Got a call 15 minutes ago....while I was in the subway....superb timing....
so no...they are still calling people
let's face it, if we didn't hear by now, we're not hearing. They probably finished two hours ago.
I called stony brook they gave out all there first round acceptances yesterday
all Patricia Berry told me was that the acceptances were all done yesterday and that she has not been told to reject anyone and that she has not heard anything about a waitlist.. so far we are all just going to be under review
Anyone know where I can find the specializing rates/placement for Stony?
Thanks
I got a call from Dr. Paquette on Monday. He said "we're still enthusiastic about your application" and "this will be a happy week for you and your family" but I didn't get a call on Dec. 1 or 2 saying I've been offically accepted. What do you guys think?
I got in too! sorry it took me so long to post this haha! did anyone make a facebook group or something? im excited to meet everyone!
so why are you guys choosing stony? what aspects sparked your interest?
2) I'm probably going to practice in NY when I graduate, if I went to UConn this would mean that I would have to take the North East Regional Boards and pass them on my first try in order to practice in NY as soon as I graduate
Unless something is going to change that we haven't heard about, this is pretty much what to expect: We get appointments made for us in pedo clinic (2nd and 3rd year) and in general clinic in 4th year. 2nd and 3rd year clinic, you are making your own calls. There are special cases where you will get booked by your coordinator but it happens very infrequently. That being said, the coordinators are wonderful and if you are on top of asking for things, you will be on top of getting the cases you need.they make appointments for you so that you know you'll get all the cases you need
just a few points of correction here:
This is FALSE to the nth degree. All brand new grads wishing to work in NY must take a GPR to be licensed.
but everything else looks pretty accurate =) good luck with your decisions!
With all due respect, why would you choose stony brook? I hear terrible things about the school. Everyone there is very depressed and extremely regretful for attending. I would definitely not attend, I hear the absolute worst horror stories. It is called Stoner Brook and Stony Boring by students for a reason.
Someone made the waitlist

Haha, you guys are just going to keep questioning me and try to bring me down, but no problem. Well, I did research in the dental school at Stony Brook for three years, so I knew some faculty. I was also a Health Science major so I spent a LOT of my time in HSC. Most of my friends were dental students and so I pretty much know the ins and outs. In addition, I have three close family members that attended Stony Brook dental and all three really regret it. I think I know what I am talking about. Like I said, do not assume. I am not attending and I would want to know why anyone else would.... or is it because they are unfamiliar with their future situation?
