Might as well start things rolling, I know there are a few of you that backed out of April's test that can post here too 😉
Post any AAMC, Kaplan, PR or EK full length test scores here, let's see how we progress: (PS,VR,BS)

Let's get the August excitement rolling!

ump youve been studying since January so you dont count 😛
how about people just starting??
I did just VR and BS, AAMC 3 10VR,13BS
would not attempt PS yet till I look at the material at least once😉

The PS on 3r is actually not very difficult in the grand scheme of things. Might be a good exam to boost your ego and ease you into other exams. Are you taking Kaplan or anything?

thanks for the tip Anastasis🙂
My actual Kaplan class starts this Monday🙂

Kaplan has uber hard PS - remember that esp. if it is your weak area. But that will prob. work out the best for you, because you'll get a ton of work in that area.

Best of luck to you!! You'll rock that beast. :luck:

I hope what you say is true about the PS Kaplan dishes out, because thus far, it's kickin' my arse.

I don't want my post count to increase in this thread during the summer....

yeah, I'm trying to make up for a 5 year 2.77 GPA in 8 months... it'll be an interesting experiment (I am taking post-bacc classes too, BTW, so my GPA will be up to 3.05 🙁 ) I'd love to get in this year, but honestly I don't think I deserve it...

well good luck UMP it seems you are going to do just fine one the mcat
now I hope I can do just as fine with my three and a half months of studying🙂 🙂 I am pretty good with bio and organic, gen chems ok (except for some problem solving I have to brush up on) and I actually started physics this week🙂 which I was avoiding and putting of when it's my least favorite subject. Though I got all the conceptual questions right in the passages in class yesterday, the main thing I get nervous on is long equation solving problems. If it is concept based that would be better for me. This week sucks though bc I have that stagette party that I am in charge of this weekend so not as productive this week as I would like to be. I cannot wait till this weekend if over🙂 🙂

i'd just like to put it out there that as of this time in the process of taking last yr's august mcat, i had yet to take my 1st practice test and when i did take it (mid-june), i got a 25....so if you got an amazing practice score already (like some of the earlier posters), that's awesome. if you're reading this thread and getting scared b/c your score isn't near what you want it to be, don't worry! you don't have to post your score or anything, but just know that you have plenty of time to improve! :luck:

Well, I feel like a complete *****. I only got PS9, VR9, BS9 when I took the AAMC 3R as a diagnostic. 🙁

You should rock the real MCAT! How much have you studied already?

I just got lucky with some questions. I studied about a month now, and trying to get it up to 38+ range before August.

You shouldn't feel like a *****. I did even worse on the AAMC 3R science sections which are supposed to be some of the easiest! (PS8, VR12, BS8). I hadn't started studying for the sciences and the main reason my VR score was actually good was because I'd done approximately half of the EK101 Verbal Passages book beforehand. Hopefully if we both keep trucking along we'll get there!

Scores so far:
5/10/06: AAMC 3R - 8PS, 8BS, 12VR (28)
Start TPR class 5/31/06 with only verbal studying since 3R
6/3/06: TPR diagnostic 4911 - 8PS, 8BS, 11VR (27)
6/10/06: AAMC 6R - 9PS, 12BS, 11VR (32)
6/13/06: AAMC 4R verbal only - 10 😡 😕

Next test: 6/24/06 TPR 4921 (which is supposed to be as bad/worse than 4911 - we'll see!)

your VR scores look great, why'd you wimp out ? 😕

I just let laziness slip up on me after finishing both science sections. Verbal is, obviously, the area I'm feeling most confident about right now so I decided to take that section last and then I never got around to it. Trying it today instead... 😉

wow this thread is so intimidating

ummmmmm i took aamc 5r as a diagnostic for my EK course
12 ps 10 vr 8 bs
i'm not too distressed cuz i went in without studying anything and was already starting to realize that ap bio in 10th grade may not have been the best idea 😕

if you could get 30 without studying, then you know you could get over 35. Also, I am pretty sure that APs will help you in the long run.

baseless speculation on my part... but if that's your diagnostic, you should expect 1-3 improvement on vr and even more on the science sections, you're in great shape

Just incase my MCAT is not up to par when I receive the scores from the April 06 MCAT.

June 7
AAMC 3R - 13 PS, 12 VR, 6 BS

I do fine with the Organic section in BS, but I took Bio 1 & 2 my freshman year (1996). Does anyone know if those classes will count, or do I need to update them?

