Might as well start things rolling, I know there are a few of you that backed out of April's test that can post here too 😉
Post any AAMC, Kaplan, PR or EK full length test scores here, let's see how we progress: (PS,VR,BS)

Let's get the August excitement rolling!

i guess that makes me the village idiot 🙂

kaplan 1: 24 a good ol, 8/8/8 split 😛

but then again i havent reviewed the chem/phy yet... and this is the first practice mcat i have taken. lets see what happens.

I will post my scores to make lurkers like myself feel better about themselves. I know not everyone scores near 30 without studying, since most are scoring lower in my tpr class

4911 TPR

7p9v7b
23

4921 TPR

4p :scared:
10v
8b
22

I am quite concerned about physical. I am working hard on it, so hopefully the planets align that day and I can get a 10 in that section. I am confident that I will be able to score 10 or above on the other sections.

Like I said earlier, 4R was low for me and others said it was their lowest. Keep your head up.

why is 4R so hard? Is it mainly because of the curve, or the difficulties of the questions?

The scale is 2 questions higher in PS and VR than 3R. I remeber going over them and having a couple WTF moments too so I would say a combo of both.

4R was also my lowest AAMC score. I remember that Verbal section being pretty tough. AAMC 8 was a b*tch too.

Hey can one of you August Mcatters send me the answers to AAMC tests 3-9? My e-mail address is [email protected] so no one will know that you sent it to me. I need it for my friend who has the tests but no solutions. In return I will give you detailed advice on how to do really well with minimal effort. I got a 38Q on the April 2006 exam.

i don't know about you, but my advice to do well on the MCAT would be to take AAMC tests 3-9 and look over your answers and see what you got wrong 😀 😛

ek verbal #5-10
ek verbal #6- 9. The one passage about supreme court judges killed me. I spent a good 5-10 minutes losing concentration between the paragraphs

anyone noticing the ek verbal passage layout? the first two are usually mediocre and the next few are easy then comes a killer passage with a few more mediocres rounding out the end.

yeah, over half of my wrong answers come on just 1-2 of the passages... but that's how they all are set-up

😡

EK 1g 's curve needs to be adjusted by the makers, it is way to rough

AAMC 3R (Diag.) PS 7, VR 10, BS10
AAMC 6R PS 9, VR 10, BS 11

Hopefully can get my BS and PS scores up.. 😛
How many weeks until the exam? 7?

Sup guys!

My scores so far:

TPR 4911 (6/17): 11 BS, 10 PS, 10 V (31) <-- I was really surprised at this. I was expecting low 20's or so on the first one

AAMC 5R (6/24): 12 BS, 11 PS, 11V (34) Whee! Movin up...

My goal is a 37 (or above if possible lol). Assuming 5R is of representative difficulty (don't tell me if it was really easy for everyone else 😉 ), then a 1 point increase in each subject is very doable I think! I haven't learned Orgo II material yet, so that should bring me up a bit.

My TPR class is taking aamc 6R and 8 the two weeks before the mcat, so I'm trying to decide when to take the remaining AAMC tests (3,4,7,9).

Should I even take 3R? I heard it was such an old test that it wasnt representative anymore or something.

if you have the time, why not? expect your score to be about 2-3 points higher than it really is, though

Are you guys taking all practice tests under timed conditions?

Well, I'm taking a TPR course, and every Saturday they usually proctor tests for one of the many MCAT courses running at the TPR center. So I usually ask them if I can sit in and take my practice tests in their proctored classrooms. I think its a lot better than timing yourself, especially since it recreates testing conditions.

If you're enrolled in a classroom prep course, ask them if you can take your practice tests there. I mean, you're paying out the butt for the course anyways, might as well. Hell, even if you're not enrolled, you could try.

Crappity...I just took a Kaplan Half-Length this morning.

I don't know how representative the half-lengths are, but I got a P: 12, V: 7, BS: 13 == 32.

I did better in PS and BS (from 11 and 12, respectively) but shot down 4 points in verbal WTF?!??!

Ugh...

