,9,11 32

Goood luck everyone

11 on 5R verbal....
wasn't a complete test but it was really nice to shake off the sudden drop in 9 and not go into the test on a bad note!

I got a 32 on a Kaplan test from 2k5 yesterday. I had heard that those are more difficult than the real one, and I hope they are at least similar, because I was hoping to get a 32 on the MCAT.
Phys.: 11
Verb.: 12
Bio. : 9

I'm also takin it on the computer and I'm not entirely sure about whether or not that was the best decision to make.

I'm feeling really anxious about the test, so if anybody knows whether or not that score is indicative of anything please let me know. The test was in the 2005 version of the Kaplan Comprehensive Review book.

Now, I have that mental block out of the way... but a 13 on VR ? I have no clue how that happened... right after I finished that section I thought to myself: I really need to go through the EK 101 workbook and work on this crap a bit more. Still, target score is 36+ ... I feel a lot more confident that I can get this now though, anything above is delicious gravy :)

I hope my luck didn't run out with this one, from what I saw from the April people it is impossible to predict who gets what when you are scoring 36+ on practice tests... but no one dropped below 37 on the real thing at least... so that's a good sign...

hope everyone smashes their target scores on the practice tests this week, so we can all go in on a high tide of confidence :thumbup:

Just finished 9. The PS and BS weren't as bad as 8 imo. I had some problems with VR because of a lot of distractions at home so I had to redo the last 3 passages. I'm just glad I'm done with practice exams. I used to want to take them before (when I first started) to see how I do, but now it's something I don't look forward to. As with 7, my PS and BS scores were the lowest possible amount correct to get to that 13 so I'm a bit concerned that each of my scores can drop a couple points for each section.

7/24/06 1g - 27 - 10PS 7VR 10BS
7/26/06 3R - 29 - 12PS 8VR 9BS
7/29/06 4R - 28 - 11PS 6VR 11BS
8/01/06 5R - 32 - 12PS 10VR 10BS
8/04/06 6R - 34 - 13PS 8VR 13BS
8/07/06 77 - 34 - 13PS 9VR 12BS
8/10/06 88 - 32 - 12PS 9VR 11BS
8/13/06 99 - 34 - 13PS 8VR 13BS

Update from today:

AAMC 5R - 13 P / 11 V / 12 B - 36

Any else notice that crazyass meiosis/mitosis passage, and that one about friggin' arthropoda?

I've noticed a tactic that seems to bring my ps and bio up 1-2... When taking the ps if you are better at chemistry do all the chemistry passages first, then do physics. Same thing with bio, breeze through the bio passages first if you struggle with orgo and get the "easy ones done." I found myself having almost 25-30 minutes left to do the last two passages of each section. Plus, you have more time to focus on the area that's harder for you...Hope this helps....

I was going to do AAMC 9 last weekend, but on the advice of some guys at work, I saved it for this weekend. Anyways, I'm very happy with how it turned out, although a little surprised.

EK 1G: PS 12, VR 8, BS 12 = 32
AAMC 3R: PS 12, VR 11, BS 12 = 35
4R: PS 13, VR 9, BS 11 = 33
5R: PS 13, VR 11, BS 13 = 37
6R: PS 13, VR 12, BS 13 = 38
7: PS 14, VR 10, BS 14 = 38
8: PS 13, VR 11, BS 12 = 36
9: PS 14, VR 13, BS 12 = 39

For the past two weeks, I've basically been studying only for biological sciences (I've done a couple EK 101 verbals as well), but it seems as though I always miss some really easy questions. Oh well, I was one question away from a 13. Hopefully I can pull this off on Saturday, and perhaps get that covetted 40. GOOD LUCK ALL!!!!

Today's test went TERRIBLE...but for good reason.

AAMC 7 11PS 7VR 12BS -> 30

My friend did the AAMC 7 PS yesterday and started asking me questions about it after I did mine today. He was asking me about a bunch of questions which I happened to get wrong, so I got all flustered and disappointed because I've been working really hard and it sucks when you don't do well. So, I started verbal but was thinking about PS all the way through. Understand this isn't a cop-out, I've worked extremely hard all summer to get my VR to 10/11 range, and this is what happens when you lose focus, and I knew I was losing focus. The passages were hard, but I don't think they were hard enough to go from a 11 on 6R to a 7 on AAMC 7.

For PS, I got slaughtered on 2 passages because of silly mistakes, so they are my fault. I have focus problems sometimes and tend to not see the correct answer until afterwards. A little of this stems from imperfect understanding and reading, and a little stems from the little careless mistakes everyone a lot of people are bound to make. I just wish I had done better a week before the MCAT. I still have faith because the 7 didn't come as a surprise, however, that 11 in PS certainly did.