Dude, dont get freaked by these numbers. More than half the time people lie about their "outstanding" scores. Just keep doing what you're doing and you'll be fine.

you might have to if you haven't taken any bio since then... that really sucks that the BS section was pulling you down that hard

Are you taking a prep course? If you're just starting to study i think taking practice tests now is pretty much meaningless unless you just want an initial impression. If youre not above 25 by mid july it could be iffy

Kaplan Full-Length 1
PS: 12 VR: 10 BS: 11

I feel the best about the BS since I only got two questions wrong in the biology based questions, and half of the orgo questions wrong... I'm still taking Orgo right now, so that BS score should keep going up, this test was just very Orgo heavy, something like 40% of the questions... Kaplan VR on this test was completely worthless, it seemed like all but 10 questions you could get directly from going back to the passage and rephrasing a statement. PS I went 10 minutes over because I lost track of time, read too much of the insanely long intro passages which are pretty much worthless... even though its a 5 point drop from my AAMC 5r I'm happy with it and have some direction in what to work on 🙂

already a 38 on 5R? you must be crazy! Keep up the good work!

i just got owned by passage four in test 5 of the ek verbal 101 series...i have absolutely no clue what happened but i think i lost my mind on that one. The answers seemed pretty obvious too.

Kaplan 1 11, 12, 10 = 33
AAMC 3R 12, 13, 11 = 36
AAMC 4R 10, 9, 11 = 30

Brett, darling. A "30" is NOT 'Getting Owned'.
An "11" is getting owned.
👍

Summary of practice tests:
5/10/06: AAMC 3R - 8PS, 8BS, 12VR (28)
6/3/06: TPR diagnostic 4911 - 8PS, 8BS, 11VR (27)
6/10/06: AAMC 6R - 9PS, 12BS, 11VR (32)
6/13/06: AAMC 4R - 10VR, 9BS, 9PS (28) 😡 :scared:

Next in line: TPR 4921 (6/25). I think I need to hit the books more before the next set of tests after these though!

BrettBatchelor said:
UMP whatd you get on AAMC 4R? I got owned on that one.

i'm trying to save the rest of the AAMC ones til August so I have a solid estimate of my score, I only took 5r to see how well EK alone prepped me before I started on Kaplan... until then I have 11 Kaplans and 3-4 PR and a EK test to hold me over, and tons of VR passages... I hope I get through it all, even though it is serious overkill...

Looks like I am really taking this thing.

Relax brett. Didn't you mention before that you were already accepted someplace out of high school? If I was in your shoes I would convince myself that I am taking this thing for fun.

I wish I had been. If I was in a bs/md program, I probably wouldn't have ever found sdn.

took Kaplan 2 today... PS 12, VR 11, BS 13
Happy with everything... need to start doing more VR passages though and start utilizing those EK tricks... and I just got my spring half-semester grades back with three more A's 😀
But a pre-med counselor pretty much told me today that it would be foolish for me to apply this year and told me to wait... 😡 I think I'm gonna take his advice though...

so it's been a huge pre-med day for me

Good Bump.

Saturday I took 5R
13,11,11 = 35 I'd be happy about that if it were test day but I think I should be able to raise the BS since my physio knowledge is weak right now.

Don't worry guys, 4R was one of the hardest tests (for me at least).

i'm noticing on the kaplan stuff that the genetics class I just took and a physio class I had a couple years ago are really helping out... on the Bio questions I really don't get more than 1-2 questions wrong on each test... it's just the orgo that's killing me, but orgo II starts next week, so that should help... it's amazing how much Bio knowledge I've retained over the years starting from AP Bio class almost 10 years ago...
funny thing is I've always considered myself a Physics and Math wiz, and it seems like the BS section will be my bread and butter.

nice score on the 5R Brett, was it just me or was PS almost TOO easy on that test... ?

I'm also debating on whether I should take 4R now or wait until I do all the Kaplans... the PS and BS passages on Kaplan are just way too long and don't look like anything on the 5R I took, but practice is practice I guess

PS seemed pretty straight forward. I would steer clear of 4R unless you just feel like getting kicked in the groin. It isn't pleasant and it definitely shook my confidence.

aamc 6R: 10ps. 8v, 12 bs (30 total)

It seems I cant break an 8 on verbal. I basically feel like I loose focus in the middle then regain it for the last few passages.

Just keep trying to up your endurance little by little. Also, are you missing most of your questions towards the middle or is it spread out? If you're finding that you miss a couple on each passage, you might want to work on answering a passage worth of questions at a time without giving yourself a time limit. That way, you can improve comprehension without being knocked down by the "strategy" necessary for the test. Good luck!

Practice scores to date:
5/10/06: AAMC 3R (before any review) - 8PS, 8BS, 12VR (28)
6/3/06: TPR diagnostic 4911 - 8PS, 8BS, 11VR (27)
6/10/06: AAMC 6R - 9PS, 12BS, 11VR (32)
6/13/06: AAMC 4R - 10VR, 9BS, 9PS (28)
6/24/06: TPR 4921 - 7PS (definitely my worst area, although I just started physics II so hopefully that'll change), 10VR, 10BS (27)

Nowhere near my goal right now so I'm feeling a bit bummed/discouraged. If only my VR score didn't keep going down and I could kick butt on the PS section!...
