Its the second week of July. As of today, JULY 11th, my AMCAS is submitted and ready for review. This $hit has been eating at me for the past 3-4 weeks now but i had to make sure it was perfect. Compared to some you crazies that had this thing submitted the first week of june, it seems that i am damn late. But it just seems that way cuz most of you guys that post here are incredibly on top of your shyt. Good for you i guess.

I just wanted to let other people know that they shouldn't get nervous just cuz everyone has already submitted their AMCAS and you haven't. Just try to get it in by the end of July at the latest - you still got a fighting chance. Don't let these crazy obsessive pre-meds ( got nothin' but love ) get into your head.

The waiting and the obsessive app. status checking begins. Its outta my hands. If all you med schools dont like me...then F-U...RFUMS here i come !

I invite all you late submitters to post your thoughts/comments etc.

You are still relatively early compared to those who will have to wait for full verification to occur until they get August MCAT scores. Also, believe it or not, there are people who actually wait til mid fall or last minute before applying. So you are still relatively early unless you wait til like late August or September.

Don't stress about it.

Some places will give secondaries without full verification anyhow.

you are totally not that late. late is my friend whose apps weren't complete until november. needless to say he missed deadlines, only got 1 interview, and got rejected from everywhere he applied except for 1 school. but keep in mind...you only need 1!!!

Ok first, let me put a disclaimer on this post... I am not writing this information about myself to show people it is okay to submit late. I am simply putting it because I don't want you people who are submitting in July and Aug to think that you no longer have a chance.

Ok, so I applied REALLY late. Not only did I submit my AAMCAs on October 15th, but I submitted ALL of my secondaries either the day before the deadline or on the deadline. I applied to 14 schools and got 7 interviews.. went on 6 interviews, got into 2 schools and waitlisted at the other 4... got into 1 off the waitlist, the rest I withdrew from after one of my acceptances in March. Basically, I was lucky to have gotten what I did and thankfully I got into my top choice which happened to be non-rolling. However, I have no doubt that I would have had a much better chance of getting into the schools off the bat that I was waitlisted at had I not interviewed on the last day for most of those schools.... It is definitely important to get in your apps in a TIMELY manner... meaning you don't have to get them in crazy early on June 1st and secondaries within 3 days but you also shouldn't really wait till after August to at least submit your AAMCAs... for those of you who want more details on my exp with the late apps process.. here is my mdapps....

I have been feeling major stress about being "late"........ thanks for the note of encouragement, RUGIRLIE! 😀

I am still waiting on one transcript from a junior college.... which I took one mini-class (Beg. Spanish) pass/fail. I did not need the credit or grade.... yet here I am waiting on the silly transcript.

its ok, for urm i dont think you have to fret. my advice is not to let your secondaries look like this and things should turn out fine.

I was feeling rushed but then I realized even when I submit this week I will still be waiting for my committee composite LOR to be done (like 1 month away). So I'd plan a step ahead and consider when you're actually going to be able to complete your 2ndary package and be eligible for interviews, because that's the date that actually matters.

Good to know that its not late to submit around this time.
I am sure there are many people out there that have all this tension because they feel they are late...well "don't fret" is the general theme i got out of all you guys' advice and comments.

goodluck to all you guys filling out the AMCAS...its a bitch of an application. I just hope there arent any errors or corrections on mine that could potentially delay it.

i'm so lollygagging - its not even funny. I am getting close to submitting - but like many of you, concerned with secondaries.
I have only requested 1 LOR, and need 2 more from school, which is 1200 miles away, very difficult to ask profs acrss the country for LOR.

As well, I have not shadowed yet, plan on doing it this upcoming week and more after application.

Ohh well, thats what I get for having to pay for school and work. Plus deciding to go into med school at the last moment and want to get in this cycle doesn't help.

Looks like I'll be submitting my AMCAS in mid-late July.

Does it really take AMCAS 4-6 wks to process your app?! So does that mean the schools won't receive my app until mid August?

But onto topic....

A friend of mine applied kinda late cuz she didn't get her MCAT scores back until October (August MCATer). So she took her time in finishing her AMCAS and secondary. She only applied to one school too. She got interviewed in January and accepted a week later.

a lot of other people that were august MCATers got the last possible interviews due to late applications, then waitlists, and finally acceptences at the end of the spring semester.

Yeah I submitted my application to amcas 7/9 and still have not been verified. about 4 weeks...at least.

I wont be verified for another week or two. I have all my secondaries written tho, and I plan on spending 5 hours a day editing them and perfecting them till I start receiving them! I have asked if being complete mid August is late, and everyone agreed that it is not. It is not super early, but apparently, it is still somewhat early. Somewhere between early and average...