I was 1 question away from a 13 in BS; little mistakes again, and just a lack of knowledge on some minute details.

So, my test history is...
Kaplan Diagnostic 8PS 9VR 10BS -> 27
Kaplan #1 10PS 7VR 11BS -> 28
Kaplan #2 10PS 8VR 11BS -> 29
Kaplan #3 11PS 10VR 11BS -> 32
Kaplan #4 11PS 11VR 10BS -> 32
AAMC 4R 10PS 10VR 10BS -> 30
Kaplan #5 10PS 7VR 11BS -> 28<--- still shocked by this score
AAMC 5R 12PS 10VR 12BS -> 34
AAMC 6R 11PS 11VR 12BS -> 34
AAMC 7 11PS 7VR:(:( 12BS -> 30:(:(:(:(

My target score is 14PS 12VR 13BS.....39

nice work, way to end on a high note :thumbup:

Kaplan diagnostic..........21 (6 PS, 7 VR, 8 BS)
AAMC 3R.....................30 (8 PS, 11 VR, 11 BS)
Kaplan 1......................27 (9 PS, 7 VR, 11 BS)
AAMC 4R.....................27 (10 PS, 8 VR, 9 BS)
Kaplan 2......................27 (10 PS, 8 VR, 9 BS)
AAMC 5R.....................31 (10 PS, 10 VR, 11 BS)
Kaplan 3......................28 (9 PS, 8 VR, 11 BS)
AAMC 6R.....................31 (11 PS, 8 VR, 12 BS)
Kaplan 4......................30 (9 PS, 10 VR, 11 BS
AAMC 7R.....................33 (12 PS, 10 VR, 11 BS)
Kaplan 5......................27 (9 PS, 8 VR, 10 BS)

Update:

AAMC 8R.....................31 (11 PS, 10 VR, 10 BS)

I thought the bio was a little hard. I made some dumb mistakes in BS and PS which really hurt my score... I was hoping for a little better.

3R 8, 13, 11
4R 11, 10, 12
5R 12, 12, 12
6R 12, 11, 12
9R 12, 11, 13

Blarg... One more practice to go...(7R)

3R 10,11,11
4R 11,9,11
5R 12,12,13

For 5R both the PS and V were just one question below the 13 point mark. Aargh.

Did anyone else think 9 verbal was easier than the other aamc verbals? I somehow got a 12 on it (usually 10-11), and I actually had a good feeling about it after I finished. Is the general consensus that it was easier? Maybe it was the smoothie I had that morning...

yea, i thought it was easier than the others. It seemed like a simpler read

I found the read to be easy but the questions terrible...
My worst AAMC verbal... and only one below 10...

i was just wondering if anyone had the detailed solutions to the 4R exam in pdf format. if so, could someone PM me...i would really appreciate it! alternatively, would someone mind giving me the answers to the following questions on bio: #201-204, 174, 185

as for what ive scored on 4r so far, it looks like a 12 on PS, and im still in the process of grading verbal and bio....thanks guys!

3R: 10PS, 11VR, 9BS = 30
4R: 11PS, 10VR, 10BS = 31
5R: 12PS, 10VR, 11BS = 33
6R: 12PS, 10VR, 12BS = 34
7 : 13PS, 9VR, 11BS = 33

9 : 13PS, 10VR, 11BS = 34

Yay. Hopefully I won't bomb it on Saturday. Also, I don't think I'm going to do AAMC 8 because I can't stand doing anymore serious studying, just review from now until Friday.

DON'T do 8... i just did it.. and i bombed it. The BS, had so many messed up questions, and the answer explainations were subpar.

Ah, I'm taking my last practice test this morning (AAMC 7). Hope I don't score alot worse and kill my confidence for saturday.

good luck! my final one will be tomorrow, I think...

Current list: (In PS / VR / BS order)

April 2005 Exam: 8 / 11 / 9
5R 7/9/06: 7 / 10 / 8
6R 7/30/06: 9 / 9 / 11
3R 8/5/06: 8 / 12 / 9
AAMC 9: 8 / 12 / 9

4R PS only: 10

Woohoo... now if I could just get my highest score in every section, I'd have a: 10 / 12 / 11 overall 31

Or, I could get my worst in everything (discounthing the 5R b/c it was my diag): 8 / 9 / 9 over all: 27

Here's hoping for the high end. :luck:

last practice test today: aamc 7 (13/10/14)

I think I've done enough practice tests...im just gonna chill and do some easy review until sat.

Good luck everybody!

I did Kaplan 9 today minus the Verbal which I replaced with EK 10.

Anyway, I got 11 PS, 10 VR (EK 10), and 10 BS = 31.

Damn, can't get > 32 and this is my second last full length *sad* I doubt there's a chance of getting > 32 with AAMC 9 which is what I'm doing tomorrow =(