It would also be a good confidence boost going into the test if you take it as the last one.

👍 and a big part of the MCAT is confidence going in on test day... imagine going down 4 points from your average on your last full-length practice :scared:

newest score from today

11 ps, 8v, 11 bs (30) - aamc 5r

I was only one question from a 9 on verbal

How I hate you verbal.

Kaplan #10 and #11 I used the average scaled scores of 7,8,9 (since they don't have scaled scores).

Week 1 - Kaplan MCAT #1 (9PS, 10VR, 11BS = 30)
Week 2 - AAMC MCAT #3R (12PS, 14VR, 10BS = 36)
Week 3 - Kaplan MCAT #10 (9PS, 11VR, 11BS = 31)
Week 4 - Kaplan MCAT #11 (11PS, 12VR, 12BS = 35)
Week 5 - EK MCAT #1 (10PS, 10VR, 10BS = 30)
Week 7 - Kaplan MCAT #2 (12PS, 13VR, 11BS = 36)
Week 8 - AAMC MCAT #4R (11PS, 11VR, 12BS = 34)

Gonna do Kaplan #3 tomorrow. Yea I know I'm missing Week 6, I went through a tough week (lost my backpack, studying for course final, etc.) didn't do much MCAT related, so I thought it'd be a waste to do one.

Edit: I should also say that I went over time for 3 PS sections (most was 12 minutes over), but I'm getting better at it (I think). BS usually leaves me with 20 minutes, and Verbal with 25-30.

Kaplan MCAT #3 12PS, 11VR, 12 BS = 35

fun stuff, I'm liking how I'm evening out (12,11,13 on Kaplan 2) and I really hope this would be my lowest score in August... 1 point extra in each section and I'd be ecstatic

The last practice test I took before the MCAT was one from the Kaplan book of 2 and I broke it up so I did each section on a different day so that I didn't burn out before the test. That one was by far my highest score and so I was on a huge high that last half of that week going into the test. I really feel that helped me a lot.

I took AAMC 5R yesterday.
PS 10, VR 11, BS 10.

I was 1 question away from an 11 on both PS and BS! DARN. And that one passage about Picasso was insane. I got 5 of the 10 questions wrong on that one passage alone. Apparently, I suck at artsy passages!

I'm kinda encouraged after doing fairly well on this exam, though I know that this test is pretty easy compared to the other AAMC exams. I think I hit a 31 on it last too, and the rest of my exams weren't quite as nice, so this may be a bit of false hope.

Hey shanster, I took that practice test too last year, and I got the highest science scores I had ever had... but man that verbal was ridiculous. I got like a 6 or something on it. The passages were soooooooo long, and the the scale was ridiculous too. I had never had a vr anywhere near that low, so I just wrote off that whole exam.

I remembered that passage and I went back to my score report, and yeah, i got 5 out of 10 wrong on that one too... made me feel like I should take an art history class or something to realize what is going on. I only got 7 wrong total on that whole test, without that passage I would've gotten a 14... but it just can't work like that can it? I hate humanities passages with a passion...

Haha, yea, i missed 5 on that passage too. That passage was a beast. But i managed to get an 11 on the verbal section, which i was happy with.

Its good to know other people thought it was hard too.

i just took my first practice test, 3R, and i got a 30 composite (9BS, 10PS, 11VR). I wish I did a little better because it seems like everyone did so well on 3R but I'm happy I didn't do worse than 30. I've finished 2 weeks of the EK books and I still have 8 weeks to go so I think I can improve. I'm HOPING that I'll be able to score 37+ on the real thing this August.

Also, HI EVERYONE!! I'm new and I'm loving this forum; everyone's so supportive! 🙂

Oh yeah, so it took me the whole day to get through 3R with many breaks. I usually have enough stamina to go through exams but this was a KILLER!! How do you guys complete full-lengths within the time conditions without having your brain melt? This worries me a lot. My brain is seriously fried right now, tired from SO MUCH reading.

take enough practice exams and you'll get used to it

I remember thinking "holy crap 8 hour test is going to be insane", but after a couple practice tests, it wasnt as bad as I thought. The time seems to fly by, at least for me (or maybe thats what I tell myself). And because of that, I kinda look forward to taking practice tests, to see if I can beat my old score. I dunno, its a corny way to stay motivated i guess.

haha, yeah. i also think that once you start understanding the material more, it becomes easier to get through. i was guessing on a lot of the BS so that one especially felt like it could go on forever.

ahhh. I took the PR 4921 test today, and did horribly on it. The A/C in the room broke, and so it was unbearably hot (83 on the thermostat). I ended up with a 30.... 🙁

craaaaaap.

a 30 is actually good

kaplan fl#1 11ps, 9vr, 12bs (32)

Physical sciences was insanely hard.
I had to guess on 14 b/c I ran out of time. Iv never had timing issues on the PS section on my other full lengths. Just kaplans crazy amount of calculations must have slowed me down. But i was surprised with this score.

Kaplan diagnostic..........21 (6 PS, 7 VR, 8 BS)
AAMC 3R.....................30 (8 PS, 11 VR, 11 BS)
Kaplan 1......................27 (9 PS, 7 VR, 11 BS) VR-WTF? Felt good when I took it

Kaplan's verbal is different than AAMC verbal. I'd pay more attention to the scores you get with AAMC, or even EK, than with Kaplan.

Kaplan Diag: 28
Kaplan #1: 31 (misbubbled on verbal...could've gotten a 32!)

My overall goal is above a 30, simply because I got a 25 on my first MCAT...I just fear I'll get the same score again in august! =(

3r: 10ps + 11vr + 9bs = 30
4r: 11ps + 10vr + 10bs= 31

hopefully i'll keep going up!

i'm always unsure of a LOT of questions in all 3 sections so I guess a lot. Do you guys feel the same way, or is it just me?

Haha i get the same feeling....I think it's the "critical thinking" aspect of the test.

Yup. On some, I feel like I did well, and then I get more wrong than I expected (because I fell for the "traps"), and some I think I did horrible and do better than I expected. You just never know.

Week 9 - Kaplan MCAT #3 (13PS, 12VR, 12BS = 37)
Week 10 - EK MCAT #2 (13PS, 11VR, 12BS = 36)

Just a warning for those who are gonna take EK #2 ("#2f"), there 5 mistakes in the answers for Verbal Reasoning in the back. The website has the corrected answers so make sure you go through each answer. I jumped from 9 to 11.

There didn't seem to be any mistakes in the other sections, but caveat: I only match up the back letters with the online letters, I don't actually read the answers (except for questions I got wrong). So there very well could be mistakes..

AAMC 3R: 12,12,9
AAMC 4R: 11,11,10

the bio section always kills me. i really should have taken more bio classes

4R (35, 12P/13V/10B) = 3 weeks ago, 50% done with EK content review
5R (38, 13P/12V/13B) = today, 95% done with EK content review (just have bio chapter 9 left)

If these earlier versions of the test are at all accurate, it seems like the EK science books do a pretty good job of preparing you for the PS and BS sections. I haven't looked at the verbal workbook yet, but I'm hoping it can get me over the hump of consistently missing 3-5 questions on the verbal. Anyways I've heard about the earlier versions of the aamc tests being a bit too easy, so I'm taking everything with a grain of salt.

yep...i took all of my pre-reqs in the last 2 years (just finished sophomore year) so the stuff wasn't lodged too deeply in my memory. i think EK does a great job of pulling stuff back out of the corners of your mind. i didn't take a test before i started EK (except for 3r which i was told to disregard), so i don't really have a "before/after" set of scores. truthfully though, after covering all the lectures for the EK science books (except for bio ch.9) most of the PS and BS science topics on 5R were pretty familiar. in particular the bio/ochem EK books really boosted my biological sciences score; for 4R i hadn't covered any physiology yet, and i had only covered the first 2 chapters of ochem. By 5R I had covered nearly all of the bio/ochem topics in EK and my BS score jumped from a 10 to a 13. hope that answers your question.
